He isn't the brightest tool in the shed (is that the saying?) but he's always willing to learn. Just not through textbooks because WHY?

" Lotta hair! Like a wild cat. Maybe we oughta shave it all off right now so that ya don't get crap stuck in it, " Enjin cracks a grin and snickers to himself.
" Sure, bald guys look aight! So long as they don't have a lumpy head, lemme check that out for ya-- "
With a firm ruffle of the kid's hair, Enjin squints. Pretending as though he is examining something closely, he gives an observant hum.
" Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I dunnnoooooooo, might be kinda hard boiled! "
"HUH!? I'LL BITE YOU IF YOU COME ANYWHERE NEAR MY HAIR."
He'd hiss if he could.
And as if his hair wasn't already naturally messy. The ruffling of his hair only makes it worse!
"I don't know what that means, but YOU'LL be hard-boiled!"
He realizes they definitely lost track of the conversation he was just having with Enjin.
"ANYWAY, Elarips! Have ya been?"

"Cool, you live over there!" Even from where they stand, they can see just a blip in the sky of where Sephiroth's home is with the angels.
"Do you think they chose someplace high like that because of them being what they are, or...?" Curious, curious.
War was quiet for a moment, keeping his arms crossed and his face as stoic and unreadable as he did so. He always appeared stern, even when soft. Of course right now though...he was being stern.
"No. You will grow at your own pace."
"Well...I don't know how long that'll be," he mumbles under his breath. What did at your own pace even mean? He wanted to be older now. Wasn't that AT HIS OWN PACE? He would think so.
"I wanna be as big as you. You're soooo coool!"

