As well as being a remarkably different color than the average pokemon of their species, shiny pokemon also have an increased risk of being born with or developing sensory problems. Blindness (or cataracts), deafness, loss of ability to smell, and similar things. It is nearly guaranteed that a shiny pokemon will develop such difficulties about two-thirds of the way through their species' average lifespan. The sense won't always go away entirely, but can dim to a very low point where it is nearly useless. Some species are more likely to dull certain senses than others, but their chances remain the same.

In the Alolan region, Popplio and Brionne are often used as therapy Pokemon. This is due to their extremely joyful and empathetic nature, as well as an observed desire to entertain and bring cheer to their trainers. Furthermore, their skin is naturally cold to the touch and the chill often soothes patients' nerves and proves to be a major help with fevers. Rockruff are less often used for this practice due to their affectionate gesture (rubbing the rocks on their necks on trainers, etc.) being known to cause pain, however, there are some companies that purchase specially-manufactured collars to prevent Rockruff's rocks from injuring patients, so that Rockruff can participate in this service.

So ignoring entries like Ninetales, and nonmaterial/inorganic Pokemon (namely Ghosts, and certain steel types) how long do you think Pokemon live on average? I'm asking because one of your entries said most Pokemon retire from battling around 15 or 25, but I feel like Dragons, or Pokemon like Gardevoir and Gothitelle live at least a human sized life span.

Firstly, sorry for the long wait with however long this has been in the inbox. I’ve been struggling a bit forgetful about this blog and needed to log into an old account to grand myself access to the questions;;

Onto the question, it varies greatly depending on the species. In regards to the dragon-types and humanoid Pokemon you’ve mentioned, the humanoid ones tend to live for a similar period, yes, but dragon types live for a period much longer. Humanoid Pokemon tend to vary a fair amount, but ranges are often between 80 and 125 years. Dragon types often live for centuries, which means they often battle/perform for longer the typical retirement period would dictate, but they still are often retired within 50 years unless they’re released or given to someone else because being active in battle and the like nearly every day does put Pokemon at risk for permanent injuries and the like, and the chances of being harmed in such a way increases as they age. For the most part, I’ll say Pokemon typically live 3-5 times the longer than their real world counterpart, save bug types which live for probably around 30-40 years, but again, species will continue to make a difference.

Huntails, as the name may imply, are fantastic hunters. While they can generally take down or incapacitate prey with a single bite, they have a safety measure in place so that if prey is not taken out swiftly after the initial attack, they are guaranteed a death soon enough. Similar to the Komodo Dragon, Huntails have a highly infection bacteria within their mouths that promises infection to set in within a matter of hours, which will then weaken their pray to the point they can easily overtake them.

The current age where people are permitted to have a Pokemon journey on their lonesome has been upped to the age of fifteen. Up until then, children and teens are required to take basic education classes(basic math and reading you know) as well as survivalist and Pokemon-centric classes.

Should they decide to depart early, they must be accompanied by someone over the age of twenty(i.e. a sibling, parent, cousin, or otherwise someone qualified to care for a minor) and must take supplementary lessons while on their journey at locations such as Pokemon Centers.

Silph Co. is often observed simply as a business; however, that is absolutely false. It is closely linked with the government in the form of it being a mass producer of pokeballs and, therefore, a major necessity for recordkeeping and safety of the region of Kanto - hence why it was attacked by Team Rocket in the Red/Blue-->FR/LG games, andthese events(as far as the mod's beliefs go)happened within the universe of Pokemon.

The technology of Pokeballs is very strange, but the most notable aspect of these items, aside from their astounding ability to minimize Pokemon hundreds of times over, is their microchipping function. Once a Pokemon is captured, it is then linked to that Pokeball and data is collected on the creature residing within. These can measure species, sex, movesets, health, and a brief personality, alongside many other things, and by that point the government is notified of the new capture. The Pokeball will not be connected to a particular trainer straightaway, but should the Pokemon be entered into official competitions, then they will be registered with that Pokemon as an afteraffect of filling out official paperwork. 

Pokeballs are built to also transmit data regarding location and health of the Pokemon, so should they be lost or stolen they can be tracked; there is fault in this software though in the fact that, if a large enough concentration of energy is inflicted just above the button on the Pokeball, then the software for that function often how's on the fritz. The companies, internationally, are trying to solve this problem, but they have yet to find a material that is both sturdy enough to handle this damage and also comparable with all the internal software.

There are laws across every city, county, region - any expanse of land in the pokemon universe, that absolutely forbid the capture - or attempted capture - of any Pokemon of exceptional rarity or who is of legendary status. There is a worldwide belief that the capture of such creatures will either send the world into turmoil or botherwise bring about unfortunate circumstances. Consequences are currently listed across every nation as life imprisonment in seclusion.

