@mauro-2002
I’m proud of all of us. This was a TEAM EFFORT, and we DID IT. Everybody hit the showers.
I looked this up and it is TRUE, Bye Bye Bye has reached number 86 on the charts as of the evening of November 7th. Other top 200 hits include Talkin’ About a Revolution by Tracy Chapman, Georgia On My Mind by Ray Charles, and Fuck You Goodbye by The Kid Laroi.
Reblogging this again to add that in addition to “Bye Bye Bye”, the following are also in the iTunes top 100 right now:
“Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus
“Celebration” by Kool & the Gang
“Fuck Donald Trump” by dropz
“Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” by Steam
“We Are the Champions” by Queen
“Dancing in the Street” by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
“Y.M.C.A.” by the Village People (which is especially petty and hilarious because Trump used “Y.M.C.A.” as his campaign theme song)
“Philadelphia Freedom” by Elton John
“Hit the Road Jack” by Ray Charles
Absolutely outstanding work by the American people tonight.
Here are some graphics I made earlier this summer for an Undergraduate Research program I am helping run through my university’s office for undergraduate research! I put together some informational pages about my personal experience doing research (which was generalized a little because I’ll be presenting to students in a wide range of majors). Next week I’ll be leading a Q&A panel and group discussion!

The Maned Wolf, Resident of the Grasslands of South America, is not a Wolf nor a Fox and is in fact the only Species of the Genus “Chrysocyon” (Golden Dog). They are the largest Canid of South America, weighing 20-30kg (45-66lbs) and can be 1.5m (~5ft) tall at the shoulders.
academia things that genuinely make me happy
large textbooks filled with extra papers which hold the answers to the problems you thought were too brilliant to be thrown away, or the simple short summary of a part you were struggling to understand before
having your textbook absolutely ruined by highlighters and sticky notes all over it, those little tips and ideas you picked up from the lesson. anyone who opens that book immediately knows that you’ve studied the crap out of it and know the concept by heart. “this is the most annotated book i’ve ever seen” is literally the highest form of compliment for me.
solving math or chemistry problems to a soundtrack album or ambient sounds, extra points if it’s in afternoon lol
when you’re so focused and keen on getting to the final answer that your hand physically can’t keep up with your eagerness so you end up with the most incoherent solution. but you’ve finally got the answer right!
being self-taught in a subject or a few chapters of the textbook, and still smashing the quizzes and the exams
coming up with a new solution to the problem, or seeing the problem from a new perspective, and finally being able to solve it because of just that.
confidently walking out of the exam room. 0 doubt in your mind that you crushed it!
actually feeling how you’ve grown academically, and how much more knowledgeable you are compared to the beginning of the semester
casually and confidently having conversations with a professor about your studies, exchanging ideas and discussing the existing theories, methods, on-going research and all
all of this is everything i want in life- god

You ever invite your coworker to watch you give birth just to spite a racist
Okay howmst the fuck has a ship doctor in the far future never handled a birth without the father present? Are sperm donors and gay couples and trans women no longer a thing in the bajillionth century CE?? :/
I while understand the frustration with erasure sometimes it helps to look at things through the cultural context of when something was made. Star Trek the Next Generation was made in 1987, this particular episode I believe aired in 1988 a time when a future where the husband was always present for the birth would have been amazing to many of the people watching the show as men had only been allowed to be present for the birth of their children for 10/15ish years at that point in the US.
Women (and many men) fought for decades with hospitals to even have men allowed in the delivery room during the early stages of labor, which can last for several hours, and hospitals only began to give in to their requests in the 1960s but even then they would be kicked out of the room by hospital staff before the actual birth took place. So many of the couples watching the show would have had to go through labor without having/being allowed to support their spouse regardless of their wishes. Having the child’s father present for the birth only began to happen in the 1970s and 1980s. Which means most people watching this show either went through birth without the support of their spouse, were not allowed to support their spouse during the birth of their child, or their own mother’s went through that during their birth.
A future where the husbands were always present for the birth was still a little crazy to consider in the late 1980s. A good kind of crazy for the people living in that time, it showed a future where the wishes of the couple were finally consistently listened to by medical professionals as a result of the actions of people during their or their parent’s lifetimes. And it does that by also subverting it in allowing Data to step into the role of the father when the father was unknown and/or unwilling/unable to fill that role (I’ll be honest my knowledge of Next Gen is a bit spotty and I have not seen this whole episode, just a piece of it at family Thanksgiving). The woman’s desires as to how she would give birth are listened to and respected, something that still doesn’t happen in many hospitals now and would have been seen as even more revolutionary then. So while it isn’t perfect I think this scene was actually fairly impressive for its time and cultural context and shows a future that many people of that time would have seen as ideal.
I SMASHED REBLOG SO HARD
THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING

