it’s been farrrrr too long since i’ve done a random soc headcanons post so here’s a lot of them:

matthias is actually more of a cat person but just never knew because of the fjerda wolf obsession, and then when he got to ketterdam and saw all the stray cats he just kind of fell in love

jesper makes his barrel flash even flashier by diy sewing funky patterns onto his clothing

whenever the crows group hug they leave a big hole for kaz to just stand in between

while having to wait in the bunker kuwei wrote smut about him and jesper and burned it after

inej pretty much never talks about her period but nina will not stop complaining about hers and whenever she does inej does nod along vigorously, reminding the other crows that she, too, gets periods

wylan is very easily calmed by watching fish swim around

matthias loves winter but dislikes summer, nina loves summer but dislikes winter. they help each other romanticise all the seasons.

wylan thinks kaz stealing his fathers dekappel is the funniest thing ever and comments on it every single time he sees it, like “wow what a nice painting, where’d you get that?” etc

you’re telling me NOTHING significant enough to show in-scene happened there + they didn’t gain a new understanding of each other’s povs even though working together with dangerous chemicals basically demands workable communication + cooperation?

we need to talk about the workers in epic III

you know what I feel like we don’t talk about nearly enough? the workers taking off their caps in in epic III

if you’ve never seen the full show/don’t know what I’m talking about, basically at the big climax of epic III, when the music is silent but everyone’s still singing lalalala, the workers each walk to the front of the stage, take off their worker’s cap, and take a moment with the lights/audience, then let the next person in line do the same.

this bit is, in my opinion, one of the most raw, emotional moments in the ENTIRE show.

see cause epic III already tears my heart out of my chest and stomps on it and then puts it back in my body with a pretty little bow, but the fact that this song, this glimpse into the way the world COULD be is enough for the workers to WANT to live again, to want to reclaim their identity for themself, to actually take the cap off and do it and inspire everyone else around them to do the same? I genuinely cannot handle it.

it makes me think of a playbill interview (which tumblr won't let me link but is definitely worth the read!!!) with the costumer, Michael Krass, specifically the part about the workers' outfits when he says the caps are there to "deny the workers that freedom and individuality, push them toward imposed anonymity," which i think is conveyed SO well throughout the show, and is so important in making this moment all the more impactful

not to mention, when the workers are done with their individual time in the spotlight, they run to each other with tears running down their faces as they sing and finally look one another in the eye. some of them hug. some of them just keep on looking off into the light with a smile like they're remembering who they were and (i know i sound crazy) but it genuinely feels like I’m finding out and learning to love who they really are with them. I’ve seen the show a number of times, and not once has a single chorus member taken this moment and NOT given it 1000% it genuinely destroys me and leaves me in shambles no matter what. it makes me want to live and die and love and scream and sob and go crazy i CANNOT handle it

was thinking about eurydice today (shocker) and those lower notes she sings in hey little songbird, gone i'm gone, and flowers and i realised they fit into the voice like almost like a yawn

i just loove this idea because she talks about "falling asleep" multiple times throughout the musical and those lower notes come in songs where she is being lulled into "sleep" (i.e. death/hadestown compliance), so i feel like the yawn-ish sounding lower notes are a great vocal manifestation of that
