Be-friending the Swords: Ace of Swords
[Ace of Swords above is from the Universal Tarot]
Swords are a funny thing, they are not inherently evil… they are merely a tool and the constructive, protective or destructive power it holds truly depends on how the tool is wielded. It is no wonder that swords are than associated with our mental capacity and the realm of our mind. For this week, we are back with our first card of the series – the Ace of Swords. Compared to most of the other Minors, our first Sword is on the lighter side of life. Like all Aces the Ace of Swords deals with starting something new. It could be a new idea has crossed the mind, a breakthrough, a new opportunity to focus on a goal but most often than not Ace of Swords represents some kind of mental clarity. Usually we have shifted our perspective, new information has come to light or we have discovered a new shade of truth. All beautiful, powerful and necessary things. I feel like sometimes getting the Ace of Swords, comes with a need to salvage great courage. If I know anything about truth is that it is more than capable than ripping apart everything that we think we know.
[Ace of Swords above is from the Shadowscapes Tarot]
On the negative side of being illuminated with truth, is that for the most part truth is relative. Our mind can be so convinced that we see things clearly that it is more than capable of going on a righteous rampage. Depending on the cards in spread around the Ace of Swords or whether it is reversed, this could be one of the warnings. Another meaning that comes with the Ace of Swords is a newfound search for justice and knowledge. Sometimes circumstances come about in life where we are renewed with the need to use our Sword to protect those who are not always able to protect themselves, including ourselves at times. You will have read that in my previous blog entry I wrote about how the mind can be an incredible asset to our navigation in this world, but only if it is we who are its master, rather than the mind ruling us. The Ace of Swords represents raw mental power, in its purest form and it is in turn our lesson to choose how we wield it. The same goes for circumstances that occur in our lives… by law of nature and energy, everything that happens in life just is… it is a neutral state and while the mind is more than capable of labeling anything a tragedy, it is also capable of seeing the gift. In both situations, the choice is always ours.
[Ace of Swords above is from the The Wild Unknown Tarot]
One of the biggest lessons the Ace of Swords has taught me is that nothing changes until we do. If we have a chaotic mind, our world will reflect the same… but it is when we still our brain, and re-calibrate back into peace that we watch the outside world begin to shift. Overall the Ace of Swords brings with it a hopeful message, mental peace or clarity is on its way or has already arrived, but for whatever comes next our logic, poise and mastery over our mind is needed. I’ll be back next week delving into the curious dual nature of the Two of Swords. Stay tuned! Endless love, Nina xxx
There is a new video live on my channel all about how it seems as of late aesthetic is winning in Spirituality, especially Witchcraft rather than knowledge and the essence of empowerment.
This video is inspired by a witchy friend of mine Avalon Cameron who made a video about this topic also.

Be-friending the Swords
Swords. The Minor Tarot Suit that is typically represented by Air. Air is about logic, reason, communications, well-thought-out action but it can also about mental isolation, conflict and even abusive behavior that goes on inside our heads. I'm an Air sign, an Aquarius to be specific and while my sign is known for innovation, forward-thinking and humanitarianism, we can also be known for seeming to be fleeting and cold.. which I think in my case, really comes from the fact we are constantly inside our heads. All of my life, my mind has been a source of my wit, my intellect, my curiosity and the way it can be incredibly easy to process simple information and to put into action. Though it comes with its negatives.. where I have turned to psycho-analysis as a way to escape having to fess up to the feelings of pain that comes around a situation, a mind that frequently jumps to conclusions and a mind that has been trained to shoot myself down, before I've even gotten up. Over the years, being a sign that has been associated with Air has come with some shame.. I have always known that I am someone who comes up with incredible ideas.. but it is fairly often that I don't go through with them, leaving many projects and even endeavors half complete. The same negative connotation, and even jumpy reaction occurs frequently in me and those around me when one sees Sword cards appear in their Tarot Spreads. Most often than not, the character within the Sword cards appears to be solitary and in some kind of turmoil.. it is no wonder some would have a bit of a hesitation when such a card appears in a reading, but nothing in this Universe is just one way, each positive comes with its shadows and vice versa, both extremes, most of the time existing at the same time. In the few years that I have been on my spiritual journey, it is no coincidence that all the teachers I have in countered have all said the same thing; it is the heart that must lead the way, but we sure as hell need a good mind to navigate the process. The mind can be a beautiful thing, all its tricks can be its own way of keeping us safe from what it perceives to be a danger, but in its own archaic wiring, it can hinder us.. leaving us swimming in assumption and illusion that ultimately leaves us in separation with ourselves, people and most importantly the Divine. So, for the next 14 weeks join me as I explore a Sword card a week, all the way from Ace to the mighty King as we learn to be-friend, the double edged Sword, quite literally. We will be covering the light, the dark, and every bit of gray in between. Think of the suit of the Swords, as a form of initiation we will walk together, where together, we will learn the gifts of the mind, but be reminded that we are its master and sometimes, there are things our heart sees that our rational mind cannot. With that said, I'll see you guys next week as I tell you a little bit more about my path-working and getting to the Ace of Swords! Speak soon and endless love, Nina
Reading for the Full Moon today live on my YT channel ⬇️👾🌕💜🔥
Fun fact, I was supposed to study Creative Writing with a large focus on poetry at Goldsmiths university in London.
