That is a nice question. But first, let me apologise that it took me so long to reply. Bad me U_U
So, in answer to your question, my favourite GK rarepair is Teren Holsey/Micheal Stinetorf. It's so rare that I'm the only person who has ever posted anything for them... (at least to my knowledge. If there's something out there I don't know about, please send me a link!)
As for headcanons for them? Oh, I have an entire document full of them. I'm not kidding, I actually have to have that kind of thing to keep everything sorted and plausible and consistent for my T/Stiney fic (it got a little long at currently 390k... ^_^V). I made up very complex backgrounds for both of them down to family lines etc, so I have too many headcanons to count. But let me name a few here - I want to make you happy, after all ;D
Random reasons for my fascination with T and Mike
ever since that blowing-up-the-school scene in ep. 5 I've been sold on them. And they have the vibe of being such a unit that I just couldn't resist them XD I mean, look at that ↑
look at that height difference.... that's like Brad and Ray. And it's adorable (also, Teren actually is about as tall as Brad, and Mike is about as tall as Ray XD)
they're both very interesting characters despite the little screen time they get. They're not just some stereotype but rather the opposite of the respective stereotype, and I find that very intriguing. If you add the books as a source, it gets even more interesting (let me know if you want me to elaborate on that ;D)
both T and Mike have really nice voices, and I'm intrigued by how changeable especially Mike's voice is
it's adorable that the guys call Mike 'Mikey' in canon (when they load the refugee kids onto their humvee)
it's also adorable that Mike calls Teren 'T' (school scene)
canon shows both of them as avid readers who pick challenging books. How could I not turn that into their shared thing?

Mike with longer hair and a goatee is so pretty that it's dangerous. Which is why he ends up looking like that in my fic as soon as he's out of the Corps. He's just too delicious XD (okay, maybe I am superficial after all...)
Headcanons for them as a couple:
T and Mike are friends first - really close best friends, and they get called an 'old married couple' by the Bravo guys and roll with it
even before they become a couple, they're very comfortable in each other's space. Physical closeness with each other not only doesn't bother them, it comes as naturally as breathing
Mike is bi with a preference for men (Kinsey 5) and he's experienced (but of course he's not out, because of the times as well as DADT)
T thought he's straight until he falls for Mike, and then he learns that he's a Kinsey 1 rather than strictly straight
Mike is the one to kiss T first. He didn't intend to, and he's scared shitless when he realises what he's done, but then T surprises him with his reaction (and let's be honest here, T surprises himself, too)
Mike has a little mole on his bottom lip on the right side. T is (not so) secretly obsessed with it
Mike's obsessed with T's mouth, period. Those are the most sensual lips he's ever seen and he can't get enough of them, doesn't matter if T's smiling or kissing him. It's always sexy as hell.
Mike tends to run hot while T tends to get cold easily, and they make use of that perfect match inside and outside of their relationship. Actually, a lot of the guys who've been deployed with Mike before call him a 'two-legged furnace' and he's known to be surrounded by guys cuddled up to him when it gets really cold on missions (of course T gets first pick XD)
Mike has an intense affinity for cinnamon. He always carries a little container of it with him and puts it in everything from coffee to MREs. He's a bad influence, because T also develops a taste for it. The rest of Bravo thinks it's disgusting and they love to rib Mike (and then T) for it
Mike calls T an 'octopus' because T tends to wrap around whoever is sleeping close to him/in the same bed with him - doesn't matter who it is. Like, the whole octopus routine, with legs and arms and all. T's been a sleep cuddler since he was a kid and he never grew out of it and he's well aware of it (Mike never complains about it)
when they're visiting their respective families after OIF and spend time apart for the first time in months, they both realise how much being close helps them genuinely sleep - and how negatively it influences their sleep to be apart

Oh yessss, I do 😁 There’s a fourth part in the works for my Q-Tip/Christeson series Boundaries, which will explore some of them (of course, in order for you to read that, I’d actually need to finish writing it, and my Muse is not having that right now -_-V)
SFW:
- John tends to call Q-Tip by different names depending on the situation: Q-Tip mostly around others, Evan in private, Ev when they’re intimate (or when he’s pissed off and has a point to make XD)
- once they get over their initial awkwardness about the whole ‘I have the hots for another guy’ thing, they’re actually very touchy-feely - only when they’re alone and in private, of course.
