I love the very idea of the paris catacombs like. yeah sure the real-life city of paris has a straight-up megadungeon sprawling under it. Why not.
There’s also bones.
“Well how much bones.” I can assure you a comical amount. You’d think I was joking amount. Dark Souls ass decoration amount
This is just like. A couple of pictures off google. i’ve been there. There’s piles of bones they haven’t been through.
Nobody in the notes mentioned this fact but i need to emphasize there is absolutely so much bones. There is a dungeon and it’s decorated like this. There’s bone piles and shit that hasn’t even been discovered. The mega dungeon is not only big it looks like that. They literally need to sort it out from the amount of bones. There are so many dead people beneath paris in a dark souls crypt.
Lotsa people in the notes of this post pointing out that Paris isn't unique in this regard and actually most cities have sprawling underground complexes under them (sewers, cisterns, railway systems, etc)
And like yeah but like. None of them look like a stereotypical evil dungeon in an RPG as the Paris catacombs. It's not just that it has a lot of tunnels under it it's that it has a lot of Dark Souls looking ass tunnels under it.
No but you don't understand, it's a Dark Soul looking ass tunnel that is a also a major tourist attraction. It looks empty on the pictures here but when you go the queue goes all the way around the block and it's like Disneyland packed inside. They also have a gift shop.

on the 8th of may 1945 nazi germany capitulated and metropolitan france celebrated the end of fascism, the french settler-colonial authorities started a two month long period of massacres against indigenous algerians for daring to protest the colonial regime in favour of independence. known as the sétif, guelma, kherrata massacres, during that time french colonial forces and police, as well as white french settlers, bombed, shot and lynched thousands of algerian muslims and buried them in mass graves. many of them were then dug up and burned. today france claims up to 1000 algerian victims and 200 french ones in "retaliation". it's far more likely to be thousands more victims, some of whom were anticolonial activists but many more were uninvolved civilians who were massacred by settlers with the encouragement and involvement of french military and police. after this, near all algerian nationalist and anticolonial organizations were disbanded and their leaders imprisoned. the army also forced many muslim algerians to kneel in front of the french flag and repeat "we are dogs and ferhat abbas (a proeminent algerian independence activist) is a dog". very few french socialists and communists, some of whom were actively in a coalition with de gaulle in the new government, expressed solidarity with the algerian people or condemned the massacres.
this was eighty years ago today.
i saw a post today that said that everything from gaza to the current indian anti-muslim violence could be blamed on the war on terror and the usa and while the usa is certainly a crucial part of the spread and acceleration of that violence for the last thirty years, i really urge more communists and anarchists to learn about french colonialism and racial discourses and their influence; similarly about french anti-algerian and anti-muslim violence all the way to today. maybe it's because of the language barrier, but you'd be shocked to find how so many current white supremacist and islamophobic policies and rhetoric are directly derived both from french fascists who are bitter about algeria (and further back, 19th/20th century french eugenicists and antisemitic theorizers) and from the french state's own actions in algeria and against muslims in all of its colonies and "protectorates"
elphaba and glinda keep hooking up between acts i and ii and elphaba is constantly leaving visible marks on glinda's neck. and fiyero (as glinda's publicity boyfriend) keeps having to cover for them and suffer through morrible's lectures about modesty and propriety while fully knowing his supposed girlfriend is getting her world rocked by the love of his life on a regular basis, who is secretly taunting the entire government via hickey
half paying attention and the 7-11 cashier was pronouncing 12 dollars as "two elf dollars" and I kept saying "what?"
6 us dollars = 1 elf dollar
and keep the changeling
"why are you so emotional it's just autocorrect?"
i want to see fiyero ride up to the train platform to see for himself that elphaba didn't return with glinda i want to see glinda go back to her and elphaba's room and just stare at elphaba's empty bed i want to see them struggle to go back to day-to-day life at shiz now that elphaba isn't there i want to see morrible reluctantly teaching glinda sorcery i want to see nessa struggle to establish herself as govenor i want to see how nessa is treating boq and the other munkins i want to see glinda struggle with her decision to stay behind i want to see fiyero struggle to maintain his 'dancing through life' attitude i want to see fiyero out searching on his own for elphaba i want to see morrible and the wizard planning and sending out search parties for elphaba i want to see them spread lies and propaganda i want to see elphaba helping Animals and planning the wizard's downfall
i want to see what happens in between act one and two of the show
Glinda tries to take care of Nessa, like in the book. Eventually, Nessa pushes her away, taking her friendship for patronizing and enraged at Elphie being the center of it all, as always.
Boq longs for Glinda. Nessa tries to appease him at first, and be good enough for Munchkinland, but without anyone’s support—Elphie’s or her father’s or Glinda’s or Fiyero’s or even truly Boq’s—bitterness engulfs her.
I want to see Fiyero meet Glinda at the train station. She’s clearly not okay, on the verge of a rare (genuine) public breakdown, but he too is savvy enough to hide it. He leads her away. “She tried to save the animals.” His heart breaks. “They chased us. Tried to kill her. She…” Her voice cracks. “She asked me to go with her.” She collapses in his arms.
Morrible preys on them both. They grow to resent each other a little. But only because they both love her so, and wish they could fix it—any of it.

leather jacket*
denim jacket
*faux leather no animals were harmed! :)
faux leather is pleather, which is plastic. the process of mining, refining, and fabricating plastic causes enormous environmental damage at every step of the way. oil refineries regularly cause massive die offs of birds, small mammals, and EVERY local invertebrate. the degrading plastic from pleather garments (which break down after only a few years) produces microplastics and leads to groundwater contamination, killing off amphibians and, later, sea life. faux leather can't be repaired or recycled, only replaced by a new, equally toxic product.
tanneries are not exactly fountains of health, but a leather jacket uses the skin of a domestic cow that was already killed for meat. leather jackets can also be refurbished or recycled. once entirely discarded, leather will rot in place, rather than fragment into toxic forever particles.
leather is the product of an animal's death in a tangible, recognizable form that you can immediately assess. one jacket, one cow. you touch the skin of that dead animal and you flinch from it.
pleather can tell you that no animals were harmed, because it harms animals that you will never see. it outsources responsibility. you're not touching the skin of the birds that drowned in oil spills and the tadpoles that hatched into toxic rivers. the fish that will choke on the microplastics of your new jacket aren't born yet when you walk out of the shop. the material of the jacket is so abstract and your culpability is so obscure that you can believe what you are told: it is clean. you are clean. no harm, no foul.
but that's still not true.
look if the fucking mouse can change the ending of the little mermaid to have the mermaid marry the prince then universal can change wicked for good to have Elphaba kiss Glinda on the mouth and run away with her and Fiyero it’s 2025 let the witch have her single-braincell-sharing wife and husband
