[i also deal with an ED(nos) which I will probably not talk about! and dermatillomania!]

depression: im so empty inside im going to do nothing, not move my body, isolate from people, and cry all day because I feel simultaneously nothing and everything at the same time

autism burnout: I’ve overextended myself too much, i need significantly more alone time to recover, im not wallowing in pain im just exhausted and feel paralyzed (and maybe that isolation will contribute to depression in the future but right now, this is not that, they are different)

anyone else with bpd find that their symptoms interfere with their sexual orientation? Or at least how it’s perceived and handled.

I know im gay but every now and then when im going insane i start acting promiscuous around men or thinking I have “crushes” and all that

the amount of disregard and ignorance I get for being both autistic and borderline.. people always seem to think it’s one or the other. This newfound idea of “autistic [afab] always get misdiagnosed with bpd!!” (I’ve also never met anyone who has BPD but got misdiagnosed with autism… it always is the other way around). But I swear to you, I know myself, my life, my experiences, and my symptoms. And let me tell you, I am certain and I agree with the psychiatrist who diagnosed me with bpd, and I agree with the assessor I spent 6 hours with to get an autism diagnosis. so neither was misdiagnosed, and i don’t ever want to hear someone spread the “one or the other, bpd or autism” myth to me. doesn’t work that way

i dont make my problems other people’s problems for the most part i just isolate and cut them off and maybe im coldhearted but id rather that than to feed the flame and cause insane drama or what have you so No, people with bpd aren’t always big vocal crybabies lol

People underestimate how much it fucks you up to be subtly excluded as a kid. I would try to talk to my classmates and be met with disinterest or annoyance. The one friend I had, who I clung to and nodded along to his every word, had other friends he liked just as much or more. And his other friends didn’t care for me at all.

I look back at pictures from the time and see how separated I was from them. I remember knowing I was different. I remember posing questions about the world to the girls playing next to me and realizing that they had never asked the same ones to themselves. That the ways we thought couldn’t be more different.

I kept myself amused with my own fanatical stories and musings in my head. I would wander the playground on a circular path, imagining a friend and being sorely disappointed when it didn’t feel as real as I’d hoped.

There was a bubble separating me from everyone else, thin, and nearly invisible, but with a pearly sheen you could catch under the right conditions. I knew it was there, they knew it was there, and it changed me

I know that barrier well. All my life, I’ve felt like I’m interacting with people through a glass barrier — I can see them and hear them, but I’m not with them.

It was especially noticeable and painful in childhood. I occasionally had people who tolerated my presence, but no real friends. I never felt like I connected with others or truly belonged anywhere. To make matters worse, no matter who I asked, I could never get a straight answer on why I was different from everyone else and could never fit in. It leaves a deep wound, always being the outsider or scapegoat.

Realizing in adulthood that I was probably autistic (and getting a diagnosis) has answered so many questions about this state of affairs. It doesn’t erase the pain, or make up for the experiences of friendship and belonging that were absent from my childhood, but it allows me to understand what was happening.

love being friends with other Cluster B people (though I haven’t really ever interacted with a histrionic) because our dynamics are just chaotic in the best way.. & we understand that we’ve got psychological impairments and yeah sure even though my aspd/npd friend hates dealing with when im emotional—and I can’t stop being emotional—I’ll trust that they don’t actually hate me. there’s a fundamental, unspoken understanding of each other. if they did hate my instability, they’d upright walk out while im having an episode. plus it really goes to show who your real friends are. like wow, you stayed through all that? 🫡 love you or something
