Urban Nests Sculptures made with recycled materials: papers, fibers, egg, and other found objects. Measures: 40 H x 35 W x 30 D cm.

The Venezuelan Artist, Mariela Di Nardo, has conceived and designed a serie of sculptures called "Urban Nests", made with found objects that have being used, loved, hated and discarded for useless, after all their transit in our lives. Varied forces of colors, textures, materials and layers, contribute together with their existence and history into her ecoart.The primary perspective evoked is "what objects really mean for ourselves on daily basics, how much we care about them, and how many of them we really need to our development and pleasure. "Her ideas and statements about her sculptures come from a wide variety of sources like psychology, culture, time-space, and a spicy ingredient: Humor! In this serie, she recreates: "the sense of hegemony that human being is sharing with other species: Nests = Homes". Venezuela "El Nazareno" Venezuela es reprimida y torturada por un régimen dictatorial.

Nos dejamos golpear una y otra vez por las circunstancias, y en reacción devolvemos cien mil veces patadas y golpes, o en su defecto, nos quejamos e intentamos ir a un ataque furtivo, silente, para aniquilar el dolor que esto causa, o nos alejamos de la circunstancia perturbadora aplicando el rechazo o la ignorancia. A mediano y largo plazo, nada de esto suele funcionar pues seguimos abatidos por lo irresoluto, confinados a ideas, acciones o formas de proceder que no permiten destajar relamente lo negativo que nos rodeó, continúa presente, y en último caso nos quedamos perplejos mirándonos unos a otros, porque el resultado de nuestras acciones resultó totalmente impredecible. Golpear significa cerrar nuestras puertas cuando las hemos abierto anteriormente, invadir el espacio-tiempo del otro, abusar en los procesos de compra-venta, traficar con la salud y sus derivados, destruir todo modelo innovador, positivo y vanguardista; atentar contra lo valuable, contra lo posible, contra lo magnificable. avila.ashes.101 Acrylic painting and Avila’s ashes on canvas. Measures: 300 H x 120 W x 3 D cm.

Interesting story behind this painting is that Caracas iconic mountain "El Ávila" was on fire in different areas for days, as usually happens in hot season. The wind spread its ashes over the city, and while I was painting one of its many layers, ashes entered through my studio window and stuck into the fresh paint. So after this peculiar event I named "avila.ashes"!
