Adobe is going to spy on your projects. This is insane.
For general graphics: use GIMP For vector graphics: use Inkscape For drawing and illustration: use Krita For print and web publishing and design: use Penpot For PDF authoring: use LibreOffice For PDF reading and form filling: use Okular
All are free, open source and cross-platform. None use AI.
Reblog for everyone
friends don't let friends use GIMP. use photopea
Gonna pop my favorite reference for Adobe alternatives here, lovingly compiled and updated by xDanielArt since at least 2020:

I SWITCHED TO LINUX A WHILE BACK
ITS WORTH THE LEARNING CURVE
when the āright in front of my saladā meme was big people were just posting the full 15 minute porn clip where it happened on here. like it was just 14 and a half minutes of dudes fucking in a kitchen with the funny haha meme in the middle and it would just be reblogged for the joke and no one had an issue with it. I remember seeing it on big blogs and stuff and it was just circulated like any other joke but with gay porn padding. and thinking about that makes me so fucking sad. we used to have fun on this website
I really think we should stop saying "kid-friendly" and start saying "ad-friendly". We shouldn't indulge these companies and their excuses anymore. I also think that continuing to pretend that this is about "protecting the children" pushes a lot of the blame onto kids and teens, who don't have the political power to push through any of this censorship legislature. Corporations and governments are to blame.
The fact that people are treating the idea that men have privilege over women as like. An example of "radfem" thought and a dangerous indication of trans women falling for "TERF" thought is actually quite scary. This is like basic feminism. No, this idea isn't contradicted by intersectionality. What are we doing here.
The fact that individual men may be in less privileged positions than individual women due to multiple intersecting axes of oppression doesn't change the fact that all other things being equal a white man holds more privilege than a white woman. This is the revolutionary idea that some bloggers would have you believe is the pipeline to bioessentialism.
We have this interesting situation where we basically no longer have privacy nor the expectation of privacy, but we also don't have community or meaningful connection with others, so we're all simultaneously both completely exposed and absolutely alone, and please understand that when I say this situation is "interesting", what I in fact mean is that it's "nightmarish and I wish I could wake up"
In the year 1789, Robespierre wrote:
Do you know why there are so many indigents? It's because you hold all the wealth in your greedy hands. Why are this father, this mother, these children exposed to all the rigours of the weather, without a roof over their heads, suffering all the horrors of hunger? It's because you inhabit sumptuous houses to which your gold attracts everything which can serve your flabbiness and occupy your idleness. It's because your luxury devours the sustenance of a thousand men in a single day.
But, over two century later, this relates and resonates with us completely. We study history in order to recognize injustice and fight it. This was written in the eve of a revolution that would've changed the world. Revolutions are bound to happen, we just have to be ready, and to do so we have to be educated.
i completely understand & agree with the backlash against students using chatgpt to get degrees but some of you are out here saying "getting a degree in xyz means pulling multiple consecutive all-nighters and writing essays through debilitating migraines and having severe back pain from constantly studying at your desk and chugging energy drinks until you get a kidney stone and waking up wishing you were dead every day, and that's just part of the natural process of learning!!!" and like. umm. i don't think that any of us should have had to endure that either. like maybe the solution for stopping students from using anti-learning software depends on college institutions making the process of learning actually sustainable on the human body & mind rather than a grueling health-destroying soul-crushing endeavor
The grueling health-destroying soul-crushing endeavor is a selection mechanism to root out the ones that are disabled and the ones that have to work to afford their degree and the ones that have mental health stuff going on and the ones that don't have a support network and the ones that have to care for kids etc etc, so as many marginalized people as possible don't make it while the system can continue to pretend not to be openly discriminatory.
Remember "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" ? I feel like there's been a distancing from the "reduce" and "reuse" part and a favoritism towards "recycle" by corporate American.
Capitalism can still thrive with recycling in the mix. You buy Plastic Thing 1, throw it away after one use, and they take that and recycle it into Plastic Thing 2 and sell it back to you. All while continuing to harm the environment.