John loves to card his finger through Q-Tip’s hair against the grain, because even then it’s still stupidly soft. He does it all the time, when they’re on the couch together, when they’re getting busy in bed, and even when he just walks past him in the kitchen or their shared barracks room. Q-Tips complains, but never actually avoids his hand or tells him to stop, so John doesn’t.
Q-Tip has issues keeping his hands to himself around John. When they’re alone, he tends to be touching John one way or another almost all the time, be that lying smack against him while reading or wrapping his arms around his waist when John’s cooking or hooking his arm around John’s neck when they’re standing next to each other or pressing his leg against John’s under the table or even just playing with the corner of his t-shirt. He knows it’s cheesy and really girly, but John always leans into his touches and sometimes even closes his eyes and makes a sound like a cat purring - especially when Q-Tip is playing with his fingertips over the nape of his neck - so Q-Tip doesn’t care about how corny it may be.
- John is more okay with the not-being-straight thing than Q-Tip, and they end up in more than a few arguments because of it. Especially once they’re both out of the Corps, those fights can get quite nasty because they’re both very stubborn.
- because they’re young and stupid, they go out and get tattoos together at one drunken Bravo Two reunion after Ray challenged them along with a few of the guys. Q-Tip insists on getting that stupid daisy that John drew on the back of his kevlar in Iraq tattooed over his hip bone. John ends up with the literal depiction of a Q-tip on the inside of his right upper arm. They get teased mercilessly about it, but considering that Manimal, Gabe and Chaffin now each have a fucking tribal-style unicorn on their ass cheeks, nobody reads too much into it. Fortunately.
NSFW:
- Q-Tip loves being manhandled. He never admits to it and he never even knew about it before that time when John shoved him into a restroom stall and then proceeded to kiss him senseless. But yeah, he has a thing for John showing his strength and skill, for John pushing him down into the couch or shoving him into the wall or cornering him against the kitchen counter or fucking picking him up until Q-Tip has no choice but to wrap his legs around John’s waist or end up falling on his ass. He also has an inkling that John’s noticed it, even if he apparently knows better than to address it directly. Instead he just does things, and well... let’s just say that Q-Tip’s not complaining.
Considering that my Muse has abandoned me since April, I’m sure I will come up with more headcanons once I get back into writing, but for now that’s it. I hope you had fun with those ;D

Maybe those are scrappers trying to train 'reviewbots' to be sold as part of some scam service promising to give feedback for newbie writers, who the fuck knows.

I’ve really been enjoying your fic Unit. I had a while without cell service and so I preemptively downloaded the whole fic. It made for a great treat after a day of work.
You have a true gift for writing, and seeing the writing get better and better each chapter has been wonderful. Your characterization is on point, and has so much depth and insight and I know the amount of jargon and military knowledge must have taken a lot of research.
The Brad/Nate relationship has been one of my favorite aspects of the fic along with the sorta magical realism aspect of auras with Rudy’s chapters (which is easily among my favorite POV’s).
If you have any recommendations for other Generation Kill fics/media/fan content (especially with aspects like magical realism/vampires/supernatural elements etc.) please let me know.