AAAAND MARK THAT DOWN AS ANOTHER WHO DIDN'T KNOW EARTH. the more he encounters people here who did or didn't know of the planet, it was difficult to gauge if he was feeling out of place or right at home. though, at the very least, that is not so much important as it was that this kid needs a little educational support from someone who was trained for the matter. ❝ I guess you could say that. ❞ he wasn't about to go and pop the proverbial bubble to a teenager about how some teachers out there really didn't use their brain properly.
❝ Looks like math's getting you down, huh, bud? ❞ not that he could blame him, especially when he recalls the amount of mathematical equations that go into science, let alone how most that were taught were the watered down versions. ❝ Okay. Let's see what we can cook up in our wrinkly brains together, ❞ he notes, plopping himself down next to oliver in doing so. ❝ Which part's got you most stumped? ❞
Oliver took note of it when the stranger approached, but he definitely picked up on it when the other took a seat next to him. He can't describe the smell he's getting, but it's nothing he's ever---actually?
"Hey, have you been to Selene Station?" He's definitely distracted now! The problem with Math is at the back of his mind, sitting on the bench! "Or like, something close to it? You got that smell. Y'know? The, uh...stars." Not exactly what he was trying to compare, but it's close enough, right?
✂ "Scent? Huh. I've been told I don't smell like much." Which was entirely intentional. Made killing easier back in the day when there was nothing to trace you after, but it was an old habit that had stuck. Riyo had... techniques. Maybe saying that made her sound even more suspicious though? Oh well. Too late.
"My world, huh?" She glanced down at the sidewalk and picked up an empty, discarded soda can before lightly tossing it at the boy. "Depends. How do you feel about garbage?"
The discarded can is easily caught. He expresses a look of puzzlement. Head tilted, eyebrow arched. "Garbage? They belong in trash, don't they?" Did she not like her world that much?
He's tossing the can in the trashcan next to him. "Is your world really so bad, it's garbage?"
❝ Then you're definitely better off than some others I've seen. ❞ especially when it came to those who thought they were all that, chests puffed and egos inflated upon walking into the big, bad prison after their certain crimes. ❝ Can't say I'm much of the teaching kind, but I could give it a go, ❞ he agrees, wiping another bead of sweat from his temple as he gives a brief exhale. ❝ What's the part that draws you in most? If you've already got the balance and basics down, we could probably skip ahead to some of the more personalized style. ❞
Oh, goodie! He's actually going to show him!? If Oliver grins any bigger, it'll surely be his permanent look! He giggles excitedly and approaches closer. "When you punch, you're using your whole body, right? Your eyes are like, locked on your opponent, too?"
"I wanna get into the whole actiony part of it all!"
"I mean, humans hunt animals all the time, right? 'Cuz they drop meat and gold coins and stuff. It's not super different from what I do when I go to the junkyard to dig around for cool garbage, so you could probably do something similar. Depends on how squeamish you are."
Drones don't do that obviously, so Uzi doesn't really know what the various creepy crawlies of Spirale might have for a brave entrepreneur who's hard up for money. But this place is probably a simulation, so it probably runs on video game rules, right?
"There's a fantasy market over in Cotes, so I bet if you bring stuff to them, they'll give you money for it. I mean, probably, right? Or you could do illegal stuff" she says, abandoning her earlier reluctance.
"You were saying places won't hire you 'cuz you're so young, right? So find some shady place that doesn't care. I dunno where you'd find something like that, but there's probably some villain characters in this city. You just gotta find 'em."
"Eh?" GOLD COINS? He didn't know about that, but it made sense! "Well, I ain't too squeamish." That's a plus, really. He couldn't really be squeamish with the kind of things he did back home, hunting monsters and all that.
"The only place that let me in is Aerith, because she runs a flower shop." So he wasn't completely helpless or jobless. He wanted to do something he was more familiar with, at the same time.
"But if I do illegal stuff and work for those shady dudes, wouldn't I be doing their evil bidding?" PICKY, Oliver.
THE FAMILY TREE
Caroline Stance (Deceased): As stated in another headcanon, Caroline was never a good person. Everything and anything she did, she did for her own agenda. While she didn't get her hands dirtied by being the one to actually kill Joshua, she still played a part in his death. She was the one who told the people at the facility that it was okay to use Oliver and his twin sister for however they pleased. It is her fault that Oliver lives the way he does back home.
Unknown (According to records, deceased): Oliver's twin sister, who was discarded like trash when she didn't make it through the experimentation. They discarded her in a heap of trash, and she hasn't been thought of since. Rumor has it, though, that she is still alive to this day. Oliver does not know anything.
Joshua Rivers (Deceased): He was head over heels for Caroline, and when he learned that he was going to be a father, he was going to turn over a new leaf. Joshua wasn't a great person, doing shady business and dealing with illegal shit, but he wanted to be better for his baby. He was fooled into volunteering to do Caroline's bidding, and it was what got him killed.
It is said that Oliver gets his teal eyes (though right and left are slightly mismatched) from his father.

Deceased shortly after birth of Oliver.
Caroline can't truly be considered a good mother, for before her passing she sold her son to be used as a weapon for a war that had broke out against monsters and people.
Oliver has no knowledge or information about this woman, but he often times believes that if he had a mother, she would have loved him.
Caroline wasn't even a good person when she was alive. She did unforgivable things and the reason why Oliver doesn't have a father is because of her. Oliver's father was deeply and madly in love with Caroline, but she got what she wanted from the man and had him killed.
“Pollen levels fluctuate every year. That means some years are worse than others. I suppose this year is just very bad.”
Chara hums, taking off their backpack before pulling out a medical mask. They tend to carry them around because of their god-awful immune system. The child offers it over.
“Here. See if this helps.”
Oliver takes the mask and looks at it curiously. "Won't I have a hard time breathing in this?" Still, he trusts Chara. He'll put it on and see if it at least helps. "...never mind! I can still smell things, but..." he does seem to feel a little bit better
"Hehe! Chara, you're like a superhero!"
A CHUCKLE ESCAPES HIM AT THE REENACTMENT. when it came to how enthusiastic some people were, it had been some time since he was able to see that form of passion, especially in one so young. ❝ Knowing how to fight with your fists is the first step, ❞ he agrees, squaring his shoulders and scooting his feet into a sturdy stance as an act of display for oliver.
❝ What you want to do next is get low. Make sure you're grounded and your footing is solid. That way, the enemy can't knock your balance off unexpectedly. ❞
"Oh, yeah! I know alllll about keeping balance!" It helped that he was pretty heavy-footed despite being fast on his feet.
Oliver follows his action.
"Will you teach me? I really like your style. It's super cool."
❝ Got a problem there, buddy? ❞ he'd noticed the boy looking over some kind of papers, the text itself illegible from where he currently stands, though enough to notice that it seems to be some kind of essence of study. whatever the case was, he felt bad leaving a kid alone when he was working, or at least trying to, on something he might be able to aid with.
❝ I'm not one on the island. But I am a teacher from Earth. ❞ should i have to disclose i'm from earth? he might not even know where that is.

