âBut when the fire died, Tyson was still standing there, completely unharmed.â
Me on this blog because the season 2 trailer dropped
THIS IS NOT A DRILL THEY ARE FILMING THE CIRCLES SCENE!! đąđ
Justice for Circeâs Island at long last
Glad weâve finally gotten a canonical pronunciation of âThaliaâ
Youâre watching the show because you think the actor playing a character is attractive.
Iâm watching it because I want to study the choices the actor makes in their performance and think about what it means for the character as a person.
We are not the sameâŚ.
But we are both â¨so valid⨠for that đĽ°
Canât talk, Iâm busy
turning off the volume of my shows and watching the charactersâ body language and facial expressions in order to see past just the words theyâre saying and how they say them.
Like G-d my autism intended
Parallel Edits, where 2 places are shown at the same time and create a mirror-like (or parallel) effect, will always be one of my all time favorite techniques
Obviously the show has been doing everything better than the movies so far but I wanna talk particularly about the reveal of Luke as the traitor.
When Luke and Percy fight in the movie, itâs this big action sequence with a little bit of monologuing from Luke about how itâs time for demigods to âre-mold the world in [their] image.â Which is technically, technically book-accurate.
But the delivery of it makes Luke look like a clear-cut villain. The megalomaniacal tone, the smirk, the way he taunts Percy, etc. Heâs not built as a sympathetic character.
But in the show.
In the show, Luke looks excited to tell Percy about his plan. Heâs so confident that Percyâs going to understand where heâs coming from and join him immediately that he tries to reason with him. But when Percyâs horrified expression doesnât change, thatâs when Lukeâs tone starts to change. But he still isnât some overconfident, cocky opponent. He continues to try and explain himself and he does so with tears in his eyes and a bitter but still hurt expression on his face.
Movie Luke is a villain who wants to overthrow the rulers of the world because theyâve been in power too long.
Show Luke is a kid whose parent let him down.
Neither of their actions are right, but only one was written to be understood.
Annabeth: *using her dagger for target practice*
Percy: *watching her make a bullseye and yelling at the top of his lungs* I SAID, whoever threw that dagger, your momâs a HOE
Every Demigod within 20 feet: *staring at Percy in horror*
Percy: *smiles and walks away without a word*
The fact that they chose to put the lotus flowers into the air of the casino to keep people at the hotel when casinos-pumping-oxygen-into-the-air-in-order-to-keep-people-playing is literally one of the longest-running Vegas myths, thus combining a Greek myth with a Modern myth?
BRILLIANT
The Roman Empire wasnât built in a day and therefore my Roman Empire shanât be built on one scene.
Percy praying to his mom instead of the gods? Thatâs in there.
The stairwell switch in the St. Louis arch? That too.
The first Percabeth hug? The very streets on which Romans walk.
Waterland and the gold throne? Thatâs whole temple column, that is.
Grover gaslighting the god of war with ease? Immaculate, yes, welcome to the city.
Sally and Poseidon in the diner? You cannot have an empire without it.
Percy meeting his dad for the first time? Long live Rome, my friend.
I canât pick just one scene, this whole show is my Roman Empire.
Throughout the series. We get small hints that Luke has a âcomplicatedâ relationship with Hermes.
But we also see Percy, whoâs frequently discontent with Poseidon (and very vocal about it) so, if anything, we assume that Lukeâs feelings are somewhat of the same.
But then we get to episode 8 and see how Luke reacts to Percy even mentioning Hermes.
Look at the way Lukeâs expression changes the second that Percy starts talking about Hermes. The disgust in the sneer thatâs pulled onto his face is absolutely palpable.
Then the way he cuts Percy off immediately by going on the offensive.
And the ferocity in that two-handed swing. He put his full upper-body into that swing.
Though his monologue while trying to recruit Percy explained the way he felt about the gods in general, this one small fraction of a second showed how his feelings for his dad got him to this point.
Why am I not seeing any post-Atlas Annabeth art from the show? I feel like weâre not thinking about the possibilities of Leahâs hair with the gray streaks and that feels like a crime.
In her natural hair?
Gorgeous
In her braids?
Stunning
Thereâs literally no style that she wouldnât absolutely eatđ¤Š
Letâs make more post-titans-curse-tv annabeth art
Percyâs face when Sally mentioned Grover playing a role in getting him kicked out of schoolâŚ
The way his face scrunches up really tight before relaxing? Thatâs anger.
But not the kind of anger we see in him in the last episode.
This is the kind of anger that makes you cry. The kind thatâs underpinned by embarrassment and hurt and feeling like youâve been treated unfairly.
Percy knows he didnât push Nancy into the fountain and he thought that, if anyone would have his back, it was going to be Grover. And then he didnât. And itâs unfair to Percy. Itâs Wrong. Because no one believes him, apparently not even his best friend.
And the way he closes his eyes and takes a really deep breath? Thatâs a tactic thatâs literally recommended to stop yourself from crying when youâre angry. It allows your body to âcatch upâ with your mind.
What do you wanna bet that Percy learned that from a school counselor?
If Walker Scobell can manifest his way into the role of Percy Jackson by carrying around a picture of a Poseidon statue, I can surely manifest my way into 4 more seasons by posting on my silly little website
ITâS WORKING GUYS
annabeth saying zeus will never let percy leave olympus alive and percy replying "I'm done running from monsters" like the line between gods and monsters is completely blurred
