I think for the sanity of homosexuals, we shouldn't be put on a scale (bec homophobes always seem to think they can drag us back along the scale). Homosexual literally just means attraction to one's same sex (the sex you are). Hetero means different (from the sex you are).

basically i feel like while there are people that are strictly homosexual and heterosexual, there is a large amount of people that are bisexual with preference, and end up mislabeling themselves because they cannot relate to the "bisexual community" at large and feel confused

because if i would consider everyone from 2-5 on the kinsey scale to be bisexual, but this also includes people who would call themselves "straight with an exception" or "gay with an exception" for lack of a better term, because they are only incidentally/very rarely interested in the opposite/same sex, which also muddles the definition of homosexuality (see tumblr lesbian discourse)
