No.6 Japanese Audiobooks

While it's not of much interest to the English-speaking side of the fandom, Kodansha has started to release Japanese audiobooks of the original No.6 series. They are narrated by Shindou Kei, who voiced Inukashi in the No.6 anime. The first installment was released a month ago, and the second was released yesterday (though Kodansha has yet to make an announcement about it). You can listen to them through Audible Japan here.

I listened to both and loved them! I'm super excited for the rest of the audiobooks, and I hope they do Beyond and Reunion as well. If you speak Japanese, I highly recommend them. They are short at less than five and a half hours each.

realized ive reblogged a couple of posts about it these past few days, but fandom needs community to function. tumblr culture is different than it was a decade ago where posts where the only way to communicate unless you used fanmail in lieu of DMs, but i think that now makes it more important than ever to do what you can to push back against fandom siloing.

i guess it kind of feels like a recursive cycle of no one is posting about my fandom on tumblr > ill post on discord instead > no one is posting about my fandom on tumblr. and i admit im guilty of this too!! i talk about no.6 way more on discord and there's tons of really great discussion and art and fic memes on the no.6 discord that never make it to tumblr.

on discord you dont need reach in a fandom for people to see and engage with your stuff! tumblr it's much harder unless many people in the fandom use and check the tags regularly.

no.6 fandom in particular has the problem of the fandom name being very generic, so there's 4+ different tags that are used with varying degrees of frequency and not everyone uses the same ones (#no.6, #no. 6, #no6, #no 6). i tag my posts with all of them but that's not common practice

i want to see more no.6 community on tumblr!!! i know there are no.6 fans here!!! i see you in my notes all the time!!! i just don't know how to make community happen. any suggestions? reblog or reply to this post and tell me!

What if we started actively disincentivizing landlords letting real estate stay empty rather than renting at reasonable prices? Like, give them a maximum of three months to get a new tenant in, and then they start accumulating fines for the unused space.

And some similar system to disincentivize the ridiculous airbnb market as well. Make it unprofitable to have homes sitting empty in a city where people with jobs find themselves living in tents. Hell, make it unprofitable to have homes sitting empty anywhere that has a homelessness problem.

The fine? The full rent amount they’re asking for. You think $1700/month for a studio apartment is reasonable? Well, until you get someone into that apartment, you’re going to be fined that same sum every month.

For Airbnb, a lower cost, but still based on how many nights/month the space is unused, and the fine will be based on the asking price per night.

literally email this idea to your local city council representative or similar lowest level government person. if there are meetings that are open to the public, go speak your piece there. an idea like this is very sensible, and this is an issue they are thinking about.

there will be traction. I’m not saying you can get it to happen, the owners of large complexes have a lot of control over your local government. but it’s not complete control, and good ideas are powerful.

Milwaukee and San Francisco are also looking into policies like these. These ideas are out there and being explored, and I think that’s pretty neat.

My city passed an ordinance requiring airbnb rooms to be registered with the city and they get a certain number of allowed rental days depending on whether it’s owner occupied.

We had to fight a huge marketing campaign from airbnb, but we won. Definitely write to a city council member. You can use Jersey City as a test case. They will be able to find news stories.

I’m pushing the vacancy tax idea on our most progressive councilman, too.

he said that when he lived in texas they changed the law to define marriage as “between a man and a woman in a house of religious worship with the intention to have children” so he filed his taxes as single and when they called him up like “you filed married last year” he was like “you changed the law, i was married by a judge in a courthouse and i have no intention of having kids” and they told him “you know who that law was for” and i guess he hung up on them and did not, in fact, pay taxes as a married man that year

Okay so I just got off the phone with them. I talked to a trans girl named Aurora & she was super helpful! She gave me a few doctors to talk to & encouraged me to seek therapy instead of just rushing to get my pills. She literally found a trans friendly therapist in my town & I would definitely recommend giving them a call!
