Greetings. I will assume the name Lyca for the moment. I am an adult lycanthrope comfortable with any pronouns for the moment. I prefer werewolf/lycanthropic terms over any person terms, but I don't snap. I prefer to stay mostly anonymous as I've lived a life in shadows with my state and I am not quite ready to step into the daylight.
I am openly a lycanthrope with a mental health professional and I am currently working on methods to cope with and manage chronic painful shifting, and severe social species dysphoria resulting in dissociation. My lycanthropic identity is not a target of "curing" and I experience no direct disruption from that aspect. In the same manner my gender dysphoria and transgender discrimination is a problem and my gender is not, the negative aspects of my lycanthropy are issues to deal with while my identity is my own.
I hope to become more comfortable and accepting of my own identity in my time here, as in addition to all the negative aspects that plague me, the social stigma is something I have been encouraged to work through and accept myself in spite of that. Though I may not be the most frequent poster as I am fiercely shy and socially anxious. In addition to lycanthropy, I am Autistic, so many social cues do not function correctly with me.
While I believe and accept physical shifting, physical identity, and similar beliefs, I do hold the personal belief that anyone who experiences similar somatic/physical symptoms to me should speak with a professional to ensure it isn't something unrelated or dangerous. I experience chronic pain from diagnosed conditions which worsens with my lycanthropy. Managing the conditions helps manage the downsides of this state. However, I am not an imposing creature and respect all other's beliefs.
My only true instant DNI/block are those that harm others, such as pro-contact/m@ps, bigots and hateful creatures, and those who act with a lack of kindness. Everything else is case by case.
Otherwise, feel free to howl at me your questions and thoughts. I am looking for more creatures to follow in the clcz, physical identity, and holothere rings that aren't heavily rant-based upon the discourse of these labels. I am looking for experiences, slice of life, memes, fun content, and anything that isn't too focused on the frequently seen posts about the general outter community dislike of us. I am here to escape, not to boil in misery!
With more consideration of this, and plenty more sleep than I had at the time this was written, I don't believe it would do anything.
I believe my shifts are tied to cycles related to celestial bodies, not the moonlight itself. Hence why covering up in a dark building and forgetting does not stop my shifts.
In the same manner that some communities believe in the alignment of planets affecting their futures and luck, the alignment of the moon is my trigger, and repositioning myself hundreds of thousands of miles away wouldn't affect that.
HOWEVER, without keeping good track of the lunar cycle, there would be no way to figure out the position of the moon and fullness if you are on it, as I usually have the window to remind me of the date. You would have to track that yourself, and that would be a bit tedious.
I wrote an entire long post up, realized it wasn't posting, copied each paragraph, reloaded and had to re-login, only to find out none of it is in my clipboard and no draft was saved.
I'm not spending 20 minutes retyping the whole thing, so it's getting shortened to this.
Lycanthropy Central is almost finished, with the Server Directory and Disboard Description being the final steps.
I am awfully tired of humans and their total incoherent, inconsiderate, and irresponsible behavior. I try to avoid misanthropic sentiments, but it's nearly impossible with constant encounters despite being the one species with complex and symbolic thought. I was banned from a small roblox game discord server for pointing out their only running server was hijacked and unplayable, and after incoherent responses from two mods and a third that accused me of complaining, I was banned. This continues to happen as I try to "branch out" to feel more human.
The world appears to be increasingly worse in this manner, between the total lack of emotional awareness from standard society, and the progressive internet corner's increasing defense of equating kindness to empathy in order to be assholes, despite the full ability to be kind without empathy.
I have zero tolerance for this bullshit in my server. I feel so much euphoria from doing human things, in the same way some transspecies folk may feel, and making myself feel like a normal human brings me so much joy, but I claim no identity in human society. I hope my server will draw in those with similar feelings, and provide a safe and friendly space for the community.
