"why can't they just be friends" not in the homophobic way but in the "their platonic relationship in the source material is far more dynamic and complex than the sanitized personalities they gain as a result of shipping" way
"why can't they just be friends" not in the homophobic way but in the "this is a valuable exploration of intimacy and vulnerability that weâre conditioned to recognize only in romantic relationships but that can exist platonically as well" way

I might be wrong, but I donât think Adrien will be too angry (or angry for too long) when he finds out the truth.
Why?
He hates lies and secrets, but most of all, he hates when liars and secret keepers regret nothing and don't want to apologize.
Why do you think he ended his friendship with Lila? He used to be rather supportive of her despite knowing that she was a liar. Because he used to think that she lied to appear more interesting person than she really was to be accepted in the new school and make friends there. Until he realized that she lied to harm people and didn't feel any regret.
Why did he end his friendship with Chl/*e? They had been friends since they could remember each other, and it's not like he wasn't aware that she was a bully.
Because he kept hoping that she would change for the better until he realized she wouldn't, that she still thought bullying commoners was funny and that she regretted nothing, nor was she going to apologize to her victims.
Why did he get so angry when Marinette supposedly cheated on him? Not due to the cheating itself, but because she kept denying everything and didn't seem to feel any regret. I think, if she confessed everything and showed any signs that she felt sorry, he wouldn't be so angry, just sad that she didn't love him anymore. (I know she was innocent, so she couldn't confess anything, but I digress).
Why didn't Chat Noir abandon Ladybug at the end of s4, despite being mad at her for keeping secrets?
Because he knew for a fact that she regretted it. He could see how hard she was having it. He even heard it from herself when she didn't know it was Chat Noir she was talking to (Kuro Neko).
What I am trying to say is that Adrien (as Adrien and as Chat Noir) can clearly see that there's something wrong with Marinette/Ladybug. He sees both girls are not okay. He sees something is eating them alive. He knows there's something Marinette is trying to tell him, something that's too hard to tell.
When he eventually finds out, he most likely will realize that it was guilt and self-blame. He will realize how much lying to him has cost her, what a burden she has been carrying.
When he sees that someone who wronged him genuinelly regrets it, I think it would make it easier for him to forgive.
Thanks for coming to my ted-talk.
ok long meta analysis bc I'm probably working out what i've been feeling about Sadnansi as I go, but:
there's something about Marinette's arc in season 6 that's driving me absolutely insane. like in a good way. i'm losing my mind. And I think it all finally came to a head in this episode. which is appropriate bc it leads right into the final 3 eps.
The show has always built up the parallels between Marinette and Gabriel. They're both fashion designers, both come from more "humble" beginnings, (idk the Dupain-Cheing bakery seems to be popping off, but being a "baker's daughter" is still treated as shameful by many of the richer assholes in her life). Gabriel is described by past friends as having an eye for what styles can bring out the soul in its subject, the way Marinette is described by her friends now. Hell, Audrey Bourgeois straight up told Marinette that she reminded her of Gabriel in his younger years.
And they would both break the world for the one they love. Marinette made it very clear in Mr Agreste that she'd do anything to keep Adrien from harm. The way Gabriel broke his world to bring his love back.
I think some of yall really misunderstood the mirror scene. If you watched that and thought "ah, yes, the 14 year old girl who is scared and crying every episode is exactly like the abusive, deranged old white man who neglected and abused his son for years" instead of recognizing that the scene was specifically saying they are NOT the same and that Marinette and Adrien are BOTH victims of Gabriel's abuse, then you are a special kind of stupid.
y'all see what my girl is going through?? đ and you want me to hate her???
"gAbRiEl oNlY sAiD tWo sEnTeNcEs sO hOw cOuLd hE mAnIpUlAtE hEr sHe'S jUsT sElFiSh-"
How yall feeling after this episode, gang? Cause seems like she was feeling the effects of Gabriel's DYING FUCKING WORDS pretty hard this episode. But yeah. Keep blaming the 14 year old girl instead of the grown ass white man who became obsessed with children instead of going to therapy.
"Marinette is becoming just like Gabriel"
Hey, so, uh, that's called grooming. She's been groomed. Not in the sexual sense, but Gabriel took advantage of the situation and her feelings for Adrien to get what he wanted. Then he left her with his shit pile to clean up. Maybe stop blaming the little girl for the actions of a grown man.
RIGHT?!
i do genuinely believe that the best thing that can happen to a person Creatively is to just get obsessed with some random-ass guy
(these are my random-ass guys)
most unrealistic thing about marinette dupain-cheng is that she would have a much bigger purse. that tiny little clutch bag thing could NOT hold a knitting project. not even a single skein of yarn. marinette dupain-cheng would carry a huge tote bag everywhere with an arsenal of who knows what including at LEAST two knitting wips and a third project from a craft she's learning and 3 lip balms, 2 crumpled homework assignments, 3 notebooks, and a sketchbook. There would always be cookie crumbs in the yarn. Tikki sleeps in a bed of crumpled receipts and yarn scraps.
Head cannon uploaded and accepted.
I'm just imagining all the possibilities, from a running gag among her friends that everything you need at any given moment is in Marinette's massive bag, and if it isn't, you don't need it, to Marinette in civilian form knocking the shit out of an Akuma by slamming them in the face with her bag when they try to run past her.
Marinette in civilian mode doesn't need lucky charm, there's definitely at least one item in the bag that will suffice to defeat an Akuma.
Speaking as someone who wore a big vest with 20+ pockets everyday for 10+ years just so I could have all my trinkets, odds, and ends with me: you really do have an answer for any problem if you stockpile enough crap.
You also jingle when you walk, but that just adds so much perfect vibes to Marinette honestly.
Alya just being like "listen, our girl is here"
And then you hear the faint jangling as she waddles down the hallway hauling a bag one step below a Duffle, entirely hand knitted.
I want people to focus on the fact that Gabriel Agreste did NOT sacrifice himself, not even at the end. He was dying, he WAS GOING TO die that day because of the cataclysm. The condition for the wish is precisely one life for another (In this especific case). Who would he sacrifice? Marinette for Emilie? He would die, and then why would he resurrect his wife if he couldn't live with her? Nathalie had died, so he couldn't exchange her life for Emilie's. He only exchanged his life for Nathalie's because he realized it was the only option
He is selfish, manipulative, and only thinks about himself

i really love that they treated maddieâs reunions with wally and simon the same. both scenes have build up and slowmos and gravity too them. because both relationships are just as important to maddie as each other. her relationship with simon may be plutonic but that doesnt mean its not as important as her romantic relationship with wally and on the same vein, her relationship with wally may be shorter and newer but it doesnt mean its not as significant as her childhood bond with simon.
the different bonds are reflections of each other and the actions of wally and simon through out the show demonstrate the value the writers place in all kinds of relationships not just the romantic ones most shows focus on.
idk it just refreshing to have a writing/directing/acting team care about the friendships and plutonic relationships in a show just as much as the romantic ones.
Ooh. This is SO GEN X.... hopefully some of you younger ones will get it too.
I can't believe they left out the most important one...
