I think these photos express my joy of meeting friends after a long time better than I can put into words. The extended lockdown(s) was tough but now we're fully vaccinated and out & about. We couldn't contain our smiles & laughters. Thanks to the amazing hosts @soumyadip.pal.1 and @sreesarkar17 who are going to be parents very soon. I'm glad that we were able to get together and wish them all the very best on embarking this wonderful journey of parenthood. 7 years ago I came to this city, a little nervous, a little excited, not quite sure what I'd find in this corner of the world. Leaving my friends and family behind, coming all the way down under, not really knowing anyone here, I didn't think too much about any challenges then because growing up in India really prepares you to make your way through almost any situation. Work had brought me here but that's not the only reason why I'd stay here. I was a little worried coming to the sporting capital of this sports crazy nation, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the vibrant arts and cultural hub Melbourne really is. With a little push out of my comfort zone, I started volunteering and that opened new doors for me. Well I found myself because I could pursue my interests without the fear of judgement. I made new friends, found my place in the community and fell in love with this beautiful city. It's really hard not to... I owe a lot to my family and their unwavering support to be where I am. I am forever grateful for their unconditional love and also feel very lucky to have a fantastic group of friends. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone but being the social animals we are, we will always find ways to celebrate what we hold so close to our hearts. Diwali is the biggest Indian festival and while I may have been far away from my family, I tried to recreate a little bit of the magic in my first home. Throwback to the unplanned part of our Queen's birthday long weekend trip on our way back to Melbourne from Wilson's Prom, we decided to visit Phillip Island. This was my second time visiting the island and somehow I had not known about the spectacular coastal viewing from The Nobbies. So here's another throwback to my Queen's birthday long weekend trip to Wilson's Prom which shows our final leg of the hike which tested our appetite really hard. A "not so smart" idea of not going back the same way (along the beaches) saw us walking on the thorny and bushy edges of the road. This was definitely the least enjoyable part of the trip and rather scary if I may add, all due to poor choices and lack of preparation on our part. Continuing with the throwback to my Queen's birthday long weekend trip this year to Wilson's Prom, this was our turning point in the hike - Picnic Bay, where we finally reached the tip of our hunger but sadly had nothing to munch on, forget a picnic. Most of us were too grumpy to further make our way to the Whiskey Bay but that didn't stop me and couple of others to check out some of the viewpoints and take some snaps before we started walking back. As we made our way from one end of the Picnic Bay to the other, we came across a puffer fish which was just lying in the sand on the beach but sadly there was nothing we could think of doing to help it. Another throwback to the Queen's birthday long weekend trip to Wilson's Prom. This was the first stop in our hike and where we had the most fun as the hunger had not yet set in. It's every inch as beautiful as everyone describes it to be. I've never really seen sand which is finer and it's just breathtaking. It was the National Tree Day 🌲🌳🌴 last weekend, so here's belated wishes to everyone with a throwback to the virtual celebration! 😀 We may have entered stage 4 restrictions 😷, but connecting with nature has always provided us much needed solace in these difficult uncertain times and helped us to deal with the isolation.
