She/Her, Indian
Damn. They should have made me read this for school. I can hear every science thing explained in this book said in the respective teacher's voice. Considering that they are all, to a person, perky five-feet-and-not-much-else women, it is a very interesting inner monologue. Weir did a very good job of distilling rocket mechanics and extraterrestrial biology into byte-sized pieces. Reminds me of everything I hated about calculating rocket fuel projections and telemetry (without calculators!) but more enjoyable.
I just watched Project Hail Mary on Amazon Prime (it's included with Prime now for Prime Day!) and boy oh boy was it worth watching. I've wanted to watch it since it came up, but I was drowning in exams, so that didn't happen. I'll put up a full review once I read the book- my hold on it is
So it's going to be a while. But yeah, the movie was a delight.
First projects with the new yarn! The paw print is a test swatch for a new project, and Leopold the Lion is from Amigurumi Friends by Jade Gauthier-Boutin.
I’m finally free of exams and the first thing I did was go out and buy yarn, now that I actually have time to knit and crochet. Stay tuned for new projects…
Could I please put Bunnywan in a very nicely appointed vivarium on my desk to keep me company as I break down while studying? Nyanakin may join him- he looks fluffy to the touch...
It's like their personal little garden 🌱
They'll cheer you on and pat your head with their tiny hands if you get migraine!

So I've found that I have a dearth of Anidala fics where their romance and relationship with each other play a major role that are set in the GFFA and truly focus on them and how they shape the galaxy around them.
Every time I click on the Padmé Amidala/Anakin Skywalker tag on AO3 I get fics where their pairing is either nonexistent, background to other relationships (Obikin) or inconsequential. Oh, and don't forget modern AUs. Don't get me wrong, I love a modern AU. But I'd like fics set in George Lucas' universe, it's so well crafted and Anidala plays such a prominent part.
Please help me find more!
Here are some fics that I love and personally recommend (in no particular order:
Heretic Pride (58221 words) by Fialleril: Like most Republic citizens, the Naberries have never spent much time thinking about the Jedi. But that changes with the birth of their daughter Ilaré. (Or, the AU where the third Naberrie daughter is a Jedi, Padmé offers Naboo as a sanctuary for runaway slaves, Shmi is a conductor on the Tatooine freedom trail, and Anakin jump starts a reformation. Or maybe a heresy. It all depends on your point of view.)
Never Stop Loving- Shmi's Legacy (9334 words) by SoulUntraveled: Anakin's world is thrown upside down when he lost his mother, but her last words etch deep into his heart. The repercussions of a Shmi's last wish for her son will change the fate of a galaxy on the brink of war. (This is the first part of a series)
First Day On A Brand New Planet (17186 words) by jilyandbambi: The One Where Anakin is taken in as a ward of Naboo after being turned away by the Jedi Council.
The Insurgent and the Heretic (80110 words) by ClawedandCute: Padme is a nine year old Nabooian orphan who argues her way into Obi-Wan's heart and into an apprenticeship (mostly because Qui-Gon said "not my monkeys, not my circus, not my new padawan" after she sassed him). Anakin is a nine year old Force null slave on Tatooine who never crosses paths with the Jedi until he is a seventeen year old insurgent who just liberated Tatooine with his amu. Two years later, he's a senator who has been assigned Padme Amidala as a bodyguard. Things unfold similarly to how they did in canon and wildly differently.
What Love Did Seek (100314 words) by GemmaWrites: Betrayed by someone she trusts, Senator Padmé Amidala, pregnant and vulnerable, vanishes without a trace. Meanwhile, Anakin Skywalker, freshly returned from saving the Chancellor from Count Dooku's clutches, unaware of Padmé’s pregnancy, leads a frantic galaxy-wide search to find her before it's too late. As dark forces close in and the Republic teeters on the brink of collapse, the hunt for the beloved senator becomes a race against time that could determine the fate of the galaxy - and the Skywalker family - forever.
Precipice (231708 words) by shadowsong26: An AU in which Anakin Skywalker does not follow Mace Windu and the others to Palpatine’s office after they leave to arrest the Chancellor. As a result, he doesn’t get that final push over the edge, and doesn’t Fall. A series.
Color Coordination by husborth
The Accidental Sith, the Confused Jedi Masters, the Eager Padawan, and the Rebel Senator (339647 words) by ClawedandCute:Anakin Skywalker never left Tatooine. Qui-Gon Jinn never died. Padme and Obi-Wan never met Anakin. The Clone Wars began anyway. This is the story of a wildly Force sensitive Anakin who wants nothing to do with the Jedi and who is immediately assumed to be a Sith. This is the story of a slavery hating Padme who has to choose between the Republic and what's right. This is the story of a conflicted Obi-Wan who comes head to head with the Jedi Order's flaws and mistakes. This is the story of a living Qui-Gon Jinn who has to come to grips with his part in all that has gone wrong. This is the story of how the Clone Wars end. Rated M only because of violence and mature themes (noted in the tags or in chapter notes).