I'm so sorry that my reply comes so late! I've been completely gone from fandom for about three months because work was trying to kill me with the hours I had to pull, but now I'm back, and your lovely and motivating ask has been on the top of my to-reply-to list ever since I got it. Just so you know, you totally made my day with this, or rather my week. It was like a light in the pitch black of my work days (that included the weekends U_U), and it really gave me a boost. Oh dear, Unit is a monster even in its unfinished state, but I admit that makes it perfect for downloading and reading without cell service - you're not going to run out of words too soon XD I love that it could act as a wee treat for you every day after work <3
Aww, thank you so much for the love! Unit has been running for so long that I'd be surprised if there wasn't a development in style over the course of its existence. I definitely dug deep into the settings as well as the characters for this fic, but I have to admit that I have already been active in the GK fandom since 2011, so a lot of the background and jargon was already there - at least to a significant degree. I still learned tons of new stuff during my research sprees for Unit. I also love climbing into characters' heads, not just my main characters but others as well, and Unit was the perfect opportunity to do so excessively (and as you know, I have indulged in that shamelessly XD). I'm glad you enjoy it and that you think I get them right, be it Ray or Tim or Brad or Poke (and more coming, I'm not done yet. You'll get a Q-Tip POV later on, too ;D)
Actually, the Brad/Nate stuff just kinda snuck in there without me planning to include it to that degree. I mean, background, yeah, sure, but now they have their own chapters with a number of them coming later in the story So it's good to know you enjoy that part of the fic ^_^V In fact, the next two Unit chapters are Brad/Nate-centric...
Rudy is his own category, isn't he? And I love writing him because it's such a very different experience compared to writing the other characters, so you will see more of him, too. As for the magical realism, I have actually used that before in my Tim/Ray fic Impossible Relationships, specifically in chapter 80, which is a Rudy POV and therefore also includes the aura aspect (it's kinda headcanon for me that it's always the case with Rudy XD). I guess you can even just read ch 80 and it would still make sense, so if you want to give it a try without reading the entire story, that would work ^^
As for other fics with magical realism, I also have Touched to offer, which is Band of Brothers/Generation Kill crossover where Doc Roe and Doc Bryan meet, but it's canon timelines and no time travelling. The magic part is based on the traiteur legend of the bayous, which is the skill to heal by touch, which both Gene and Tim have. I should warn you, though, that so far it's at 80k and currently on hiatus, because I have so many other long fics finish. I will finish the fic (I have tens of thousands of more words already written), but for now it's a wip. Might not be your thing, so a fair warning. Off the top of my head I can't think of any magical realism fics in GK although I know they exist (more than a few), but then, my brain's just beginning to recover from 370 hours of work under GK-during-invasion-like sleeping patterns, so please forgive me. I shall let you know when I think of some, my friend!
Are you thinking of working on Touched ever again? I thought itvwas such a beautiful work and would have loved to see more. It seems like you're not as motivated to write BOB stuff at the moment but if you ever update that work, know you'll have at least one reader lol
Oh my, that's a good question, but I hope it'll make you feel hopeful that I can give you a resounding YES!
Touched is not abandoned at all, and I have in fact about 38k more of it written already (and the next two Gene chapters are pretty much done and very long XD). And I have the story plotted out to about 90%. The biggest issue is that I'm so stupid weak to let my Muse draw me into several 100k+ word ongoing fics simultaneously (as of now there are 5 😭), and sadly my brain is only able to focus on one thing after the other (because it obsesses about whatever it's hooked on 😅).
I have come back to work on Touched here and there over the past three years, though, and it's on my mind a lot. Unfortunately work is actively killing me this year and it'll be another 7 weeks before I get any time off. But worry not, my beloved reader, you WILL get more for Touched. I'm not going to leave that story unfinished. It has a special place in my heart, and I couldn't ever abandon out hot medics/corpsmen and their intertwined stories. Wayyyyyy too much fun XD
To be honest, your love for the story makes me so so happy and I already feel how it motivates me (which I sadly have to clamp down on because there's a deadline approaching for work and I even have to work through the weekends U_U). Yet another post that reads like four shakespeare characters who come out in the middle of the play to talk about something completely unrelated for comic relief
I’m sorry but the THOUGHT that has been put into this, I actually CAN’T—
The fact that nearly every line is so metrically considered- near perfect iambic pentameter witb the occasional trochee for emphasis, but usually retaining a strong sense of rhythm nonetheless. And then the king comes in at the end, so wound in his disbelief that his response is reduced to prose.
