There's a tasty and slightly spicy twist on regular burgers in these Green Chili Whiskey Onion Burgers. The green chili mayo and whiskey-caramelized onions give your burger a unique kick.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 1/4 cup whiskey. 2 large onions, thinly sliced. 4 slices of pepper jack cheese. 4 hamburger buns. 1/4 cup diced green chilies. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce. 1 tsp garlic powder. Salt and pepper to taste. Lettuce and tomato slices for garnish.
Instructions: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sliced onions until they caramelize, about 15-20 minutes. Pour in the whiskey and let it simmer until reduced by half. Remove from heat and set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into 4 patties. Grill the burger patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until your preferred level of doneness is reached. During the last minute of grilling, add a slice of pepper jack cheese to each patty and allow it to melt. While the burgers are cooking, mix together the diced green chilies and mayonnaise in a small bowl. To assemble the burgers, spread the green chili mayo on the bottom half of each bun. Place a burger patty with melted cheese on top. Spoon the whiskey caramelized onions over the patty, then add lettuce and tomato slices. Finally, top with the other half of the bun. Serve the Green Chili Whiskey Onion Burgers hot and enjoy!
