So how’s the art coming along guys?
I dunno, stop apologizing for your art. This includes not posting enough, too much, changing style, inconsistent style, repetition, subject. Its your art its your expression. Have fun.
WHY YOU SHOULD WRITE HORRIBLY:
1. You’ll never write anything if you don’t
Be Me: Just finished my Final after staying up for 24 hours to finish it fully
Be excited as hell to have a week off from school to do whatever I want artistically, and get to work on projects that got pushed aside for school.
Wake up Monday Morning with the worst headache that nearly makes you throw up.
Rot on the couch with medicine and cooling head press.
Sure you love your dog. But do you love your dog enough to start designing a fursona after them?
Because I do
@factual-fantasy
i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.
Yee yee!!! You got it right on the nose!
Bounce light is something I didn't cover but I adore it!
Gotta work on my bounce light 💪
not my tweet but I thought it would be a good psa for artists here too

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

Studio Assignment - Genre Switch
Hazbin Hotel now Apocalyptic
This week we were essentially asked to create AUs for a show of our picking and keeping the visual style of the show but change its Genre setting.
My brain immediately screamed Hazbin and Zombies
I'm a but unhappy with the background colors buy I was a bit rushed.
Should I do the rest of the Cast?
A little Whimsigoth Isometric room 💜🖤
I kinda stink with environments and this was suppose to be a 2 parter, the Iso angle and then the whole set rotated 90°....well I kinda...didn't get that second one. Oh well better than nothing!
Oh my god I have it in my 1946 Lily Wallace New American Cookbook too I’m screaming
This is it! This is the white culture we’ve been looking for!
I’m sorry are we just not gonna mention “Beef Tea” “Raw Beef Tea” and “Cooked Raw Beef Tea” one after the other
#WHY
Because the majority of human existence has not been to the knowledge and supply level we are at now. You can’t just give someone electrolytes in the 19th century, you have no idea what the fuck they are. Someone is sick, and can only keep weak liquids down, but you know enough at this point to realise that man cannot live on water alone. So you work out really weird ways to infuse foodstuffs into liquids they can handle to try and keep food into them. A lot of these also come from a way to stretch nutrient sources in times of poverty and scarcity.
Thank you for this addition. People are curiously comfortable assuming everyone in the past was stupid and illogical, and it’s always struck me as showing a sad lack of empathy for fellow human beings. It’s like people in the past aren’t seen as, you know, people
Your local 19th century PhD researcher popping in here to add to this. Toast water is 100% a drink for treating illness. It turns up listed in several household medicine guides in the 19th century, and is listed as for treating people with fever, diarrhoea and vomiting, who can’t keep anything down. It’s essentially oral rehydration therapy.
It interestingly starts turning up in literature in the period covering five major cholera outbreaks in the UK and US (this was obviously an English language Ngram search).
And peaks several times at epidemic peak points (1830s, 1850, 1880s), including its first peak in 1831/2, which corresponds with the first cholera epidemic in the UK.
It also corresponds with the year William Brooke O’Shaughnessy discovered that a lot of people who were dying of cholera were severely lacking water and salts in their blood and urine. Dehydration was found to be a major cause of death in cholera patients. “Toast water” was suggested in the Lancet medical journal in 1832 as an initial treatment for cholera patients.
Most of the recipes in household medicine guides I found suggest sweetening or flavouring the toast water with something if the patient could keep it down in order to cover the terrible taste.
People in the past were just people. And in this particular case, they were trying to keep their loved ones from dying of cholera.
Its also something so medically logical?? Like “this person is dying bc they are loosing too much water. Lets give them water then.” So simple. But so logical.
Coming up with options to help sick and dying people is white culture yes.
This is also why soups are incredibly important to stretch limited ingredients over a large batch
If you would hate on your ancestors for not being taught the things you learned in school, you would hate the people in third world countries today – let alone the uncontacted tribes – that also do not know these things. You’re not being progressive, you’re being bigoted.
You’re also spitting on the efforts of the generations of scientists who worked through trial and error to arrive at the body of knowledge that you know get to learn without all of that trouble.
This is an ingrateful and arrogant attitude. Anyone with such an attitude is incapable of discovering anything new, because they are convinced they know everything. And because they would be too afraid to risk being wrong in the pursuit of trying anything new to solve today’s mysteries.

PSA: For fan works, reblog and like from OP
Tumblr is rolling out a new reblog/notes system that completely disregards creators. In their new system, they're taking a twitter-style approach where reblogs will have their own notes that DO NOT contribute to the original post's notes.
Because of this, creators will no longer be able to see an accurate display of likes/reblogs/etc. This is completely altering the way feedback and responses to works are going to be received on this website.
If you come across a fan work that you enjoy, please take the extra step to go to OPs original post, and leave your comment/like/reblog there. Or go one step further and send an ask to OP directly to tell them what you liked!
I really hope Tumblr staff reverses course and reverts to the original reblog system for the sake of the large base of creators who use this site to share their works, but until then, please be considerate and make sure the creators here see/feel the love.
Gravity Falls but Vertical - Storyboard
Animation Production+Design class had us taking an excisting show/games trailer or opening and change the viewing from Horizontal to Vertical. Because I am really cool and normal and not hyped for the Art of Book, I quickly jumped on Gravity Falls...and quickly ran out of time to finish for submission cuz my computer ran like butt.
With Iron Lung viewing number 7 done, I kinda want to just...draw out my 3 favorite uses of the camera framing in the film just cuz I love them and I don't see people talking about them or the use of the camera for framing too much.
It deserves it...to me