And the even better thing about this is how easy it would have been to structure the king’s line into iambic pentameter: it is effectively already said as such because of the way wizardlyghost has phrased it, yet they haven’t!! They did not break the line, rendering what, by all typically of both Shakespearean canon and other periods context should be the character with the most command and authority in the whole play. If there was ever a more effective way to convey a genuine “what the fuck??”, I know of it not.
But it gets better!! Shakespeare regularly uses meter in order to represent class divide; the nobility usually speak in iambic pentameter, save for a few particularly chosen moments (e.g. Lady Macbeth’s descent into madness, Othello’s realisation of Desdemona’s “betrayal”) or just lines where Shakespeare needs to suggest high emotion or when a character is lost in thought. Supernatural characters like the fairies in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Witches in Macbeth usually speak in trochaic tetrameter, an inversion of iambic pentameter. Lower class characters, particularly those used for comic relief (usually under the influence of alcohol), speak with no structure at all: their language is plain prose. Therefore, if this is a conversation between these types of characters, as the prompt from silvergirachi suggests, why the hell are the characters speaking so eloquently???
Now, this is Tumblr. It is subsequently logical to assume that this may have merely been a humorous recreation (and a very good one at that) of the Shakespearean style in a way that is widely recognisable to an audience that may or may not have read a great deal of Shakespeare, which is understandable. However, logic is boring so I’m going to probe further into this to the point where future historians will look to this as an example of overanalysing.
The inherent eloquence of the characters here suggests an unusual subversion of the roles typically assumed in Shakespearean comedy. This could be interpreted along two major avenues: firstly, that the rhetoric displayed by the speakers is fundamentally representative of how truth can be expected even from the most seemingly pointless or ludicrous discussions. Furthermore, it could suggest that it matters not how well constructed your speeches are: if you talk bullshit, it’s going to sound that way despite your attempts to hide it.
This is similar but not identical to the second avenue of interpretation: there is the implication that the noblemen in the play are in fact the comic relief characters, therefore implying that the “common people” of the play are the ones whose influence, though not expressed in such a highly spoken manner, makes a lot more sense than whatever the hell this is. If this was a real Shakespeare play, I would call it a subtle exploration into the innate corruption of the rich and powerful. Well done, op.
Now, I doubt any of this is actually grounded analysis in any way, shape or form, but if someone else can take this to the extremes of writing a Shakespearean scene, why can I not analyse it as such? And where else to do so than Tumblr?
I am on my knees begging you to reblog this post and to stop reblogging the original ones I sent out yesterday. This is the complete account with all the most recent info; the other one is just sending people down senselessly panicked avenues that no longer lead anywhere.

Cliff Weitzman, CEO of Speechify and (aspiring?) voice actor, used AI to scrape thousands of popular, finished works off AO3 to list them on his own for-profit website and in his attached app. He did this without getting any kind of permission from the authors of said work or informing AO3. Obviously.
When fandom at large was made aware of his theft and started pushing back, Weitzman issued a non-apology on the original social media posts—using
his dyslexia;
his intent to implement a tip-system for the plagiarized authors; and
a sudden willingness to take down the work of every author who saw my original social media posts and emailed him individually with a ‘valid’ claim,
as reasons we should allow him to continue monetizing fanwork for his own financial gain.
When we less-than-kindly refused, he took down his ‘apologies’ as well as his website (allegedly—it’s possible that our complaints to his web host, the deluge of emails he received or the unanticipated traffic brought it down, since there wasn’t any sort of official statement made about it), and when it came back up several hours later, all of the work formerly listed in the fan fiction category was no longer there.
THE TAKEAWAYS

THE TIMELINE, THE DETAILS, THE SCREENSHOTS (behind the cut)
Sunday night, December 22nd 2024, I noticed an influx in visitors to my fic You & Me & Holiday Wine. When I searched the title online, hoping to find out where they came from, a new listing popped up (third one down, no less):
This listing is still up today, by the way, though now when you follow the link to word-stream, it just brings you to the main site. (Also, to be clear, this was not the cause for the influx of traffic to my fic; word-stream did not link back to the original work anywhere.)