Reusing puts a damper on things. They can't sell you Plastic Thing 2 when you're still using Plastic Thing 1. Plastic forks, for example- there is literally no reason why you can't reuse plastic forks more than once (aside from maybe microplastics, but it's too late for that)
Reducing is the one everyone wants to ignore. Just don't buy Plastic Thing 1. You don't need Plastic Thing 1. Pick up a set of metal forks and use those for years. Convenience is killing the planet
the slogan is in that order for a reason! It is listed in order of effectiveness and impact; if you can't reduce, reuse. If you can't reuse, recycle.
Refuse what you donāt need
Reduce what you can
Reuse everything still in working order
Recirculate what you donāt need by sharing or selling onward
Refurbish whatās fallen out of good condition so it lasts longer
Repair whatās broken altogether
Repurpose what canāt serve its original function
Recycle what is unsuitable for repurposing
What goes unsaid here is why theyāre all āre-ā prefixed: itās about circularity. Keeping the resources in use means that we donāt have to keep incurring the environmental costs of production over and over on infinite one-way trips of new stuff starting in the earth, through human society, and right back into the earth in landfill.
every time someone is asked to describe what they consider to be positive masculinity (hardworking, protective, whatever) they are at a loss when the follow up question is "okay but what makes these positive characteristic masculine? women have them too"... it's almost as if it's all patriarchal bullshit lol
it's even more cringe when they come up with this pseudo chivalry (lol) revival like DEFEND those who cannot defend themselves SWEAR by your honor... you are not lohengrin you are 27 and on reddit
what are masculine values?
- good behaviors and values an adult man should emulate
but what good behaviors or values should an adult man emulate that an adult woman should not?
- i never said these were EXCLUSIVE to men
then why do you call them masculine values if they are not gendered
- because they are associated with men
and why is that
- testosterone
i have noticed that the qualities you call masculine are high prestige and associated with authority while the qualities you call feminine are low prestige and associated with submission and caretaking. are you sure there are no social and cultural forces at play here?
- i don't know man that's just how it is
-> etc etc again and again and again lol
fatphobia and ableism is so insidious. You can look up like, food, and it'll say "eating a lot of food causes diabetes" and you're like oh dang what? I thought we didn't know the cause of diabetes. So you look up what causes diabetes and it says "we still don't know what causes diabetes" bruh they're just making shit up to give people eating disorders
itās becoming clearer that ābeing fat makes you diabeticā is actually misapplied observation and like, backwards cause and effect. insulin resistance is the main factor in type 2 diabetes. it was thought being fat made you insulin resistant. turns out itās the other way round; insulin resistance causes the body to store fat at a greater rate. like yes, once the weight is gained it can then contribute more to resistance and things can snowball, but the initiating factor is not being fat.
#type 1 is caused by no insulin production type 2 is caused by insulin resistance #and what causes the resistance or pancreatic damage is often uncertain #absolutely poor diet and lack of exercise can EXACERBATE EXISTING TYPE 2 DIABETES #but eating carbs and eating sugar will not give you diabetes; neither t1 or t2 #also keto is a fucking scam and a lie and puts people in the hospital on a regular basis
Also worth mentioning how hard it is to find good advice around healthy eating or exercise because almost all of the information available assumes your goal is to lose weight. So you'll find a hundred articles for how you can reduce calories, but nothing about how you can eat more vegetables while managing a budget and still feeling satiated. Because professionals assume your goal is to lose weight, not to feel better in your body. It's so incredibly frustrating.
repeating just because people need to hear this:
You don't GET Type 2 diabetes from being fat. Type 2 diabetes MAKES YOU put on fat. We had the causality backward
Also the lack of exercise equipment rated for larger people to use it safely, as well as how much harder it is to find adaptive information on how to do some exercises as a larger person.
If you ever feel like a loser just remember there are people who are genuinely emotionally invested in the lives of the british royal family
being told i'm an anti-intellectual with internalized misogyny because i said horoscopes are fake and i prefer evidence based decision making is a new one, i must admit.
me: horoscopes should not influence how you perceive yourself or others, and they should not guide your life choices. confirmation bias can be a dangerous thing.
a totally normal individual: you oppose learning and hate women and being a woman.
it's literally also not just a quirky little thing either. here in india where hinduism is the majority, people actually use all this to justify heinous things. and the whole social media normalisation of it has led us backwards significantly. it's like and works along with the whole I'm just a girl and girl math crap that brought back gender roles as a funny thing.
