So many ruthless/pragmatic characters get revealed as hypocrites when the sacrifice required is personal, and that's why it's really important to me that Stratt does genuinely care about Grace and also it doesn't make her hesitate for a second. That's her friend and she dragged him screaming to the sacrificial altar with clear eyes and no apology and she would do it again. What a woman.
toby is so far two for two on releasing deltarune the day before my work's summer party 🤔 can't wait to find out when chapter 6 will be released months ahead of everyone else when next year's summer party is announced!!
Ohhhhhh all the hospitals on The Pitt are getting cyberattacked bc all their IT furries are at Anthrocon, got it.

hey just so you know, op of that post you reblogged let the dogs out :/
who?
who?
You said something in “Smith” which I hope I grasped, and there was a feeling almost of recognition. An odd feeling of grief overcame me when I read it. I cannot explain my feelings any clearer. It was like hearing a piece of music from way back, except that it was nearer poetry by Graves’ definition. Thank you very much for writing it.
Terry Pratchett, in a letter to J. R. R. Tolkien, 22 November 1967
Thank you very much for your letter. The first one that I have received with regard to Smith of Wootton Major. You evidently feel about the story very much as I do myself. I can hardly say more.
J. R. R. Tolkien, in reply to Pratchett’s letter, 24 November 1967
This is the first I've ever seen this and it makes me wonder if it's why Pratchett was always so conscientious about responding to letters from kids.
If you were wondering: in November 1967, Terry Pratchett was 19 years old.
And he did in fact say on at least one occasion that it was this that pushed him to always engage with his own fans in the same kind and conscientious manner.
the simple fact of robby and dana willingly going through traumatizing things over and over again because they feel most qualified; not wanting anyone to go through it too while crumbling under it. feeling such a large responsibility for the work that they do that they both feel too proud to let anyone else do it, while calling each other out about the fact that this job is killing them.
they can't recognise it in themselves, but they will recognise it in the other. it's hypocritical, it's painful. 'you get to go the extra mile while some of us get accused of being martyrs' and they are both martyrs. they are both willing to let this job kill them so it doesn't kill anyone else, while still admitting that they can't lose each other. i will allow this job to kill me, but it can't kill you. and because neither want the other to die from this job, while allowing it to happen to them, there is such a painful anger that brews.
they don't want to leave this place without each other, but they also can't stay. if i leave dana here, she'll be alone. if i let robby stay, it will kill him. oh my robbydana. and now she is presented with the option that either road might kill him. and it breaks; that dynamic and logic flows out the window. neither option is safe for robby anymore and she finds out that it's already too late. they have been protecting each other from letting this job kill them, and she just found out that it didn't work.

i love when a character is very clearly going through their own shit badly and is able to be sympathised with yet they are also being awful to others and hurting people who don't deserve it, and the narrative is showing how they got here but not letting them off the hook for being cruel just because they are hurting.
i dont like ☝ what happens when you introduce this type of character to a large fandom
especially if she is a woman
"app" is without a doubt one of the deepest evils of the human race. "hello. would you like to be expected to have a bespoke piece of software for every single Brand you might theoretically interact with in a day" <- statement dreamed up by someone who should be drawn and quartered
"It's better in the app!"
That's embarrassing. Make your website better
not sure robby's planning on coming back after the motorcycle trip tbh 🙃
"oh yeah, what if I don't come back!?"
