The door of Ed's childhood house, slamming closed as his father leaves in anger.
Stede essentially breaking down the bathroom door, just to find Ed and check if he's okay.
These sounds also happen consecutively - we hear one door close in the past, and another one is opened in the present.
Such an excellent subtle metaphor for this whole moment. Stede opens a door that Ed has kept shut since the incident. He's never told anyone the true story before, and Stede is there to reassure him that he's not an awful person because of what happened. He still deserves friendship and love. Ed is a good person at heart, and so much more than his trauma.
Ed and Stede get to leave that room, and the past, together and stronger for it.
