romantic relationships blah blah blah okay but what about risking everything for your sibling. what about the unwavering love and care that can only come from a parent to a child. what about someone who just wants their best friend back. ever thought of that.
thinking about a potential Firewoman Pearl for season 11. she mentioned it probably not being very 'useful' on the server due to fire tick being off but I absolutely think you could make a firefighter work even in minecraft without accidental fires being started.
first, of course if Gem does her dragon theme and lights fire around the server, that's one thing Pearl could have as firrefighting activity, but also. there is an entire dimension of fire in Minecraft! and it is often quite dangerous! i can imagine a minecraft firefighter being an angle for someone creating the nether hub, or doing nether safety related activities like providing fire potions, making a blaze farm, gathering unique materials from there like nether wood blocks and blackstone and providing them to people instead of other people going
also, fighting fires is not the only thing firefighters do. they're first responders! being a firefighter could mean having rescue boxes for people that lose all their things, doing checks on people if you know they've been afking for a farm to make sure they haven't died or the farm is still working/not overflowing or even mobproofing public areas
i can also imagine a firefighter on hermitcraft making minigames relating to dodging lava or fire arrows, like you're 'teaching' fire safety, or having 'fire drills' involving custom horns
anyways, there's no confirmation that that's what pearls going to do next season but ever since the idea was mentioned i kept having ideas on how that could work! whatever pearl decides to do though, im sure i'll love it :]
are you a “mark for later”, bookmarking unread fics on ao3, bookmarking unread fics on ur browser, 25 fic tabs open, or a “i’ll just find this later in my history” gay
About 50-80 tabs open that I browse often to read. Bookmarks are for my favorites. Mark for later is too hard to browse so I usually just use it for WIPs I want to read when they’re finished.
part of the reason I think it’s so sad that we collectively write so few stories about unrequited love is bc I feel like there’s very little public acknowledgment of how much it sucks to be the one somebody is in unrequited love with??? and not in a way of like, oh they’re crossing boundaries or putting expectations on me or whatever. becoming close friends with someone and then finding out they’re in love with you and you don’t love them back the same way is heartbreaking, bc a) someone you love is in pain and there is literally nothing you can do about it, and b) it usually means that whether you like it or not there’s going to be distance in your friendship that wasn’t there before as they try to get over you. idk man I just feel like we’ve all discussed the tragedy of loving someone who doesn’t love you back quite a lot and very rarely discuss the tragedy of finding out the way that you love someone just isn’t enough.
listen, sometimes it's more powerful for a fictional relationship to be a friendship precisely because friendship is devalued in comparison to romance. anyone can sacrifice themself for the love of their life. but for a friend? if anything, that kind of devotion can be even more moving than if the relationship is romantic. there's a real dramatic power to prioritising friendship in your narratives sometimes.

the infuriating thing is that there is genuinely so much good queer literature out there, contemporary and not, but there is also a sizeable chunk of readers who think that a book only "counts" as good queer literature if it's a) unproblematic, b) contains romance as its central focus, and c) has the characters state their orientation and/or gender identity directly to the audience using socially acceptable 21st-century terms (as opposed to resorting to cowardly tactics such as Subtext and Themes)
Happy Pride Month! Today i offer you: aspec knights. Choose your fighter.
“how is annabeth head of athena cabin” have you ever met an autistic 12 year old girl. she’s running that shit like the navy
has YOUR favorite fictional woman over the age of 30 experienced fandom misogyny from people who are mad at Their Mom From Real Life? call our offices, toll-free, day or night. we're the nation's #1 law firm that specializes in defending adult women who make choices and have character traits. if the prosecution has started calling her a selfish bitch, pick up the phone today!!!
Excuse me, does your firm also represent women under thirty who experience fandom misogyny from people who are mad at That Girl From College/Work/High School?
we take those cases pro fucking bono
the first law of tragedies: the end is already written and inevitable. the second law of tragedies: your actions are all your own and you can choose to get off this ride whenever you want. the third law of tragedies: we both know that you are never going to do that.
“return to old trek,” but it’s the return of 20+ episode seasons, of bringing contemporary scifi writers to write episodes, of doing social commentary so acute it blasts the “it’s just escapism” argument to bloody bits, and most important, the return of silly costumes and camp
Star Trek needs to capitalize on the fact that it has such a cool and expansive universe. They need to make more shows/movies/stories centered around the more niche corners of the galaxy. I want truckstop romance stories between a Vulcan freighter captain and a human waiter whose claustrophobia won’t let them get on a space ship. I want an epic political thriller of an orphan gorn egg raised by a ferengi family, I want to learn how a Klingon family started a barbecue joint on Kronos and became universe famous for their lava butter (there actually is something like this in the Star Trek travel guide but it’s such a short snippet and I want to know more), I want to see the drama of a Klingon opera, i want to see the stories that are always just out of focus.
There are just so many cool ideas. And not to say I don’t love the challenge of the weekly crew style but we saw how interesting the stories can get if you expand past just starfleet (especially in ds9)
we need more pathetic female characters written by authors who don't hate women
to be clear since this is making the rounds: she has to be an absolute loser in no way that can be pinned on her gender. no "i'm just a girl tee-hee" stuff. straight up just a loser (nondenominational)
if we look at the original timeline (aka annabeth and percy being born in 1993) then 2009 was a big year for annabeth bcus not only did the battle of manhattan take place and she finally started dating percy, but also minecraft came out and i think that would be a big deal to her
Let's be crystal clear. Queerbaiting is real. But it occurs when the creators intentionally hint at a queer relationship to lure in a queer audience to give them money, but never actually follow through on their heavy-handed implications of a queer relationship. Queerbaiting does not occur when the creator has been transparent from the very beginning that Malevolent is about friendship and platonic love, meant to work through the toxic masculinity they've lived throughout their entire life, and to express healthy platonic love (and sometimes unhealthy love) between two male-presenting characters. It is not queerbaiting when they emphatically tell each other that they love each other, because love isn't exclusively romantic, and while it is absolutely okay for people to ship them (and something that the creator is totally FINE with, btw), it is not okay to accuse the creator of lying about their relationship when he's been clear about it from the very beginning.
Friendship and platonic love is just as meaningful as romantic love and that's the whole point of Malevolent.
the way fandoms are desperate to make all aroace characters romance and sex favorable but then dont do anything remotely similar to any other identity is astounding. hmm i wonder why
PLEASE dont derail this about shipping characters of other identities please let this one post be about an aroace struggle
