The last bit of my #hourlycomicday2023 I do hope this tandoori goes well. This was the last dinner I ate before my appendix bursted 😆😅 not afraid at all. But very fitting for today's theme I guess😅 The naan bread turned out great btw. And I'm still eating smaller amounts to rebuild the trust between me and my intestine. So ofcourse I bit off more than I could chew. Being on the mend is very difficult for me. So, I actually gave up on my Skyrim story idea. And needed some time with angry thoughts. But then I saw Kris' #hourlycomicday in her story, done in traditional media (slide 5) and got inspired again. Since I already messed something up today, I had something to talk about now. Hahaha! Plus Erik decided we were eating tandoori tonight so that meant making Naan bread as well. #hourlycomicday2023 was today! I strongly doubted about participating this year. Since my appendectomy, and its extra post-rumblings, I still get quite tired/nauseous/meh after my morning antibiotics (slide 6) and am not able to do a lot for the rest of the day. Making this not very hourly-diary worthy. After some pondering I decided to make up my own skyrim based comic to make it more interesting then swallowing medicine and doing nothing all day... I mean I tried! After passing the worst I actually wrote a funny story.(slide 9) I tagged some friends in slide 8 that were also participating today. We were discussing our strategies this morning. I got home safely (last Saturday)! And last night was the first night that my jetlag let me sleep through the night at least. Since I've been waking up from 1 to 5 am 😅. Next stop will be full nights of 8-9 hours bc my body needs the sleep to restore from this epic trip! #happyhalloween for any and all of you who celebrate! I made this little lady and her cat #mucha style as my "businesscard" for @lightboxexpo since a print has lesser chance to get lost in the heaps of cards you can't remember anymore when you refind them. Last day in California. Today I'm flying out! The stress is real again with nightmares and everything😅 This is about the fear of missing the plane or forgetting important documents etc ofc. These are my three art direction pages for @armand_serrano mentorship. Technically I do now have the tools to redo my keyframe but the time was up. 8 weeks of hard work between 9 lessons. With a thorough study about the differences between a mouse and a rat. Since that just became confusing to me at some point. I'm especially proud of my clothing folds in the third slide. I followed the @aaronblaiseart course at #creatureartteacher for those. Like a little side class for the mentorclass.😉 This concludes my mentorship with Armand. Thank you so much for teaching! I know this is late (again) but I had to get to San Fransisco where I will hang around for a bit. Let me know if you are in the area! This is the environmental page for my mentorship with @armand_serrano Thanks to that guy I got introduced to @adobemedium and sculpting in #virtualreality . And during this mentorship he introduced us to @twinmotionofficial to place your sculpts into surroundings and light it. It even has the coolest line art filter. The mesh created this way is all kinds of big and difficult, and you'll have to be a pretty good uv mapper to make ane texture work, or maybe sculpt cleaner. Still, I am very happy with my results! It is so fun to work like this, litteraly building the world you had in your mind in 3D who does not want that right?! This is the keyframe I started from our spring term 2022 mentorship with @armand_serrano we got 14 awesome awesome prompts to choose from. And just to get out of my comfortzone I chose "the mouse duo getting caught stealing rations in WW1 by a British soldier." (I never had even drawn a gun or a helmet before hahaha) In this mentorship the most important takeaway was that no design gets left behind. No single lines to indicatie anything, give everything form front to back, no shortcuts. We got shown such amazing art from thenillustration golden age for storytelling inspiration and I got the most beautiful paintover on this one as well. And these were just the first three weeks of the 8-9 weeks. I like designing props. Simple and quirky. This method I learned from Victoria Ying's course on @schoolismlive or at least, my quick and dirty version of it.
