Wei Wuxian COMMUNICATED why he was calling out the entire gentry at their little feast while they tortured people in a death camp they made after they won a war. He COMMUNICATED to Jiang Cheng WHY he was staying to protect the Wens that were persecuted because no one else would and he let Jiang Cheng stage a defection fight and then Jiang Cheng was the one to call him a traitor with no prompting other than his own hate. Wei Wuxian COMMUNICATED to Lan Wangji he understood he was in a terrible position of no fault of his actions actually and he hoped being secluded would take the gentry world off his back. He COMMUNICATED to Jin Zixuan how stupid setting up an ambush against him was and he wasn't going to go off to be imprisoned because he knew Jin Guangshan was getting impatient for a chance to frame Wei Wuxian.

Many of you randomly seem to think Wei Wuxian talking about his core loss would magically anything pre-seige if he mentioned this to either Lan Wangji or Jiang Cheng when one part already hated him and was jealous and the other already TRIED to stand up for him and was ignored because the gentry had it in their head to frame Wei Wuxian as much as possible. So again WHAT can he communicate that would somehow stop Jin Guangyao from being a sniveling rat?

Hi I deleted it because I really just don’t want to argue with the fandom over a stupid joke that I honestly never thought anyone would take so personal, I still don’t want to argue. In the end we both like the same books even if our reasons and interpretations are different and I don’t want to make an enemy of a community that until now has been nice to me over a joke that was taken the wrong way. Charles is literally that exact line from Epic the Musical “you are the worst kind of good cause you’re not even great”.

He isn’t great and he is barely even good. Erik has his morals, even if they are misplaced. He is loyal to the mutants and there’s no way in hell he’d ever let any of his decisions conciously aid humans and as much as inconvenience mutants. His actions may be radical, but at least they’re clear. You don’t have to ponder for ages whether he actually wants the best for mutants. He does, even if he doesn’t know how.

Charles, on the other hand, can’t even keep to one front. He’s not on mutants’ side or humans’ side. He needs to create his own, a third side where he tries to please everyone. Instead he’s in conflict with both of the other sides. His actions are chaotic. He fights mutants who he pretends to care about and protect and lets humans push their fearful agenda onto them. To be frank he’s more on humans side than mutants. He betrays his own people because he’s so desperate for coexistence that would never work solely because it’s humans who don’t want peace and yet he keeps coddling them. His morals? Misguided. Situation? Misjudged. Sense of belonging? Gone. He’d rather try to fit in with humans and that’s what he teaches his students.
