Week 17 - a lot of woody based activity this week, there’s a few more shots of our pallet workshop and “The Throne” (work in progress) and we’ve secured some landscape fabric so can get on with more path mulching by woodchip. Yesterday our clients Wayne, Richard and Martin recycled some semi rotten benches into a new guinea pig enclosure. It’s being tested today, pictures to follow, if they don’t escape. You can see how the light has changed now we’re properly into autumn and the temperatures have dropped off accordingly. I’m planning for our Seeds of Change raised beds and hope to get some winter crops of onion, garlic, cabbage and lettuce in, amongst others. Our polyanthus bedding is rooting nicely and should be ready for sale in a another week or two. I must add my thanks to kids club who helped us shift all that soil conditioner onto the beds in our long polytunnel. They did a great job. The summer cuttings I took of woody shrubs are doing ok,I’ve lost a few but I’m hoping they’ll perk up come spring. The rest of our cutting stock has taken quite well for the most part so fingers crossed we will have a modestly stocked garden centre for next year - all home grown too!