We need more alterhuman propaganda. Get your orthohuman friends and/or family members to post online or submit to the paper about the time you saved the day and how your alterhumanity inspired them. Put posters and stickers around your city with links to resources or thought provoking sentiment .. etc etc
Put more alterhumanity into the world purposefully and methodically
hi Lyca! how’s it going with the lycanthrope / were discord server? U^ェ^U
Hello Anon!
I had to take a brief break from working on the server due to personal life business and chaos, but it is in the works and should be running soon. A huge portion of time-consumption was learning how to work the bots, having to go over each guide, etc. I have rules almost completed, channels set up, and one other moderator at the moment. I really look forward to finishing it, and I appreciate the question/interest in it!
Is it weird to wear Therian gear on a date? She knows I’m a Therian and is accepting of it and supports me, and I don’t wear gear out often cuz I’m scared to wear gear alone but
When you can’t exclude cishets from your label that’s supposed to mean “anyone except cishets”, of course “TERFS and transphobes” really hate it as well as accesting and progressive people!
The Q-slur is useless to advance the rights of sexual minorities. It should be disused and forgotten to the sands of time.
Usually I find chronically online trolls and bigots rather annoying but this was actually funny enough to be laughable. Turn the screen off and go out to a pride march, or check the news, or anything that involves real queer issues and queerphobia. I can't use the bathroom in multiple US states and risk being killed if I was publicly out, because I am genderqueer and sexually queer.
I don't need to spend my time on someone who wants to stir up problems in a community that, more than ever, needs to be united and focused outwardly. I understand the concept of queer folks sticking together as to not give you a chance to seperate out and discriminate is hard for your superiority complex, but I implore you to check the news and find a real sign to wave.
isn't it ridiculous how you're only allowed to have types when you're into conventional appearance and conventionally attractive things. if you're into fat people you're immediately labeled as a fat fetishist but exclusively dating skinny people is just normal. if you're into muscular women you're a disgusting gooner with a muscle mommy fetish but if you're into muscular men you're literally just a regular person. thinking feet is attractive is a fetish but being into boobs is the normalest thing ever even though both are non-sexual body parts
Whether you're a therian, phytanthrope, otherkin, otherhearted, fictive, otherlink, holothere, were, or fall somewhere else in the community, this is the group for you! 🦎🦈🐁

The background is a softly blurred field of white daisies and green grass under a bright, warm light. Numerous small, pale yellow paw prints are scattered across the scene. On the left side, there is a large, lime green Theta-Delta symbol (a triangle interlaced with a circle and a horizontal bar). To its right, the word "Therian" is written in a playful, rounded green font with a subtle drop shadow that makes it stand out.]
my tumblr feed has, for some reason, just turned into either 2 year old posts, the same relevant posts I've seen like 3 days in a row, or unrelated drama based upon bullshit opinions, and it's very quickly driving me away. I don't think I've ever seen an algorithm this bad.
After wrestling with the followed blogs and tags, I think I fixed the issue.
Never realized I was following lgbtq, and it seems like instead of giving me art or meaningful politics, it decided to only give me useless trans and queer discourse. I get enough ridiculous opinions on my identity IRL, I don't need that online in my safe space.
Also just unfollowed a few blogs that weren't posting stuff I was interested in. Nothing out of malice, just not interested in frequent irrelevant posts/reblogs.
I can handle some discourse occasionally, especially when it's meaningful, but I don't have the energy and emotional/social battery as a disabled and autistic individual to quarrel over issues that don't extent past pixels and hurt no one if you just use the block button.

remember in p.e. when they'd take a bunch of insecure teenagers & be like "today we're going to play basketball" and then not teach you how to play basketball. and then put you in a group with guys who were obsessed with basketball and would get mad at you for not knowing how to play basketball. why did they do that
I was just talking to someone about this the other day. I've never been in a public school, but where's the education in physical education in the US? At what point do you learn proper running form? What part of the curriculum contains how to properly recover your muscles from exercise? No one I know who has been through P.E. has ever touched on those topics in the US, although I can't properly speak on it. Online schooling classes never touched on it either.
