These shoes are made for calling amazing, beautiful, terrifying, and deadly storms, and that's just what they'll do. I've been having fun mixing my own colors with sliders, and working in 100% opacity. It's been leading to more confident shapes and giving me untold levels of freedom with my colors.

Another sketch turned color study to fill the time on the holidays :) This time I tried a color palette lifted partially from a painting by a local Seattle great, Brom.

A knight! Drawn at today at The Conservatory’s Sunday long pose life drawing session. Probably the most “finished” a drawing of mine has looked. The @wyliebeckert influence is showing strong today.
In tonight's #dnd campaign, our heroes met Big G, a sassy, unspeakably adorable mind flayer but a handful of years old. In a move of shocking foolishness naivete that would surely anger any veteran player, we took the scrappy young abomination under our wing and set out to destroy the evil wizard that had kept him at bay.

Moon Child
The silent undercurrent which permeates throughout our lives.
Often forgotten, always present.
Never speaking, always heard.
Knowing nothing, understanding all.
It waits just beyond our reach. It waits patiently for its moment to speak. We cannot know what it will say. We can only pause, and listen.
Experimenting with graphic elements tonight! Success requires actually organizing - even naming! - your layers, something I was woefully unprepared for. Inking and tiling your own textures on the fly though is endless fun and feels like cheating - or taking full advantage of the medium, depending on your outlook.
Never settle in to a lifestyle that doesn't keep you learning. A lazy sunday called for much needed studying, relaxation, and style experimentation. Actually trying out the mixer brush for once, and wow, this feature's come a long way since its inception. I think @kyle.t.webster is to thank for at least some of that.
One Which Weaves
Slumbering somewhere beyond time is a great spider. Her many arms reach curiously for us as we struggle across her web. Her flesh is our cradle, her maw is our grave. The spider embalms us and consumes us, and one by one, we dutifully join her in dreaming.
When the web finally falters and frays, we will wake at last, and together we will weave a world anew. Prints n things

That’s fantastic to hear - every spirit or concept I draw comes from some authentic place inside me, which I cast out with the hope it will resonate with somebody who shares it. Glad to know we found each other! I have something special for you coming later today :)Also, The One of Many Faces; The Firstborn sounds incredibly similar to one of the entities on my to-draw list. If I ever get around to creating that One, would you mind if I used that name for inspiration or even a title? That sounds pretty rad.

The Comfort of the Deep I went and saw Moon Tooth with my brother the other night at El Corazon in Seattle. Opening the night was a wonderful local sludge act called Breag Naofa. As soon as the first deep, heavy, atmospheric chords hit, I remember feeling overwhelemed with a dense wall of comfort that blended physical and mental. That sensation is something that can be found throughout sludge and progressive metal and really marks it as a genre of music that should be seen live to truly appreciate. This rough digital sketch is based on a #sketch I did during their set. It's a love letter to all sorts of deep, heavy media, and the paradoxical comfort we find getting lost in it. (Moon Tooth was a completely different experience with its own takeaways. Those takeaways are bright, full of color, and for a different time and a very different painting.)
Got to see some Grade-A local metal acts open at The Kraken Bar last night in what may have been their best lineup yet. Aethereus and Odyssian were their names, and their riffs (and a few well-priced drinks) coaxed these tasty thumbnails out of me. Cheers to you guys! \m/
