Ok had to literally set aside time to spend on desktop to deal with this level avoidance.
Firstly, have we clearly re-established that the responses in the initial post, ie, "full of themselves, one swore at me once, my gosh listen to yourselves," and "one of these fellas took up an attitude with me once two years ago" had absolutely NOTHING to do with classism, racism, or ableism. Real life (and in spaces outside of Tumblr) people aren't actually on the SJW vibe much. We agree on this, yes?
Much like OP was probably referring to IRL people and not those who participate in discourse online.
So, already you introduced dimensions that have NOTHING TO DO WITH MY POST. Let's go ahead anyway.
"Also “flipping out” when the person in question is not a racial minority and not disabled in a way that would make veganism challenging, which is way more common, especially IRL, is STILL ultimately a deflection from their own unimpeded ability to withdraw from complicity in violence.
Derailment, a form of Whataboutism"
Who wants to take bets that this user is exactly this, does not hunt, is merely yapping about situations that don't apply to them, with their point (1), in order to escape personal accountability?
(something they have mentioned nowhere in the post. Hm)
But, I will be magnanimous here and address your concerns, despite probably playing into exactly what was predicted.
1. Not everyone lives where it's cheap to get those foods. A seal, whale, or caribou comes to you for just about no cost and feeds you for quite a while.
Ok cool. As I understand it, vegans would be OVERJOYED if this were the only type of animal violence happening in the world. Would you?
Their primary concern is people who could easily avoid it. I could fetch memes about this, even. And actually, I'm very sure most vegans, being made up of largely leftists and liberals, would be the first to want to solve global wealth and resource distribution issues that make this a problem in the first place.
Next non-issue:
2. Encouraging and taking part in the abolition of culturally significant meals, rituals, and interactions with the environment"
Somebody didn't read the post.
"How is wanting to abolish the violence against innocents inherent in child brides not racism? I mean, this is a cultural thing. How are you not being racist?"
*facepalm
analogy analysis status: Failed.
3. So a person with severe allergies, sensitivities, or inability to digest vegan-friendly foods does not have to eat them. However, as payment for their transgressions, the goal is to decrease demand for options that they CAN consume so that the cost of those foods rises and the accessibility falls?
This is nonsensical. As if non-animal foods that are tailored to allergies, sensitivities, and digestion problems don't exist. I have met online users with legume allergies that are vegan. Wheat allergies. I know an IRL person with nut allergies, which nixes a lot of vegan alts. There's a company that specializes in avoiding like the top dozen allergies.
I thought this was about disability, not allergies. But, I will indulge your entire swap in topic.
(despite the fact that veganism makes such slow going, in a societal sense, that your scenario projection of demand being altered so quickly and dramatically, while vegan options don't catch up, is fantastical levels of suspect)
What digestion problems specifically? There are an absurd variety of plant foods: nuts, seeds, legumes, greens, carby roots, grains. Name a problem that you personally believe cannot be addressed, then we can medically evaluate it. Don't just vaguely gesticulate in a direction hoping a point has been made.
"or are you the 5th vegan to tell them"
See: "So either you’ve only interacted with a very small number of vegans, or Tumblr in particular somehow has not hit upon this intersectional understanding common in other spaces."
If this has been some peoples' only experience with vegans, well gosh darn, it's almost like it's justified to hate Arab people if your only exposure to them has been terrorists. Or something. I mean, you wouldn't expect people to actually go to a mosque subculture and learn anything about the community right? They were yelled at or dressed down once! Obviously it's ok to take this attitude towards an entire community!! Duh!
Remember kids, stereotyping is ok as long as it's a culture or value system you personally hate!
"They're not questioning why you think humans aren't animals."
"Hey, you're criticizing white people for enacting violence on other races or low IQ people! Obviously you don't think white people are people, if you criticize them or hold them morally accountable for their actions!"
Let's see if the analogy test can be passed this time!
Let's see if you could uphold this attitude, for say, dogs, horses, or cetaceans. "It's ok to brutally murder them needlessly, I mean," *pats dog's head* *watches documentary about whale intelligence* it's not like they're individuals"
Ah, maybe this is the old Appeal to Nature fallacy, actually. "Humans are justified in totally unnecessary violence towards other beings because other animals who have no sense of morality do so." I guess humans can just rape (ducks, chimps, dolphins) and kill their stepchildren (lions) because other animals do so too. We're all animals. Morality is irrelevant!"
And finally, let's address hunting more systematically. Humans now outnumber wildlife by a GREAT multiplied factor.
https://animal-human-relationship.pictures-of-cats.org/mammals-96-are-livestock-and-humans-4-are-wild-animals/
So, any humans still hunting is not remotely ecologically sound or sustainable on a large scale, nor even a pretty small scale, puts pressure on ALREADY bottlenecked genetic diversity, and it is merely an unfortunate (and very hopefully temporary) stopgap until lefists and/or liberals (including vegans) can come together to solve global inaccessibility of food. This will be greatly assisted by . . . hm . . . using resources efficiently and not making food choices that actively take food out of the mouths of the poor
like say . . . a classist would do.
https://planetforward.org/story/the-dirt-on-beef-global-hunger-climate-change/
Did you have a functionally classist meal today, user your-opinions-are-ugly ?
My breath was probably wasted here . . . watch them be a coward, studiously avoid facts, and not even reblog this version.
Anybody THIS committed to hating a community always has a hard time admitting they were wrong.
