Since the trailer dropped and all the new Kingdom hearts fans are waking up let’s not forget that Riku Mickey Donald and Goofy are the main causes for Soras Hero complex/self sacrificial attitude. Something that was implied that became so clearly (and honestly a bit too much imo) proven in KH3; the constant denial that he will ever be enough and that no matter what he does he cannot be considered a master like the others are. The entire plot of KH3 is a reminder to Sora that he was not chosen. He never got an intentional inheritance and even him saving Aqua by himself was dismissed by Riku and Mickey (the two that FAILED to save aqua even teamed up). The majority of the cast has consistently forced this boy to crush his own heart time after time to save all of these other people and it’s no mystery to me why he was forced into mastering the power of waking just in time for him to use it to sacrifice himself to save the other masters.

I’ve been saying it for 20 years and I’ll keep saying it as much as I have to: Riku is Not a good friend to Sora and anyone who believes that is wrapped up in the typical fujoshi hellscape. Riku will forever stay one of my most despised fictional characters because all of this credit the fandom gives him is complete garbage. This dude had no reason to fall to darkness expect childhood jealousy. He is only a wielder because Terra picked him. The moment he came to his senses post Malificent he ignored every single person who cared about him because of his own ego. And now I’m supposed to believe he’s a guardian of light who won’t just continue to give up the first moment something goes wrong? The game continues to force it down your throat that Riku fell to darkness and that Repliku had a come to light experience but as a character he has done NOTHING to deserve the respect he has both by the characters and the fandom.

And any old/new Soriku shippers? Block me rn because I cannot stand you. You ignore every horrible thing he’s ever done to Sora because you like to sit and fetishize Sora as though he hasn’t done more in 5 minutes of gameplay than Riku will do for the rest of his life. And for the love of all that’s good Riku is NOT a little emo angst tumblr boy because if that’s really what you wanted to love you’d be hanging out with every other VALID Roxas fan