So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said ādonāt follow me if we never even had a conversation beforeā and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
Iāve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now Iām wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that itās totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if weāve never talked before.
Also, Iām legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like itās common sense but is that really a thing?
Saw a sharp increase in my follower count after posting this. The legitimacy of it is driving me nuts so I also feel the need to say that you can follow anyone on here regardless of whether youāve interacted with them or not. People like the above mentioned blog are exceptions. Perhaps they themselves think they arenāt and therefore will act like they arenāt, but they are, trust me.
Just follow anyone you wanna follow. The worst thing that can happen is maybe getting soft-blocked by the other person, but if they do soft-block you, then they were never that worth following in the first place.
wow. really hope this isn't actually a norm taking hold with new users! this isn't facebook, you don't need to know people before following them
this is the '10 year mutuals you've never spoken to once' site
Follow! REBLOG! It's how the site works!!
Whenever I post about how gluten sticks to certain types of material my notes/inbox either fills up with a bunch of people with celiac going "motherFUCKER" or a lot of non-gluten-intolerant people realizing they've been unknowingly poisioning heir friends and family members.
So, yeah, certain types of materials can harbor "hidden" gluten, especially if they are older or have scratches.
It might not be an issue for the person in your life, depending on their sensitivity, but if you want to cook or bake for someone who is gluten-free for medical reasons, it's advisable to have dedicated cookware for them that doesn't get used for anything else.
I don't have celiac, but my husband and I have our own pots and pans and utensils that live on opposite sides of the kitchen because my reaction is mast cell-based and gives me anaphylaxis with enough exposure. Which is another reason to take people seriously when they say they're gluten-free.
And just to be clear, you should always take gluten-free diets seriously. I don't care if you knew someone who did it for a fad or to lose weight. People's preferences should demand respect in of themselves, but there are those of us out here for whom exposure can be lethal, either in the long term or the short term.
So, yeah. Be kind. And always ask before you touch anything in our kitchen, please. I've had expensive pans ruined for me because someone thought they were doing me a kindness by doing my dishes with a sponge they'd just used to clean a bread pan with š«
adding to this with things I don't see mentioned a lot-
when you eat outside or are getting food from any restaurant for someone, foods that seem innocuous or even specifically labled gluten free might contain gluten accidentally. and it's often fried foods in commercial kitchens or any food containing oil. for example even if fries are gluten free, if they've been fried in oil that fried anything battered then that oil is contaminated. some places keep reusing oil so you have to ask specifically what oil they use. oil and butter are tricky cause they leech on pretty easily, this goes more so at home where we might not realise what we've done.
paper straws and such 'eco' utensils might use wheat paste. these are also often unabled. and since they are meant to degrade easily, sharing food with them or letting it sit will break it down and contaminate the food.
reading the labels on condiments is a must! things change from brand to brand and the same brand can even change their recipe without a warning. the most surprising for me was most soy sause having wheat.
I have an allergy so it's not just food I have to be careful with. and this I really don't see brought up a lot, it's that lot of cosmetic products use wheatgerm oil or wheat protein. wheatgerm oil is often for vitamin e, so it's in anything nourishing like creams and lotions. wheat protein is in any repairing hair products. now this won't cause problems to a lot of people(cause celiac disease doesn't react to touch, if you do then you probably want to get tested for allergies) but where you do need to be careful is that wheat germ oil is used in a fair few lip balms, so yea be aware of who you are kissing cause you could accidentally ingest it through that
anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.
hey man everyone loved how convenient and easily forgettable you were on earth. u were the least inconvenient person out there. my buddy told me you were super helpful and nice and didn't take up any space and just slid away from their mind as soon as they stopped looking at you. it was really impressive how little of an impression you made on anyone. sucks that it didn't save you man.
