“It’s always a good thing to have me.” he teased her, his eyes falling on the parchment which opened by itself.  He picked it off the table and glanced through the list. Some of the ingredients coincided with the ones he brought over while some didn’t. “I say we start off with the ones which we both think will work.” he suggested taking a quill and marking those he too thought would work. “Some of mine honestly would.” he shrugged. “But not if used correctly.”

“That must be debatable,” Pandora teased right back. She used her wand to sort the ingredients on the table into three groups. The shared items were placed in front of the cauldron. His additional selections were left in front of him, and hers were placed on her side of the table. “I think that does it. Shall we start mixing now?”

“It’s POSSIBLE, but you’d have to do it in an extremely controlled environment just in case you create a monster. Are you planning on robbing Slughorn?”

“I don’t think a monster can be created this way. Do you really think it’s possible to create a potion that manifests monsters? That would be an adventure. I only wanted to breath underwater, but monsters sound more exciting.”

“Well…” He started, thinking for a moment. “We don’t have to actually test it in the lake though, right? Just some bucket of water is enough. And you’re right, I’d never let anything bad happen to you.”

Leave it to Devlin to come up with a more sensible solution. Pandora was all for just jumping in the lake. “A bucket of water,” she repeated, mulling it over, “How about the prefect bathroom? It is a little nicer.” She reached over to lightly press an index finger to the tip of his nose. “You are very cute when you’re concerned.”

Dev made a small face at her words. “Isn’t there like another way we can test this?”

“It’s a potion. How else would we test it? I’m not giving it to some poor creature, or unsuspecting first year. It’ll be perfectly safe. You’re right here. You’d never let anything bad happen to me.”

“But he was scared to try new things, that just wouldn’t do while trying experimental potions.” he insisted. “A potion for breathing underwater.” he repeated her works, his eyes glossing over as he gave it a bit of though. “I think the main ingredient should be gillyweed.” he decided as he walked towards the store cupboard, pointing at a bunch of ingredients with his wand and they all flew towards their table and hovered mid air. “And the rest, it’s trial and error, let’s get to work. Fingers crossed, we don’t blow up the room.”

“Then it’s a good thing I have you.” Pandora untied a ribbon from the strap of her bag and used it to tie up her hair. “It is the first on my list.” A tap of her wand on the folded parchment on the table opened it up and flattened it out to reveal a tentative list of ingredients. This wasn’t a spur of the moment experiment for her. She had been thinking about it for some time. “I don’t think any of the ingredients on my list will react so volatile with one another. They simply may not produce the desired effect.”

“I want to create a potion for breathing underwater. Do you want to help?”

“I was thinking more for underwater research, academic purposes, but I guess it could be used for parties as well,” Pandora laughed. “Can you imagine an underwater wedding?”

“Depends on what you’re taking a risk with. How about you stay here and I’ll go to the other side of the building before you blow it up.” 

“None of these ingredients will blow up when mixed. I’ve done my research. They may not have the intended outcome, but an explosion is highly unlikely.”
