In every way this is set up to be a joke like any other short video, it even uses the trope of main character in a wig to represent their mom, but it isn't funny at all. It's just sweet and nice

zoey comes to rumira with a shower thought about how derpy would wear pants (the long way which covers only both sets of legs or the short way which covers up the butt and hind legs) and mira ends up designing and creating both versions for him. sussie then crashes out because he canât steal the pants like he did the hat due to how large they are, and starts being kinda aggressive towards mira until zoey comes to her with a set of designs for bird pants that she gives in and makes for him

dpxdc prompt: bring back souvenirs
Dani travels a lot, right? She goes where she wants, has a great time, and moves on. Danny has his own things going on, usually absolutely insane things btw, and it's not until recently that he's started having time to keep in touch with Dani during her travels. He insists on it now.
Annoying, but also kinda nice. That sums Danny up perfectly.
But how can Dani share everything she does on a weekly basis? what does she highlight? This is new territory for her, having someone sincerely asking after her well-being and day.
Danny suggests collecting souvenirs, mementos, things that Dani can bring out to remember a story by or send to Danny as 'signs of life' (ha, lol).
She ends up enjoying it, and Danny ends up with a tiny bit of a hoard he keeps safe for her in the GZ.
Then she has an encounter with a superhero. The first of many to come, actually. And just- it would be sooo cool to get a souvenir from this, Danny would flip, she's gotta.

On the other side of this, Damian's brothers won't stop bringing up the girl he saved during a rogue attack who then proceeded to haggle him into autographing her dagger sheath (no, Richard, Drake, having a personal dagger is not That Weird. we live in Gotham). Sure she somehow kept up with him for most of patrol to get it, but that's why she earned it.
Superboy the clone lost a pair of shades to some sassy child he got a selfie with that actually said 'yoink' as she took 'em and then? just? vanished from all senses???
Zatanna takes a photo with a girl after a show, and there's definitely something supernatural about her, but she's gone as quickly as she appeared.
Flash gets approached by a teen with a recorder/camera (probably some amateur reporter or school project?) who asks a few questions about time travel and a weird hypothetical about ghosts that only escalates.
Captain Marvel finds a glowing girl with white hair stealing snacks in the JLs base. On one hand, trespassing, on the other, he's done the same thing. She shoots out of there and is gone before he can do much of anything.
And various others/whoever you choose/something totally different.
"Dani you're gonna get put on a super watchlist"
"what the fuck, is this a real baterang?" "finders keepers đ"
"wdym you paid for chilidogs with Superboy the second and pet the Superdog." "yeah it was awesome! think i can convince Cujo to come next time for a doggy playdate?" "next time?"
"You've gotta stop taking little gadgets and things from heroes and vigilantes" "don't worry I made sure there were no trackers" "that's not... not the point"
"You met a bunch of Amazonians? don't tell me you went to-" "ok I won't <3"
"So any idea who tried to hack Tucker's tech?" "eh probably a bat" "....Dani" "they're funny!!"

if you see a Jabberwocky in an American National Park i cannot stress this enough you HAVE to report them to the nearest Park ranger. I know, I know, they fill human hearts with terror and whimsy in equal measure, but they are an aggressively invasive species in the Americas. Jackalopes are at risk of becoming extinct because during shedding season they have no natural defences against jaws that bite and claws that catch.
You don't have to worry about them killing it, they're actually endangered in England due to Victorian Era overhunting, so the British government's provided the National Park service with Vorpal Tranquilizer Darts so they can safely transport them to their native British Countryside where they can feast on borogroves and jubjub birds to their hearts' content.
Jabberwocks are starting to really intrude on the territory of the Snallygaster and crowd them out. Please report when you see them and help preserve our American monsters!
Biologists prefer the term âfearsome crittersâ, just FYI. They resemble monsters but only due to convergent evolution.
When I was young I had this book called people who work at night and as a little kid it was really comforting to know that there were people awake while I was asleep (especially bakers for some reason).ďżź