I followed the link to word-stream, where to my horror Y&M&HW was listed in its entirety—though, beyond the first half of the first chapter, behind a paywall—along with a link promising to take me—through an app downloadable on the Apple Store—to an AI-narrated audiobook version. When I searched word-stream itself for my ao3 handle I found both of my multi-chapter fics were listed this way:
Because the tags on my fics (which included genres* and characters, but never the original IPs**) weren’t working, I put ‘Kara Danvers’ into the search bar and discovered that many more supercorp fics (Supergirl TV fandom, Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor pairing) were listed.
I went looking online for any mention of word-stream and AI plagiarism (the covers—as well as the ridiculously inflated number of reviews and ratings—made it immediately obvious that AI fuckery was involved), but found almost nothing: only one single Reddit post had been made, and it received (at that time) only a handful of upvotes and no advice.
I decided to make a tumblr post to bring the supercorp fandom up to speed about the theft. I draw as well as write for fandom and I’ve only ever had to deal with art theft—which has a clear set of steps to take depending on where said art was reposted—and I was at a loss regarding where to start in this situation.
After my post went up I remembered Project Copy Knight, which is worth commending for the work they’ve done to get fic stolen from AO3 taken down from monetized AI 'audiobook’ YouTube accounts. I reached out to @echoekhi, asking if they’d heard of this site and whether they could advise me on how to get our works taken down.
While waiting for a reply I looked into Copy Knight’s methods and decided to contact OTW’s legal department:
And then I went to bed.
By morning, tumblr friends @makicarn and @fazedlight as well as a very helpful tumblr anon had seen my post and done some very productive sleuthing:
@echoekhi had also gotten back to me, advising me, as expected, to contact the OTW. So I decided to sit tight until I got a response from them.
That response came only an hour or so later:
Which was 100% understandable, but still disappointing—I doubted a handful of individual takedown requests would accomplish much, and I wasn’t eager to share my given name and personal information with Cliff Weitzman himself, which is unavoidable if you want to file a DMCA.
I decided to take it to Reddit, hoping it would gain traction in the wider fanfic community, considering so many fandoms were affected. My Reddit posts (with the updates at the bottom as they were emerging) can be found here and here.

Smells unbelievably scammy, right? In addition to those audacious prices—though in all fairness any amount of money would be audacious considering every work listed is accessible elsewhere for free—my dyscalculia is screaming silently at the sight of that completely unnecessary amount of intentionally obscured numbers.
Speaking of which! As soon as the post on r/AO3—and, as a result, my original tumblr post—began taking off properly, sometime around 1 pm, jumpscare! A notification that a tumblr account named @cliffweitzman had commented on my post, and I got a bit mad about the gist of his message :
Fortunately he caught plenty of flack in the comments from other users (truly you should check out the comment section, it is extremely gratifying and people are making tremendously good points), in response to which, of course, he first tried to both reiterate and renegotiate his point in a second, longer comment (which I didn’t screenshot in time so I’m sorry for the crappy notification email formatting):
which he then proceeded to also post to Reddit (this is another Reddit user’s screenshot, I didn’t see it at all, the notifications were moving too fast for me to follow by then)
... where he got a roughly equal amount of righteously furious replies. (Check downthread, they're still there, all the way at the bottom.)
After which Cliff went ahead & deleted his messages altogether.
It’s not entirely clear whether his account was suspended by Reddit soon after or whether he deleted it himself, but considering his tumblr account is still intact, I assume it’s the former. He made a handful of sock puppet accounts to play around with for a while, both on Reddit and Tumblr, only one of which I have a screenshot of, but since they all say roughly the same thing, you’re not missing much:
And then word-stream started throwing a DNS error.
That lasted for a good number of hours, which was unfortunately right around the time that a lot of authors first heard about the situation and started asking me individually how to find out whether their work was stolen too. I do not have that information and I am unclear on the perimeters Weitzman set for his AI scraper, so this is all conjecture: it LOOKS like the fics that were lifted had three things in common:
They were completed works;
They had over several thousand kudos on AO3; and
They were written by authors who had actively posted or updated work over the past year.
