in case some fans don't know, liu qingge isn't in love with shen qingqiu. that's just widely spread misinformation. he's straight in canon.

liu qingge is someone with no experience or interest in love, so when he thought a fortune teller was describing him as shen qingqiu's fated person, he was understandably distressed. furthermore, he denied having any sort of romantic feelings towards shen qingqiu.

he can relax though, since luo binghe is shen qingqiu's soulmate madam meiyin was talking about.

Hey! I was wondering: what is your opinion on CQL!WWX? I find him way softer than the novel's version, especially when he has become the Yiling Patriarch. I dislike his adaptation of his original self, but I can't help to find him way less tragic. I mean, in the novel, you understand that he has lost himself, there is no come back possible. I didn't feel that in CQL. Yes, he was in a bad state but it wasn't as desesperate. Maybe because LWJ was more present? (Their relationship seems easier tbh)

Hello! Here’s our thoughts on CQL!WWX:

He is mentally weaker and I dislike that. In the novel, every time WWX life gets dragged down, he will overcome rather than be held down mentally. That mental fortitude is just lost in CQL. WWX is very self-assured, and so he knows there is no point in moping or letting anyone get to his head that things are ‘his fault’. He knows his worth, and isn’t easy to manipulate in this sense. He is highly aware of what he is responsible for and will carry that fault with him forward. (E.g. an unnamed cultivator said he won’t forgive WWX for buyetian. WWX too said he will welcome all who try to exact revenge bc he too will shoulder that blame and wont resent others for their revenge on him.) Unlike CQL!WWX’s mentality, novel WWX moves forward from that, never forgetting his past, but not letting it weight him down, and just moving forward. And this is imo, a stronger character. Sorry if I missed addressing the ask > ~ R

Hmm… I feel like he doesn’t have this lightness to WWX that I really loved and that immediately pulls you in when you read MDZS. WWX is supposed to have a sad backstory but he’s not a sad person/character. When I imagine WWX, he has a very light aura and he’s very naturally charming that even when he’s being annoying, you still like him. He always has a smile or a shadow of a smile on his face because he finds happiness and/or hope no matter the situation. But in CQL, while Xiao Zhan has a very bright and pretty smile, WWX was still very sad and he carried that sadness a lot even in the present time. I also feel like, during that time in the past from his first return from Burial Mounds to his death and even in the present, he was inconsiderate to CQL!LWJ and lacked empathy towards him in a way that WWX in the novel never was and, I think, never would have been given the changes in CQL. Lastly, I wish Xiao Zhan held back on the crying a bit; WWX is the type to not show emotional vulnerability as much as he can and would always project that he was strong and confident even during times when he felt otherwise, which was even more evident when he lost his golden core and became a demonic cultivator. The things I mentioned are things I feel didn’t have to change and I wish they kept to make him closer to the original. Other things I understand were changed to comply with censorship regulations. I definitely prefer the original WWX and I’m not really in love with CQL!WWX as a character of his own. ~ shay

I haven’t watched CQL so I’d rather not talk about CQL!WWX. I’m inclined to agree with the other mods’ thoughts though. ~ elle

汪叽 [wang ji] — Homophone of Lan WangJi’s real WangJi, MXTX usually uses this name paired with her Wei WuXian’s nickname ‘Wi-Fi’. First used by MXTX in a Chapter 7’s chapter commentary “WangJi’s much anticipated arrival”:

俏婉君 / 婉君 [qiaowan-jun / wan-jun] — 俏 meaning ‘good looking’/‘cute’/‘pretty’/‘rare’; 婉 meaning ‘graceful’/‘elegant’/‘beautiful’/‘gentle’/‘charming’. The ‘Wan’ is a homophone for 玩 [wan], which means ‘to play’/‘to have fun’. About wangji's evolution - I believe he grew up to be what he was going to be - he didn't evolve any extra than anyone else would during such political upheveal. I find that when characters like him (quiet, stoic, introvert, highly moral) have an arc, it is exaggerated & attributed to the other character ( extrovert, life of party, ect). While the other way never happens. That is, no one thinks the chatty/naughty one has changed for better due to the silent one - any change is about "love".

To me, LWJ didn't really "change". More importantly, his morals are the same. He only gained experience and because of this, he matured, got stronger and wiser.

What's different in present timeline is that LWJ expresses himself more. For example, he now talks back to WWX and is openly playful. In the past, WWX just didn't know these sides of him because he didn't see them. LWJ also wouldn't show much. I guess that's related to the forehead ribbon too, with how it means to regulate oneself. In a way, present timeline LWJ is unrestrained when he's with WWX.

What did change were his feelings for WWX. When they were studying in Cloud Recesses together, he wasn't in love with him. So maybe that's why he can seem impatient to some (but considering how awful WWX was, he was very patient to me).

His self restraint improved though. LWJ learned from his past mistake (kissing WWX without his consent) so even as WWX gets in bed with him attempting to undress him, or tries to bath with him, he stays still as a mountain.

And I wanna say, although WWX was initially shocked by LWJ when he was reborn, in the end, after everything happened and they got married, he says to him (chapter 113), "You really haven’t changed at all."

I haven't written a timeline of WangXian falling in love yet, but I think LWJ fell in love (or in other words, realised he was in love and accepted his feelings) when they were in XuanWu cave. It's hinted by the bite of the arm, that represents a chinese proverb about a lifetime oath (X). LWJ may have liked WWX before that but that's when he chose him as The One. MXTX also summarizes chapter 53 with "Wan-Jun wrestling out of the Yao-beast’s mouth, falling in love through a piggyback causing turmoil to the maidens heart". It's when LWJ sings WangXian to WWX too.