I'm chronically ill, disabled, and have conditions that affect my pain and joints. I also run short races, and can sometimes do so without pain afterwards because I learned how to "wind down" on my own. Slowly decreasing speed, massaging the area right away, warm showers, icing it before it becomes a problem, practicing basic self care after I run. I managed three days at a convention with 20k steps on day 1, and about 12k on the other two days, and managed fine after besides the extreme fatigue afterwards from my conditions.
At what point in education do we start educating kids on how to be active in a healthy and safe way instead of just doing laps or playing sports?
[tagging for prey drive for those whose ‘types are generally considered “livestock” (so, sheep, cows, chickens, pigs, etc)]
cannot fucking BELIEVE i just saw a post saying this but??
being a vegan/vegetarian/even pescatarian alterhuman doesnt fucking make you better than those of us who eat meat on a regular basis???
also some countries actually have fucking standards for their meat production???
“if you’re not a vegan/vegetarian as an alterhuman, you deserve to go to fucking hell!!” is such a privileged and US-centric take
like i’m GLAD you can afford to supplement your iron and protein intake with expensive things that don’t have meat in them. i’m GLAD you’re taking a stand against cruel farming of cattle, chickens, pigs, sheep, etc etc, because from what i’ve seen, most countries have little to no regulations on the welfare of livestock
but not all of us are wealthy enough to afford supplements. sometimes, meat is the ONLY WAY we can get all our nutrients to be healthy
additionally, some of us actually live in places where there are STRICT welfare regulations for livestock!
i literally help raise the stock that goes into my own meat products. i help my mother’s ex partner and his family on their cattle farm. i KNOW that our cattle are WELL looked after. i eat the stock that i helped raise, and i eat that meat in confidence knowing that those animals had a GOOD FUCKING LIFE
they had all the fucking grass in the world to graze on, they had clean water, they were washed regularly, they had acres of land to roam. those cattle are not the same as the poor, sickly animals shut in warehouses in other countries.
do not fucking push your life style onto others.
i don’t shove brisket and chicken drumsticks down your throat, so don’t fucking shove your tofu and rocket salad down mine.
vegans and vegetarians are not fucking inherently more moral and better than those of us who choose to eat meat.
I think the comment on this from OP about how impressionable minors are the primary push against this post is important to look at to an extent. It's critical to look at how influencers like PETA and The Vegan Teacher influence younger kids and create tainted narratives.
While there is a dozen different things I could say on this topic, especially from human evolution and the natural state, I think I can take it from the perspective of a movie.
I recently watched Hoppers, the new Disney film. The resolution is an awful take, but if you have the discernment to disregard the "politicians aren't actually bad" resolution, there's some really important takes for the alterhuman community.
In the beginning, Mabel (the main character), repeatedly tries to intercept the natural order. While it's under awkward conditions and treated as a joke (for the sake of kids), it's important to realize how often this type of incident happens in real life. Most of us who are adults grew up with movies like The Lion King, where we learned how the "circle of life" works. We weren't shamed for witnessing death and understanding how life works, and we were given movies that help us process grief and value life cycles.
Recent purity culture from rising conservative values has destroyed modern media for today's minors and continuously taken out death and serious topics, including nature, from movies. These same values teach death as an end, either to suffering or to peace. They also teach that humans are seperate and above animals, and occasionally, are "guardians", and even those who escape those values still obviously have residual beliefs reflected in their empathy and/or morals.
The world runs in a circle. Continuously disrupting that through either excessive taking (overhunting) or excessive giving (overpopulation) breaks that cycle (leaving exception for medical/health necessity). Humans are not exempt from the cycle, they are just another animal species. If you have concern for the natural world, I implore you to take a look at the biggest threats to species currently (climate change, habitat loss, poaching, etc.). Make the choices that are best for you, but do not press that onto others.
I have a few prey theriotypes. Death isnt desirable, but it is a neccesary. That applies to my predator types, as well. And to humans, too. Once you start viewing humans as another species of animal, you can start to see how that cycle comes together for all of us.
