not to be the bi vs pan guy but like the whole discussion is dumb bc (points to the part in the bi manifesto where it says well define ourselves in different ways yadda yadda) and if i remember correctly the pan label was created in response to the transphobia in the bi community at the time? like i used to id as bi and i was fine w it! like yes i had internalized biphobia at the time but that was bc i felt like iding as bi made me less queer ect ect . at some point i switched to pan (dunno why i was like . 11?) but yknow bi n pan dont rlly have set definitions it varies from person to person n the fact that were fighting over labels is dumb like so what if this label is similar to another? labels r like that just let ppl vibe. yes theres biphobic pan people but i promise thats the minority like .... chill..... touch grass .... youre terminally online...!!!!

again it's primarily like... is it a useful label? is there a distinction that doesn't redefine bisexuality? if you (general you not you dante) accept that there really kind of isn't, then we go back to the question: is the only difference in the word itself, and, if so, it raises two questions. the first, why choose pan over bi? what's different about how you view each label? and the second, if they're the same, why have two labels at all?
and re: the conception of the term... it's been a while since I read anything about it, but.... there's transphobia in the gay community as well, and if someone, rather than addressing that transphobia as something that Should Not Be Acceptable, tried to make Gay2 where you're attracted to cis and trans men, well... I think I'd start growing claws and sprouting demon wings and my eyes would turn red and my boss battle theme (my main theme but with electric guitar) would start playing.