Oliver liked learning new things, and school wasn't so bad, but he hated studying. Sitting still and looking through these papers and having to memorize the work is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring, and he can't seem to retain information.
"Huh?" Oliver's gaze lifts to the person. A TEACHER, he says. "Whoa. I don't know what 'Earth' is, but if you're a teacher, then that means you're like super duper smart! You can definitely help me then!"
It's math. His worst nemesis.
The stars... she knows of them, but she wishes she knew more about them. No matter what she's tried, she hasn't been able to get close enough to even see one of them. But she wouldn't be surprised if the fiendish flora was also their doing...
"Hm?" Pulled out of her thoughts by Oliver's question, her attention returns to the plants in question. "Oh, these? They're Elpis flowers... at least that's what we've been calling 'em." The petals nearest her emit a soft gray light, while some of the petals closer to Oliver have brightened to match his energy.
"Their glow is a reaction to strong emotions. The color and brightness change depending on how people are feeling." She gently plucks the flower from atop his head, twirling it between her fingers.
"What I don't entirely get is why they're here, and why they're growing like this. Are any of these flowers you recognize?"
Oliver is looking at the glowing flowers closely. They react to strong emotions? The boy kneels to pick one up from the ground. "Pretty..." They are, but he can't forget the reasoning for them being here.
The one removed from the top of his head feels like a tiny prick. Doesn't hurt, but he does look up at her curiously. "I have no idea either. I don't like it, though. People look more sad lately because of it. Like Chara..." People had reasons why they wanted to keep certain things from others, and these flowers...weren't they technically forcing people to spill the beans? He didn't like that.
"We don't really have a lot of flowers where I'm from. BUT we have one that grows even without the sun. It's just not any of these."
" Be so serious right now.
40?
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, you don't gotta do me like that. I'm gonna be 29 this summer! That's not even anywhere close. "
Enjin reaches over and flicks the cap right off of Oliver's head.
" Don't just be sayin' stuff, 'cause one day you might be 40 and
Bald. "
"I AM SERIOUS. Nothing BUT."
Yeah, he really did think Enjin was like 40 or something. "Hey--!" He's caught the cap, but now he's messing with his hair in total shock. "You're a whole lot younger than I thought.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, I know a bald guy, and he looks pretty cool! I BET I'd look pretty cool too bald! When I hit 40, and I'm bald, I'm gonna be the baddest ass ever!" Real confident, this kid.
"'Sides, I don't even think that'll be possible. Ruby said once that I have A LOOOOT of hair."
🌙 "Pupupu... I guess I'll let it slide this time, just because I'm so charitable!" Kaguya threw her hands on his hips and puffed out her chest like she had just committed some sort of noble deed. She was taken right out of it when he uttered a familiar name, though.
"H-Huh!? It must be a different Iroha, right!? The Iroha I fell in love with isn't super sociable, so she probably ran away the moment she heard your voice like a startled deer!" That clearly wasn't the case. Iroha had likely just built a tolerance through dealing with Kaguya herself!
"I thought there was only one Iroha."
Were there two? He's about to pull out his phone to look when he realizes what exactly she means. "Sheesh, is she really a super shy non-sociable person? Well, I guess she did look like she was going to cry." PROBABLY didn't, but hey! she certainly looked a little panicky.