No memory - DC x DP prompt
Danny is trying to lay low in the DCU. Then he gets kidnapped for his own summoning, along with a bunch of other people, and volunteers himself as a sacrifice to avoid anyone actually dying. His bad luck means the summoning was legit. He doesnât really transform, but his eyes glow bright green, his hair has white glowing spots, and there is a spark around him. That's when people he has by now identified as this universeâs heroes/vigilantes finally arrive.
Now, Danny really doesnât want to deal with questions in either form, but he is also basically homeless. So he figures out a way to maybe fall under these heroesâ/vigilantesâ jurisdiction for a while without having to answer any questions:
He pretends to have complete amnesia.
When the heroes/vigilantes wonder why only his name stayed in his memory, they theorize that it's about some fae rules of how he never gave his name to Phantom, and that's something the entity can't take away.
"He volunteered for the sacrifice which counts as giving everything away, and that's why he has no memories."
"Then why can he still remember his name?"
"Because he didn't give his name. That's a while different level of fae consent. It's probably the only thing that saved him."
"Would that extend to the rest of our world? It could explain why there's no documentation proving he exists."
"It's definitely likely. They would have tried to erase all traces of his identity, to tie him further into the fae realm."
If Danny is very new to this universe and hasn't done more than a basic research binge so far, he'll also be genuinely surprised when learning 'common knowledge' things, which will add to the authenticity of his act.
Surprisingly, this is not a Hitchhikerâs Guide to the Galaxy reference, but an actual fact. From Burnout: Solve Your Stress Cycle, by Emily and Amelia Nagoski
What does it declare???
âIt will grab you by the face, shove you to the ground, put its foot on your chest, and declare itself the victor.â
The really interesting thing (imo) about this chapter of the book, is how it defines rest. Itâs not talking just about sleeping, but also things like social connection and physical movement. So the 42% of your day that is rest might involve:
Meaningful conversation with someone you have a connection with
Exercising
Paying attention to your food, whether thatâs shopping for it, cooking it or eating it
Socialising
Daydreaming
Each of us will need a different balance of these things, and each of these individual things will be different from person to person. The socialising and the meaningful connections might be IRL or it might be online - one of the examples in the book of something that counts as rest is âlive-tweet Games of Thrones with a thousand fellow fansâ.
Itâs a really interesting book - definitely worth reading :)
(And Douglas Adams was obviously right all along - 42 is the answer to Life, The Universe, and Everything;)
don't ever look up what your childhood friends are up to now!!!!!!!!!! like girl you're a nuclear safety engineer. i put on matching socks today. we played tag a thousand years ago.
Yeah
Why is it referred to as coming out of the closet?Â
It could be coming out of anything. What wasted potential.
Coming out of my cage and Iâve been doing just guys
#if you want the pedantic answer bc Iâve actually researched this for my thesis#there doesnât seem to be a for sure agreed upon origin of the phrase BUUUUUT#it seems to be a combo of two earlier phrases âcoming outâ and âskeletons in the closetâ#coming out started to be used by gay men in 1920s new york bc a âcoming outâ was the 1st time a debutante would debut into the dating scene#so gay men would have their âcoming outâ when they first went onto the gay dating scene#a skeleton in your closet is a shameful/dirty secret that would often only be revealed once a person died#for a lot of queer people their queerness was something they literally took to the grave#so being âin the closetâ meant you were the skeleton in your closet#I couldnât find an exact confirmation of when the phrases began to be combined but it seems to be around early 1970s gay liberation movemen#at the time a popular protest chant was âout of the closet and into the streetsâ#which I think also helped to popularize the term#Iâm putting all this in the tags bc I realize this is a silly post that is meant as a joke and I didnât wanna ruin the punchline#but I also wanted to provide an answer for those who were curious
One of the best things about being a writer is thinking of something small you can add to your work thatâs just. Devastating. Like youâre sitting there going. Oh. That would be diabolical. People would get really riled up about that. Exquisite. Letâs do it.
She got the idea for the study while walking with her advisor at Stanford to discuss her thesis topic, and the paper she eventually published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology in 2014 is sharp enough that it should have ended the seated meeting on the day it came out.
She ran 4 experiments on 176 people. Same person tested twice. Once sitting, once walking. The creativity tasks were the standard ones psychologists have used for decades to measure how good a brain is at generating novel useful ideas.
81% of participants in the first experiment produced more creative ideas while walking than while sitting. In the second experiment, 88%. In the third, 100%. Every single person walked into a more creative version of themselves. On average, people generated 60% more novel useful ideas the moment their legs started moving.
The skeptical question is the obvious one. Maybe it was the fresh air. Maybe it was the scenery passing by. Maybe it was the change of environment doing the work, not the walking itself.
Oppezzo killed every one of those explanations with one experimental decision. She put people on a treadmill facing a blank wall. No scenery. No fresh air. No environmental change. Just legs moving in place while staring at white drywall. The 60% boost held.
Then she ran the experiment that closed the case completely. She took participants outside in two conditions. Half of them walked through a Stanford courtyard. The other half were pushed through the exact same courtyard in a wheelchair. Same outdoor stimulation. Same scenery passing at the same speed. The only difference was whether the legs were moving.
The walkers produced dramatically more novel high-quality ideas than the wheelchair group. The outdoors did almost nothing on its own. The walking did everything.
She also tested the opposite kind of thinking. Convergent thinking. The kind where there is one right answer and you have to narrow down to it. Word puzzles where 3 words share a hidden fourth word that connects them. The seated participants did slightly better on these. Walkers got slightly worse.
Walking is not a general intelligence enhancer. It does one specific thing. It opens up the divergent search inside your brain. The part that generates options. The part that produces unexpected connections. The part that takes a problem and finds five ways into it instead of one.
When you need to converge on the single right answer, sit down. When you need to find the answer in the first place, get up.
The mechanism is now well understood. Walking selectively activates what neuroscientists call the default mode network, the system inside your brain that runs when you are not consciously focused on anything. The DMN is where mind-wandering happens. Where memories cross-reference each other. Where ideas that have been sitting in separate folders inside your head finally bump into each other.
When you sit at a desk and force yourself to concentrate, you suppress the DMN. When you walk at a natural pace, the executive part of your brain gets just busy enough handling the walking that the DMN comes online and starts doing the work that focus was blocking.
The most useful finding in the entire paper is the one almost nobody quotes. The boost did not turn off the moment people stopped walking. Participants who walked first and then sat back down stayed elevated. Their next round of seated creativity work was still significantly better than people who had been sitting the whole time. The rest lingered for at least several minutes after the legs stopped moving.
You do not need to do creative work while walking. You need to walk before the creative work. The brain holds the state.
