check this out i'm playing bad apple in your imagination

these are getting weird
actually pigs shouldn't be at pride even outside of uniform. fuck those guys
if you decide to become a police officer then that outweighs any other marginalised identity you can rustle up like. not sorry, who asked you to willingly become a pig
I have heard of black people warning their kids that the race of a police officer is cop and you should not expect solidarity from them. The same applies to other types of minorities.
The sexuality of a police officer is cop.
The gender of a police officer is cop.
When you become the enforcer and protector of capital, you are making the deal to be slightly favored by the system over others like you, in exchange for being its servant. Your solidarity is with the system that you serve, even if it hates you.
If you want solidarity with those the system hates, you cannot be the system's servant and defender.
In my city pigs have been targeting and raiding gay/kink spaces and hitting them with outrageously erroneous charges like prostitution/drugs/the like.
You don’t get to celebrate with us as you’re actively ruining our lives.
I think a lot of transmisogyny stems from this idea that people are really scared to see a dick. The reason bathrooms and locker rooms and hot springs keep being flash points is because these are all places where if a trans woman is using them, it's possible you might see her dick. A lot of transmisogynistic humor revolves around being traumatized because the subject saw a woman with a penis. And look, to a certain extent I sympathize. I'm not a fan of dick; I dont want this thing either. But if you want to be an ally to trans women, I think a big important step you can take personally is to examine your own reaction to the scenarios I described above, and recognize that a dick is just a body part a girl has sometimes. Seeing it as inherently sexual and/or traumatizing is a major wedge conservatives use to justify their rhetoric
Even more radical stance: as a society we need to normalize nonsexual nudity. Bathrooms/locker rooms are not made safer by segregation, they're made safer by privacy barriers, sturdy locking doors, etc. (segregation has never stopped malicious actors )
I was raised thinking nudity was not inherently sexual. I would see a penis sometimes at home as my dad was crossing the hallway from the bathroom to his room after a shower. It did not scar me for life or traumatise me. I didn't really think about it at all. Everyone did that at home, you just walked naked to and from the bathroom if you were showering. My dad slept naked, which was how I learned that was a thing you could do. I started doing it in my teens.
I think Americans need to see people naked more often. We need more naked art that doesn't cover up the genitals and isn't meant to be sexual. If you watch British or Australian or European stuff, there's a lot of nonsexual nudity. There's even comedic nudity, because of how non-sexual nudity can be there! Jokes can be a lot more earthy than America, which has what I like to call a 13-year-old furtiveness about it.
I've been watching documentaries about nudity in film lately actually, so here's some of the ones I've been watching:
A history of film nudity, from the silent era to now, as ratings boards, politics, and cultural norms have shaped how much celluloid skin we
This is slightly left of just nudity, but also helps understand a lot of American weirdness around it:
This deep dive into American exploitation films unearths the shameless and occasionally shocking origins of the popular entertainment genre.
And then here's one that is about Australian film and really showcases how different the attitudes about nudity are in other countries:
Discover how renegade Australian filmmakers in the '70s blindsided audiences with a raw, uncensored explosion of sex, violence, and mayhem.
The Hays Code did a lot of damage to American art and culture and even our attitudes. It still influences how people think about art today. So do obscenity laws. "this stirs prurient interests" is the worst exception to the first amendment and should be struck down.

awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
would be remiss not to mention that the rainbow notably straight up just removed the trans flag colors from it. like they’re gone. it’s the progress flag minus the trans flag colors.
that’s not the whole flag, now is it
hey staff what the fuck
hey staff don't you think you're being too on-the-nose
HEY STAFF DONT YOU THINK YOU'RE BEING TOO ON-THE-NOSE
As the impending heat death of the internet, our library of alexandria, inches ever closer, here are some resources that will teach you everything you need to know about digital archiving.
Digital preservation is the only process that can and will preserve everything you love that (currently) only exists in the digital realm. It’s not 100% guaranteed to work, but let’s be real—your own painstakingly, personally, manually cultivated digital archive is all you’ll have left of the images, blogs, recipes, videos, fics, fanzines, games, servers, forums, articles, peer-reviewed scientific studies, “illegal” musicals and even the friends you found online, when the internet is completely gone.
And yes, you can trust me on this, because I've had to help family friends create a personal digital archive of their own. She chose to pay for archiving software in the end, but that's not important.
The basics of/anticipating potential roadblocks to adequate digital preservation:
What to expect from the quality of your digital archive in the future:
Also! Fun fact: you can download the files that make up your entire tumblr blog!
Any additional resources you have or know of would be greatly appreciated, so please don't hesitate to share them.
Please spread this post so that it finds the people who need it the most right now.

I think one of my weirdest takes is I love that I can hear my upstairs neighbor snore. I love that they’re heavy footed and I can hear when they get up in the middle of the night. I have no idea who they are or what they even look like. I do know I live alone and that can sometimes be isolating. I do the normal things like work and talk to people but when I’m home, it’s really just me and the cats. In the middle of the night, when I hear them snore I think to myself “man, they’re getting good rest. Maybe I should try and get to bed” or something similar. I wish they could know their simple act of being helps me feel a little less alone in it all.
One of the contractors at work is a dude who recently moved here from the Bay Area. He is used to Northern California, which is to say that he is NOT used to the general Tornado Alley attitude towards Thor dragging his dick across the plains and causing massive destruction on a semi-regular basis.
Namely, the fact that we get them at all, and the fact that the general Midwestern response is to wander outside to see if we can see it.
We have bad weather forcasted the next few days and I had to talk him through the site tornado plan and storm shelter locations (we have six on site, my office is actually inside one) to head off the poor guy's anxiety and also I had to admit that yes, I also share the general Tornado Alley brain damage and go outside to try and see it when the sirens go off.
Poor man thinks everyone in tornado Alley is out of their minds and as one of those people I can't even deny it. 'I seek shelter if it's heading this way' did not reassure him, he's convinced we are mad.
To answer the question in the notes, @what-about-second-tmblr ; when I visited Sacramento and LA some years ago, the sensation of a minor earthquake shifting the ground around just barely enough for a human to feel it had me freaked out and basically lying flat on my back outside going AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA while the Californians looked at me like I'd lost my mind.
So yes it is reciprocal.
my most sick and twisted fantasy
hey, I was just at "things got better" island and everyone there is talking about how excited they are to meet you
Hey yeah so this post literally kept me alive for like 6 months. Thank you. And OP is so right. Everyone on this island became my best friends. And guess what? Now they can't wait to meet *you* and they talk about you every single day.