Professional battling institutions do also have several rules in place to prevent unfair advantages. They disallow moves that directly cause loss of accuracy or boost evasiveness, bracketing trainers by skill level(with age as a slight factor), and other such things [as a sidenote possibly something like Smogon? - I am not caught up on all their tiers or clauses, as I don't really follow the site, but it may be similar, although the Leagues disallow certain movesets as opposed to banning a Pokemon all together]. Should there be qualms, officials are on site at all tournaments and have offices open for most hours out of the day to have questions answered as well as several websites as to prevent one page being overwhelmed and crashing.

From region to region, it is clear that competitive/league battle rules vary, but only minimally. All regions generally have the same primary rules though: one - both the challenger and opponent are permitted three hard switches, but they are heavily discouraged as trainers are expected to work around their disadvantages(switching moves such as u-turn are not limited by these standards); two - up to three uses of items by the trainer(having the harvest ability or using "recycle" will not break this clause), and three - water-inclusive arenas are available in every major battle institution(I.e. the League and Battle Resort) as to not stunt competitors' team building abilities. Gyms do not have to abide by this rule, as trainers are expected to train a variety of Pokemon - should trainers train water-types exclusively then they must use Pokemon who can be effective or at least battle on land if they desire to get a badge.

The teeth within Mawiles' false jaw(s) are serrated like sharks' and slightly curved inward like snakes'. That being said, the extra jaw(s) serve no function other than defense. They cannot produce saliva or really chew; they can only clamp and be shaken, really.

Anyone with the intent to breed Pokemon, whether for competitive or companionship purposes, is required to attain a license. This is to ensure there is no risk of overpopulation or that, should these Pokemon be released, that they would overwhelm the current environment or substantially harm the food chain.

There are many limitations placed on breeders - the amount of what pokemon they can breed, the amount of /all/ pokemon bred within a certain time frame, who can be bred how many times, whether or not they are able to sell the offspring for monetary gain, amongst many other things. Breeding is handled very seriously by federal law and the punishments for not abiding by each and every statute(which can be altered to a slight degree and requires thorough training as well as extensive legal procedures) are extremely harsh. Community service is not an alternative to prison time, and breeding licenses will be revoked - unable to be renewed.

At the end of a six month period, breeders - as well as breeding programs - are required to submit forms such as birth certificates, ownership and transfer certificates, pedigrees, sale forms and the like and must then wait until after the following month or two for their forms to be returned and confirmed to begin breeding again, unless they are in an unstable financial situation and will then correlate with legal professionals to find an alternative solution. 

Most breeders are required to be affiliated with breeding programs, the most well known being those of starter Pokemon. Each of these will have their own rules regarding population control and the like. Spaying and neutering, housing, domestication, etc.

High-ranking officials are given more freedom with these rules, as their Pokemon are seen as very good breeding opportunities, but they are still limited by the number of Pokemon they can parent. High-ranking officials can never, under any circumstance, sell offspring for wealth unless they have relinquished their seat.

Breeding for contests is a more difficult program to manage, so a different post will be up at a later date, but it's safe to say the programs involved are very selective and coordinators often have a lot of involvement in choosing who to breed.

After experiencing a sudden jump in popularity, the Eevee population in the regions of Kanto and Unova has skyrocketed leading to extremely strict regulations on breeding this Pokemon. This includes attaining a license explicitly for Eevee and a limit on the eggs one is able to produce. As an extra safety precaution, this law has been expanded to all regions.

The hairs on Jolteons' bodies aren't unalike the quills of a hedgehog in their hollowness and rising to protect themselves. However, Jolteons' are electrically charged and, thusly, can be used to function similarly to a taser in being fired off and temporarily paralyzing or stunning their targets.

As a result, various regions' police forces have Jolteons on standby if they need to capture a suspect who's at a high risk of escaping or is running off.

Small bird Pokemon like Starly and Pidgey are frequently bred and trained for the purpose of delivering mail over large distances. They aren't trusted with large parcels, but with letters and other such things.

Every letter is brought to a mail hub in the city by a small group of three of a species of bird Pokemon - who are made to flock together for safety - who are housed there who then return to whatever delivery service they work with the very next day.

These Pokemon are trained to fly to a few specific locations, often capped off at three, so they aren't overwhelmed and the company doesn't have as high a risk in losing mail.

Once these birds evolve, they do still have a potential position in this line of work, but they will typically be retired as a pet or chosen by a trainer and able to participate in battles or contests.

As we all know, shiny Pokemon are adored and sought out by humans, however, due to the massive difference in coloration causing difficulty with blending into the environment, these Pokemon will often be abandoned by their parents in the wild as they're less likely to survive whether they live as herbivores or carnivores.