If anyone knows more about these perimeters or has info that counters my observation, please let me know!
I finally thought to check/alert evil Twitter during this time, and found out that the news was doing the rounds there already. I made a quick thread summarizing everything that had happened just in case. You can find it here.
I went to Bluesky too, where fandom was doing all the heavy lifting for me already, so I just reskeeted, as you do, and carried on.
Sometime in the very early evening, word-stream went back up—but the fan fiction category was nowhere to be seen. Tentative joy and celebration!***
That’s when several users—the ones who had signed up for accounts to gain intel and had accessed their own fics that way—reported that their work could still be accessed through their history. Relevant Reddit post here.

We’re obviously not done. The fanwork that was stolen by Weitzman may be inaccessible through his website right now, but they aren’t actually gone. And the fact that Weitzman wasn’t willing to get rid of them altogether means he still has plans for them.
This was my final edit on my Reddit post before turning off notifications, and it's pretty much where my head will be at for at least the foreseeable future:
Please feel free to add info in the comments, make your own posts, take whatever action you want to take to protect your work. I only beg you—seriously, I’m on my knees here—to not give up like I saw a handful of people express the urge to do. Keep sharing your creative work and remain vigilant and stay active to make sure we can continue to do so freely. Visit your favorite fics, and the ones you’ve kept in your ‘marked for later’ lists but never made time to read, and leave kudos, leave comments, support your fandom creatives, celebrate podficcers and support AO3. We created this place and it’s our responsibility to keep it alive and thriving for as long as we possibly can.
Also FUCK generative AI. It has NO place in fandom spaces.
THE 'SMALL' PRINT (some of it in all caps):
*Weitzman knew what he was doing and can NOT claim ignorance. One, it’s pretty basic kindergarten stuff that you don’t steal some other kid’s art project and present it as your own only to act surprised when they protest and then tell the victim that they should have told you sooner that they didn’t want their project stolen. And two, he was very careful never to list the IPs these fanworks were based on, so it’s clear he was at least familiar enough with the legalities to not get himself in hot water with corporate lawyers. Fucking over fans, though, he figured he could get away with that.
**A note about the AI that Weitzman used to steal our work: it’s even greasier than it looks at first glance. It’s not just the method he used to lift works off AO3 and then regurgitate onto his own website and app. Looking beyond the untold horrors of his AI-generated cover ‘art’, in many cases these covers attempt to depict something from the fics in question that can’t be gleaned from their summaries alone. In addition, my fics (and I assume the others, as well) were listed with generated genres; tags that did not appear anywhere in or on my fic on AO3 and were sometimes scarily accurate and sometimes way off the mark. I remember You & Me & Holiday Wine had ‘found family’ (100% correct, but not tagged by me as such) and I believe The Shape of Soup was listed as, among others, ‘enemies to friends to lovers’ and ‘love triangle’ (both wildly inaccurate). Even worse, not all the fic listed (as authors on Reddit pointed out) came with their original summaries at all. Often the entire summary was AI-generated. All of these things make it very clear that it was an all-encompassing scrape—not only were our fics stolen, they were also fed word-for-word into the AI Weitzman used and then analyzed to suit Weitzman’s needs. This means our work was literally fed to this AI to basically do with whatever its other users want, including (one assumes) text generation.
***Fan fiction appears to have been made (largely) inaccessible on word-stream at this time, but I’m hearing from several authors that their original, independently published work, which is listed at places like Kindle Unlimited, DOES still appear in word-stream’s search engine. This obviously hurts writers, especially independent ones, who depend on these works for income and, as a rule, don’t have a huge budget or a legal team with oceans of time to fight these battles for them. If you consider yourself an author in the broader sense, beyond merely existing online as a fandom author, beyond concerns that your own work is immediately at risk, DO NOT STOP MAKING NOISE ABOUT THIS.
