Shane Hollander + His many expressions - Part 2/2 Heated Rivalry, Season 1 (Part 1)
I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?
Don't become a housewife.
And if you do become a housewife, take steps to protect yourself. Make sure you’re legally married, for starters; stay-at-home girlfriends have very little legal recourse to claim their partner’s assets in a breakup. Make sure your name is on the house deed/rental agreement, and have your car in your name, even if your spouse is paying for it. Have your spouse transfer money every month into an account solely in your name, so you can buy yourself things without needing permission, but also so you can save up to leave if needed.
If your spouse fights you on any of this, then don’t quit your job. The tradwife to poverty pipeline is real, and so is financial abuse.
also, many women/people experience controlling behaviour and domestic violence from their partner for the first time during pregnancy. don’t risk thinking “he’s just stressed, it’ll get better when the baby comes” because it won’t. neither you and your child will ever be safe with that man. get out as early and safely as you can
something I think is important to know is that (at least currently), when you are still pregnant, the father CANNOT legally force you to stay in the state you're both in. but after the child is born, they can absolutely file in court to stop you being able to move and take the child with you, even if it's a newborn. if you are trying to flee even just more than maybe 50 or 100 miles (or to another state), you will be forced to either leave the child behind when you go or stay where you are.
if you are pregnant and your support system is in another state and you are planning to leave or having doubts, move before that baby is born. the state the baby is born in has jurisdiction over the child no matter where the father lives. if you get out before the child is born then the most the father can legally do is file for paternity after the birth and then eventually apply for custody, but living states away means the most they will get is part of summers and alternating holidays (and that usually doesn't start until at least age 3, usually closer to age 5). if you're in the same state, he will get shared custody far more easily and far earlier.
if the father is abusive and you're trying to leave the best thing you can do is leave before the baby is born and go to another state. get as far away as you can and do it before you and the child are legally stuck in the state you and the father are currently in.

"My father is police. My brother is police."
"And your mother?"
And your mother? What about your mom, Ilya?
Because for Shane, his mom has had his hand in hers since the moment he was born. She signed every deal and every contract he has. He plays for her favourite hockey team. He brings her up in almost every interview. She's there for him in every step of his career. If he ever got in trouble she'd be the one to fix it. So maybe if Ilya got in trouble in Russia his mom would fix it, right? Because Yuna is ready to fist fight the government if it means keeping Shane safe. Yuna is so present in Shane's life that it's suffocating sometimes. His mom is so caring and protective that he has to hide parts of himself from her. His mom would be okay with him being gay. His mom would keep him safe. His mom would protect him. And your mother?
"Dead."
And these women, they are so sexy and fun...
i maintain this entire thing is ilya's fault not because of the showers but because he could have just let shane blow him in the entryway like a NORMAL 18 year old dl hookup and then everybody could have moved on with their lives. but nooooo instead mr pathetic stray rat dog just had to insist everybody get naked and cuddle. like u can see the exact moment it occurs to ilya "hmm he has never been with another guy before... this means i now have carte blanche to convince him any level of emotional intimacy is normal 😈 ahaha guess who is getting their skin-to-skin contact needs met TONIGHT boys 🤪"
there’s some gendery afoot… like shane has hooked up with girls before but never guys, and in my teenage attempts at fumbling through inexperienced heterosexuality there was a lot of foreplay and also the expectation that these boys were going to be so so nice to me, and if they were not the contract was being broken. it’s not a good dynamic but the young teenage straight vibe was often “i am deigning to let you fuck me and we all know you’re gonna enjoy it a lot more than me and therefore you need to be so so sweet about it.” so ilya is like hm. i now have the freedom to convince shane that the level of connection and intention usually required by young women during a heterosexual hook up is actually not gendered at all, and boys do that too :) because, clearly, being nicies is ilya’s favorite part. which then actually makes me wonder if the reason he gravitates more towards women in his #freewilly era isn't because he’s really all that more attracted to women as much as just that he isn’t socially allowed to be as nicies to guys UNLESS it’s shane who doesn’t know any damn better
