having to pay for parking at a hospital will always be fucking deranged to me. Sorry
“oh that’s just how it is” well. It should not fucking be like that.
King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer.
The type of cancer hasn’t been revealed but according to the BBC it is not prostate cancer, but it was discovered during treatment for his enlarged prostate.
The BBC sent several push notifications throughout this treatment as if I wanted regular frequent updates on the status of the king’s prostate.
I did not.
I’ve already said this on my own blog, and I hope Aye won’t mind me saying it again here:
While I would be profoundly happy to watch the UK monarchy crumble to dust in an instant, and I will not mourn the loss of such a parasitic monster, please don’t infer that anyone deserves cancer for being a bad person.
Illness doesn’t care about morality. It happens to the best and worst of us regardless.
Implying that someone earned cancer is hugely ableist whether you meant it or not.
Just be mindful of your phrasing, folks. Other people with cancer can see you.

Yes. Absolutely. I’m already seething with rage over that and the total injustice of it all.
I have zero regard or sympathy for him, and so much anger at the system that perpetuates his and his family’s existence.
He could get struck by lightning tomorrow and I’d light a celbratory cigarette off the ashes.
I’m just trying to gently nudge people to rethink their choice of language around illness because as a chronically ill and disabled person with lots of friends who have or have had cancer, is it not fun to suddenly wonder if the people who you thought were your friends secretly think you did something to deserve your suffering.
Like it's okay if your knee jerk reaction was “oh good he’ll be gone soon” (I did it too) I’m just asking people to reframe illness in their minds and remove the morality from it.
Christian idealogy about deserved suffering with regards to health is the reason so many of us die neglected and in agony.
Charles with all his ill-gotten money will not face that. He’ll have round-the-clock care and someone to push a boatload of morphine into him when the time comes. Be angry about that, by all means be furious. I am.
Just don't throw other, more vulnerable people under the bus of your ire with him.
reminder that disability is not linked to age whatsoever! young people can and do have bad backs. young people can and do need to use mobility aids, and hearing aids, and so much more. it's not an "old people thing"!
when im listening to my own library and playlists i feel like a powerful wizard but when im trying to show my music taste to anyone it feels like i have a shame cone on
The only difference between a wizard hat and a dunce cap is the wide brim of privacy
Telepathic aliens enjoy that humans will "play music" for hours at a time. When it's too mentally quiet on deck, they just announce the catchiest song titles they know and the humans will start thinking about it automatically.
The humans hate this so, so much.
Zorf: Human Steve, can you please play that song I like, the one with all the females
Steve: what
Zorf: A little bit of Monica in my life
Steve:
Steve: mother fu--
If you are thinking about it on paper, the bus running every half hour doesn't sound so bad, until you're waiting at the stop and you miss a bus or it's delayed. Then you're waiting a very, very long time. To people who never take transit, that's probably fine. Why do you care. To people who only take transit, they're expecting it, it's baked in their lives. But the important part, what really impacts our cities, is what happens to people for whom transit is an option.
The spiral goes like this. You go to take the bus instead of driving, thinking "I'm going to o have a couple drinks" or "I don't want to worry about parking where I'm going." So you take bus. First bus is right on time. But then you transfer from your neighborhood line to the line that takes you where you actually want to go. And your bus is delayed. And it only comes every 30 minutes. And then you're waiting, 40 minutes later, wondering where your bus is, knowing you could have driven there in 20 minutes.
Why would you ever chose to take a bus again? The bus made you waste precious time on your day off just sitting there. So next time you drive. Ridership goes down. When the transit authority asks for more money for more buses and more drivers, people point to the ridership numbers and say "why should we pay for this instead of paying for our schools/police/baseball stadium/parks/police again (let's be real that's who's taking all the money)?" If we want to increase ridership we need to actually design and fund functional transit networks. If we want people to actually ride the bus we need to make it a better option than driving, which means reliable service, which you don't get with a bus every 30 minutes.
Every 15 minutes, everywhere, all of the time.
I have been told to reblog this as USPS propaganda.

no u cannot leave this hidden in the tags oh my LORD
Hello fellow sloppy bisexuals how is not putting away the laundry going
wait THAT’S why my wife always says “son boy allowed” about our cat??
average guy spends zero dollars on touching his friends. mile phakphum romsaithong, who spent millions of dollars so he could fondle his homie's ass on camera, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
Today was my last day of work at the library, so I went full Chaos Goblin, photoshopped a Goncharov DVD cover with the poster, screenshots from posts in the tag, part of the Polygon article, and some vague plot insinuations, and I left it on the shelf for whoever to find. Only one coworker knows what I did, and we're friends, so she's all for it.
For bonus points, I photoshopped the spine to look like it had a library spine label on it. Let the games begin.
Okay, this is PHENOMENAL.
btw I’ve found these stretches from the WAK blog very helpful when knitting a lot:
Plus make sure to take breaks regularly - and stop if anything starts to hurt!
especially with gift knitting I know it can be tempting to push through it for a deadline, but it’s really not worth causing long term injury. (And anyone knit-worthy should be understanding of that, imho.) Stay well :)
Also good for artists drawing with pencils/on a tablet/with a pen!
when welcome to night vale said: “Sleep heavily and know that I am here with you. The past is gone, and cannot harm you anymore. And while the future is fast coming for you, it always flinches first, and settles in as the gentle present. This now, this us, we can cope with that. We can do this together you and I.”
