reading about the participation of children in rituals as a form of play in ancient greece and came across an incredibly charming story from julius pollux's onomasticon where a flood prevented the adults from reaching a sanctuary to sacrifice a ram to heracles, and the children solved the problem by....sticking a bunch of sticks in an apple to give it "legs" and "horns" and offering it as a sacrifice instead. it's such a charming thought and i can perfectly picture kids these days also pretending at sacrificing an apple "goat" at recess

i know the definition on urban dictionary. i refuse to believe lestat knows what urban dictionary is. also, the definition doesn't make any sense.

The first one. Armand can’t seem to exist without being psychosexually obsessed with someone else. He is a formless, shapeless creature who can seep into anywhere. When he comes he portends storms. He is a ruiner of things.

I can't even be excited about Lestat being an asshole or Loustat bickering because it's all just so sad. It's so awful that Loustat were on the track to becoming better together, but this book drops, and any glimpse of happiness is gone. Lestat looks so hurt. When Louis was panicking for an explanation, he also sounded distraught and lost.

I firmly believe this wasn't on Louis. Daniel is an "old man with all the triggers that come with it", he is smart, he's not an idiot without agency and they made him older to avoid this on purpose. Blaming Louis for the publication when Daniel & the Talamasca know how much this entire interview hurt Louis is ridiculous. Louis burning the laptop without knowing about the cloud is unfortunate, but the ultimate meaning behind that act is a big and flaming "DON'T PUBLISH THIS".

But he fucking did. Blaming Louis for not reading the book too??? Why would he want to read a book about some of the most painful things he's ever lived through? What appeal is there to read a book about himself detailing Claudia's life and death, his own naivete, his mistakes, his failures? Like I am not saying Louis is entirely blameless but maybe we should focus on the guy who:

Sat down with the recordings.

Listened to it dozens of times, because he had to because you can't write a whole book about a life this long without going back and referencing.

Wrote it all down to fit into a 300-400 page book.

Had the Talamasca give insights into it, return his drafts and had to rewrite it

Submit it for publishing

Then went on to make the big bucks and gain a whole lot of fame for it. He's doing press tours, this is not a person who seems like he's sensitive about any of his subjects' privacy. This is about him now.

He probably did it as some form of revenge for the week-long torture, and the way he was transformed against his will. Still doesn't make him less culpable in this.

Louis and Lestat are wrecks, but this one time, the conflict was beyond either of them.
