Last night, 30 Seconds Away premiered at the Milwaukee Film Festival. The film goes deep into homelessness in Milwaukee, demystifying some of its causes and legal process, while creating a rare opportunity to hear the stories and voices of chronically homeless men. It is an important film for our city and beyond.
Two more opportunities to see it during the festival — 10/2 @ 3:30pm at the Times Cinema and 10/6 @ 9:45pm at the Avalon.
The Young Farmers Program in Metcalfe Park teaches young people ages 8-12 about healthy food, and provides an opportunity for them to sell the food. The Young Farmers celebrated their final day of work this past Saturday. "The Factory" (on 23rd & Scott in the Clarke Square neighborhood) was open for Doors Open Milwaukee today. The cluster of studio spaces includes independent artists and craftspeople working with a variety of mediums, including ceramics, woodworking, 3D-printing, painting, screen printing, upholstery, and more.