Words have been a thing of me since I was tiny. Whether it was songs I was writing, poetry or short stories.
I'm letting myself experience words like I once used too.. as a therapy and as a way of making sense of my world.
Here's the latest thing I want to share with you guys. Hopefully it's pretty self explanatory.
Endless love 💖
We have a New Moon in Cancer with a Solar Eclipse mixed in THIS FRIDAY the 13th. Here are what the guides and the cards have to say.

Hey hi! There's a new video on my channel all about my connection to my Matron Goddess, Diana ❤❤
ON THE TOPIC OF GETTING TRIGGERED: 🦋 Why your Heart needs your LOVING ATTENTION, not your logical bullshit 🦋 Understanding your triggers are your GOLD 🦋 Earth is about the somatic knowing, not the mental reasoning
Moments before I walk into a morning session, "if only you believed this much in God?" gets muttered, which I calmly replied with "I do." After two hours of hard truths, tears and integration that the mind could not quite understand but the body knew.. nothing can convince me more that my God led me here. To watch people transform before me, to watch them invite in their own healing, to watch them be willing to remember the endless glory they come from, is exactly where I'm meant to be. It's the work I'm constantly being molded for. Every hardship, every tear, every hurt it all comes to something in the end... It is the very thing that has broken my heart wide enough, that I am able to hold sacred, loving space for every person on their own journey back to Love that walks through my doors. People ready to walk as their own expression of Love. There is nothing more Divine than that. This morning, the Universe said "are you really sure this what you want?" Damn frikken right it is. I will be graced by Love. I will learn from Love and in the end I will walk as Love. My creator couldn't have willed anything more perfect. Anything more sacred. Today, my heart is full. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. Aho! 🌕🦋🔮💖🙏

Back to Basics: Why Meditation Changes Lives
The easiest way to explain why I started meditating when I was 15 years old was explained by a modern day monk, “imagine you are trying to take a picture of somebody but your hand is shaking, so the image comes out blurry… this is what happens when we don’t meditate, but when we make the time to do so, our hand becomes steady, thus our image turns out clear and focused.”
In my own personal experience, if I don’t take the time to make room once a day for some meditation my vision becomes blurry and my hands become shaky. I live in a world, where I react to my environment instead of respond to it.
So what is meditation?
Meditation has two aspects really; the first is slowing down the mind. Notice how I said slowing the mind, and not silencing the mind? A big misconception that I am frequently acquainted with is meditation has something to do with having “no thoughts.” Well, if you are a human being with a brain, let me just say that this is close to impossible, but we do have the possibility to slow down enough that we can begin to find the space between the one who thinks the thoughts, and the thoughts themselves.
This begins by breathing. Deep, conscious and full breathes.
Think of a time in your life you were super stressed or when you had a big scare.. something as simple as one of your siblings jumping out at you unexpectedly. Can you remember what your breath was like? Most likely short and shallow.
These moments are perfectly okay when we need to get out a stressful situation such as if we were experiencing an encounter with a wild animal, but it doesn’t do much for us in our day to day lives but allow our body to go into a state of shock and most importantly set our minds on a race. When our mind is racing, most likely we are not deep breathing.
Deep breathes allow us to calm our mind, which calms our body and brings us to the second part, being present.
There is a saying that if you can be completely present with the task you are in; meaning if you are washing the dishes, you are 100% washing the dishes, if you are listening to your friend, you are 100% listening to your friend or if you are walking, you are 100% focused on the steps you are taking, well guess what? You are meditating.
Meditation is about being 100% present with the moment you are in. No thoughts of past or present, just participating in the Now. Far harder than humans can imagine. Trust me.
When I was 15 years old I started meditating because my mind would never switch off, but over the years meditation has done different things for me. It has narrowed my focused, given me space to figure out why I even think the thoughts that I do and it has always brought me back to the void when I close my eyes.. the place where I came from, and the place where everything is possible but nothing can hurt me. Why you will meditate, will be for different reasons, but for most of us, it starts with the search for some peace.
Ready to begin?
Let me tell you. there are about as many forms of meditation in this world as there are people but I will share some of the things that helped and continue to help me.
Some simple methods are simple as sitting down in a comfortable spot, whether that be in your room or outside in a nature spot and closing your eyes. (Not everyone is comfortable sitting, so if you want to lie down, you can do that too.. just make sure you aren’t too tired or you might fall asleep.) Start breathing. Make sure your breaths reach all the way to the bottom of your spine and fill up all of your belly, hold the breath for a couple of seconds, and release. How long you do these breaths doesn’t particularly matter, but do remember it will be easier for you if you count equal breaths. Start to pay attention to what you hear around you. Is it the birds chirping? Maybe some faint TV on in the background? Focus on all of it, one at a time. You may have thoughts begin to come up trying to make stories out of what it is you hear, just let them go. You can tell them to leave inside your head, or breathe and imagine them like clouds swishing away. When you are ready, begin to focus inside, do you feel any tension in your body? Alright good, breathe into here. Allow your breathe to release anything there that no longer serves you. Just keep breathing, and observing what happens in your body and around you, any time a thought comes up, greet it, but let it pass. If at any moment you engage with it, do not worry, either allow it to pass by coming back to the moment you are in by refocusing onto something in your surroundings, but sometimes do not underestimate the fact we need to follow the journey, because the thought could want tell you something.
