re: who’s a better captain between shane and ilya like okay maybe shane is untouchable because of his skills and doesn’t party with the metros a lot and when he does its a ginger ale or half a beer but he’s an incredibly stable person that I think makes up for a lot of that. on the other hand I can see the raiders rookies having to be taken aside and being told that at least three times a season ilya will come to practice and be behaving like a wild animal with dead eyes and when this happens you pick a god and you pray.

I love the Ep 4 club scene where Ilya is fully flaunting this woman to Shane because the reasoning is so nuanced- it’s all of Ilya’s hurt manifesting, yes- its jealousy, yes- but it’s also seduction. It’s Ilya saying ‘this could be you. I want it to be you’ and Shane knows that- the atmosphere of the club and the intensity of Ilya’s gaze is intoxicating and far too much and too painful. Its everything he’s denying himself and Ilya is reaching out a hand, however cloaked in hurt, and screaming ‘come back, and you can have this again’

now to expand, we all know it is wrong to lie to people, and it's not particularly wrong to act. however: to lie, you need to be starkly aware of what the truth of you actually is, in order to obscure it. but to act, to fully step into a role, it is better if you never know yourself at all.