Yall sleeping on this Sam L. Jackson interview about trump lmfao.
Samuel L. Jackson is an international treasure.
In 1966, during the height of the civil rights movement, Jackson enrolled at the historically black Morehouse College in Atlanta, the alma mater of Martin Luther King Jr. In 1968, when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, Kings body was brought to Atlanta to lie in state at Spelman College, the historically black woman’s school adjacent to Morehouse. Jackson attended King’s funeral as one of the ushers and then flew to Memphis to join an equal rights protest march that changed the way he thought. “I was angry about the assassination, but I wasn’t shocked by it. I knew that change was going to take something different – not sit-ins, not peaceful coexistence,” he stated in an interview with Parade about his reactions to King’s death.
In 1969, as mentioned before, he and a group of activist Morehouse students held the college’s board of trustees hostage, demanding that changes be made in the curriculum of the school and stating that they wanted more blacks on the governing board of the institution. Morehouse eventually gave in and agreed to change but Jackson was expelled for his actions.
That summer he became connected with people in the Black Power movement including Stokely Carmichael, H. Rap Brown and others.
“I was in that radical faction,” Jackson told Parade. “We were buying guns, getting ready for armed struggle. ‘All of a sudden,’ he said proudly, ‘I felt I had a voice. I was somebody. I could make a difference. ‘But then one day,’ he added quietly, ‘my mom showed up and put me on a plane to L.A. She said, ‘Do not come back to Atlanta.’ The FBI had been to the house and told her that if I didn’t get out of Atlanta, there was a good possibility I’d be dead within a year. She freaked out.’”
Jackson stayed in LA working in social services for two years and then applied to Morehouse and returning in January of 1971 as a drama major. “I decided that theater would now be my politics. It could engage people and affect the way they think. It might even change some minds,” he told Parade.
“You should stick to acting and stay out of politics” say some motherfucking fools
Netflix basically just ruined the career of a black Muslim woman. They fucked up with the promotion of that movie
Cuties is not some sick pedophilic movie.
The director, Maïmouna Doucouré, is a Senegalese woman and the movie is based off her own life. The movie talks about the hypersexualisation of young girls.
Y'all rushed to send her death and rape threats and she had to deactivate all her socials.
This is the original poster but for some reason Netflix decided to put out that other one and use that gross description.
You can talk about how frustrating it is that Muslim girls only get “I hate my religion and some white person is saving me from oppression” as representation. But this is not that. She’s talking about her life. The problems you have aren’t with her it’s with production companies.
this is a review from january, long before this poster controversy, and it notes that there’s some heavy and uncomfortable subject matter, but praised doucouré for the way she handled it. there is no mention of pedophilia or inappropriate content. a film where little girls are figuring out who they are and what it means to grow up in this culture that keeps sexualizing women younger and younger is difficult and it’s going to make people uncomfortable, but this film is not the problem. if you are raising your eyebrows at some of the things mentioned in this review, that is the point.
netflix botched this, they have admitted to botching it, they have publicly apologized, and they will release the film with a different poster. people are ruining a woman’s life and career because she dared to share her own story and dared to speak out about something that affects all girls and women. Maïmouna Doucouré’s coming-of-age movie criticizes the very outrage that’s now being lobbied against it.
I learned about tally marks yesterday!
(I cross mine from R to L, but Jake does his straight through)
I was watching a kdrama and they were tallying a vote and I was just like: 😍😍😍😍
Cus I’d never considered the cultural implications of tally marks. Lol, I just thought lines to five are lines to 5, ya know? Then I read the whole wiki page and now I want to learn more!
Are there other ways? How do you make tallies? Tell me moooooooore lol ^-^
And this is the exact reason, I and countless black women are frustrated. Once again, we are being swept under the rug, and this movement is being centered around black men only when both black men and women are affected by racism and police brutality. Please do not leave Breonna Taylor out of your posts.
I’ve never seen femicide inspire riots on this scale either. When women are murdered by their violently misogynistic abusive fathers, husbands, boyfriends, pimps/traffickers, or just random men who got rejected, nobody takes to the street on this scale and shows this much rage as the systematic murder of women by men who abuse and hate women. Very few people take femicide seriously as a hate crime, but women are murdered by violently misogynistic men every day, and black women are victims of femicide at disgustingly high rates, usually at the hands of her own partner or family.

Tama is boss
THE TRAINS HAVE CARTOON TAMAS ON THEM
Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.
Beautiful.
Now I’m crying thanks
and a new cat was hired right?
yep! her name is Nitama (essentially ”second tama” or “tama II”) and she served under Tama as an apprentice before being appointed her deputy
she works very hard
Everytime this crosses my dash, I reblog. It is the law.
I’m crying at 11pm over train cats
Nitama, already now a mature cat (born 2010), has a protege named Yontama (fourth Tama, b. 2016). There is no information available for either the physical befellment or tragic self-disgrace which has removed Santama from contention.
^Nitama majestic, and below with Yontama
Yontama.
a legacy
okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back
“Sun-tama-tama” (a pun off of “Santama”, lit. “third Tama”) was a calico cat sent for training in Okayama. Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]
As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.
Every time I see this post there’s new info and it gets better
You are only allowed to scroll pass this after you pay tribute to the great Tama Station masters.
The shrine of Tama Daimyōjin (Great gracious deity Tama), next to the Kishi station where she worked.
Nitama presenting her yearly offerings to Tama Daimyōjin on the anniversary of Tama’s Death, June 23 (The offerings are presented by the company president, as Nitama is a cat and thus can’t hold the offerings herself) (Not pictured, but also present, Yontama)
you cannot pass without reblogging guys. i’m sorry, i don’t make the rules.