Another way to meditate in a way that allows your mind to clear is by counting from 1 to 10. Keep breathing, count as slowly or as fast as you want, when you reach 10, start the count again. Do that as long as you need.
You might also like to meditate by starting a visualization in your heart. Find a small spark, a little light, as you breathe, watch it get bigger. Let it cover your body, then your surroundings, extending to your neighborhood and even the whole planet if you want. When you are ready, allow the light to grow smaller, and you are ready to go.
One of my favorite ways that I’ve recently found that can be done anywhere and has a physical touch point is by a spiritual teacher named, Gabrielle Bernstien. It starts with the 4 simple words, Peace. Begins. With. Me. On the word Peace, touch your index finger with your thumb, next comes Begins, where you touch your middle finger with your thumb, then With corresponding to your ring finger with your thumb and finally touch your thumb to your little finger on the word Me. Keep doing that as slow or as quickly as you want, inside your head or aloud. The great thing about this method is that it can be done in your school classes, in line in a shop or even in the middle of an argument.
Still having a hard time?
Remember meditation music can be a kickass way to focus our energy.
Some of my favorites:
Celtic Meditation music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiqlZZddZEo&t=1s

Heart of Angelic Reiki - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmZhmIt_pYo&t=2353s
Meditation music and meditation on your own can be easy for some, especially when you have been meditating for a long time, but don’t worry if it still is not working for you, there is a plethora of Guided Meditations on the interwebs with lovely people to guide you through a meditation journey (remember, YouTube is your friend!):
Gratitude visualization meditation (this is one of my favorites, I do it every morning to envision my day) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBa3QQpQbbA
Guided Meditation for Healing, Heath & Enlightenment by The Honest Guys - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOVGPID8F7M
Flower of Life Meditation by AskAngels - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZdCzvs16Hk
There are millions of meditation creators online that bring all kinds of flavors to the spiritual community so don’t be afraid to search around if none of what I have shared is to your taste.
Last, but not least, while most us do our meditations in stillness, this is not the only way. There are walking meditations for example, or if you find your stillness in Tai Chi or Yoga, this is amazing as well. Remember the point of meditation is slowing down our mind, so that we can find the space between the eternalness of who we truly are and the thoughts our mind generates. They are not one and the same. Then, presence. Aligning to our present day to day moments, may be the biggest part of taking up the meditation journey, because it is in this very present moment that life has given us a platform to make our choices. Not in the past, not in the future, but right here and right now.
Your meditation journey awaits you. Go explore, get still and most importantly, have fun!
Endless love,
Nina x
P.S Please note I am aware not everyone interprets meditation in the same way, this is just from my own experience and the tips I have to share.
We are born into this funny world, of good and bad, black and white, pure and evil.. two sides of everything.. You come here, with a heart full of love. Completely innocent, completely pure. Straight from Source. You'll come to learn, some people are a little afraid. Or a lot afraid. You are wild. Free. Untamable. For now. They'll try to place you in their boxes. You'll spend most of your life being scolded, because you are uncontrollable. You are not obedient. You don't want to sit still. You may change. You might also become afraid. You might zip your mouth shut, stand straight, but dim. You'll find at a time.. you might not like yourself very much. You are afraid to exist in this world. People are mean. They are not to be trusted. You are not to be trusted. Your existence is wrong. You've felt that long enough that some day, you'll get tired. You just want to be happy, to do what you love and be free. It will take you on a journey. You'll ask why are you this way? You'll see the puzzle pieces. Puzzle people come together. Your parents, that mean aunt, that school teacher, those classmates, those infomercials. You'll begin to point fingers. You know where it all came from. Then, you have a choice. To ask questions? Why were those people that way? When they were just like you, finding themselves in this world.. what did they live? Who made their world? Their story probably very similar to yours. You'll laugh. How can someone give you something that they do not have? How could the adults and society in your world have taught you to love yourself, that you were perfect just the way you were, that your wildnerness was your gift.. when they were surrounded by hate, shame, that same belitting? How can someone give you something they do not have? Now, the real mission, and the real responsibility. Your life was molded by others, but it was always yours. You choose. You choose to be the Love in the world, that was missing. You teach yourself what others could not, and in your learning, you teach others it is safe. You make the mold. For what it is to be joyful, successful, free, pure Love. Someone wrote your past, but now you get to choose to craft your future.
My next video for the YouTube Pagan Challenge is live!
We tackle the letter B, and B stands for BEing you! The most important part of the spiritual journey.
Enjoy and endless love xx