We Shall All Be Healed (30258 words) by jilyandbambi: Anakin Falls…Then stops, thinks, gets mad, and saves the galaxy. But that doesn’t mean he’s out of hot water just yet. Or; Following Palpatine’s assassination, Anakin and Padmé hide out on Naboo to fix their marriage and prepare for parenthood, while the Order hunts for the Fallen Jedi, and Obi-Wan angsts over the fate of his former padawan. Or; Yet Another Schmoopy “Everyone Lives” AU that literally no one asked for; in which the most Our Heroes have to contend with are Decades of Emotional Baggage, Overreaching Monks, Unrequited Love, and Colicky Infants. But who’s to say none of that isn’t just as terrifying as a megalomaniacal despot?
There Will Be a Reckoning Yet (24229 words) by MaraMcGregor: Anakin finds out secrets are being kept from him by the people who he's trusted since he first left Tatooine. He's tired of being lied to, of not being in control of his own life. Anakin realizes that he's drifted so far from who he planned to be and what he thought being a Jedi meant. He's determined to find a life for himself, Padmé, and his growing family. Even if that's not on Coruscant due to the tiny matter of assassinating the Chancellor.
Lights in the Shadows (136701 words) by Starwarsforever: It was five years ago when the Clone Wars ended. Five years ago when the Empire rose and the Republic fell. Five years since the Jedi Order was destroyed. All that's left are whispers in the shadows. It had been five years since 14 year old Anakin Skywalker was captured by Darth Sidious and forced to be his apprentice, Darth Vader. Five years he's dealt with it, that is until he is sent on a mission containing such horrific things that he knows that he needs to get out, or die trying.
Remember My Love If Nothing Else (4334 words) by jolecia
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Star Wars - All Media Types, Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) - All Media Types, Star Wars Original Trilogy
Lost But Not Forgotten: Winter Soldier AU - Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker disappeared from the face of the Galaxy the day Palpatine executed Order 66. Padmé Amidala, however, managed to escape from Coruscant when the Empire was formed and became a founding member of the Rebellion. Several years later, when Obi-Wan Kenobi manages to capture the Emperor’s infamous Sith apprentice, Darth Vader, Padmé is left to deal with the horrifying discovery of what happened to her husband at the fall of the Republic.
The ice we skate is getting pretty thin; the water's getting warm so you might as well swim (7096 words) by asparagus_writes: “Are the GAR medics really trained to deliver babies?” “Probably not, but I think they might be our best bet right now.” “I cannot believe this is happening while I’m stuck here on your ship. A ship full of exclusively men.” Taking a very pregnant senator on an important war-ending mission is not a good idea. Padme, Rex, Anakin, and Admiral Yularen learn this the hard way.
pocket full of sand (5751 words) by philthestone: “I’m Leia Skywalker,” she says, and there is something unfathomably life-changing about that little declaration. “We’re here to rescue you!” AU
The Echoes of Battlecries and War Songs (94452 words) by no_loose_wire_jokes: When Senator Padmé Amidala is kidnapped, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, against the wishes of the Jedi Council, takes her retrieval into his own hands, unaware of the malevolence at play behind the scenes.
SO many more Anidala fics in my bookmarks, but these are the ones (that I can think of) where Anidala is quite a focus.
Rolling with the concept of Obi-Wan on Tatooine understanding Anakin better than he ever did during their 13 years of constant companionship.
For Obi-Wan everything on Tatooine is Anakin. During his second dry season, Obi-Wan understands how the desperation of poverty can last a lifetime. He understands why someone might be so desperate for security.
Every little boy is little Ani. Every teenager hanging around the cantina is his Padawan. Every person caught between childhood and adulthood is his Anakin.
He learns about the culture Anakin was raised in.
Obi-Wan provides what little help he can to escaped slaves and is taught how important the family you end up with is. You never forget the family you were born to but it is disgraceful to reject the family who comes to you, especially if you are the older party.
Did he reject Anakin? Obi-Wan never ment to reject Anakin.
Obi-Wan learns about traditional Tatooine folk art. He see’s the little doodles Anakin would leave on his homework. Obi-Wan catches some of a folk dance performance intended to extend strength and solidarity. He see’s the odd little adjustments Anakin would make to his lightsaber form.
He can’t even ask Anakin if he was aware of his home planet’s influence over everything he did. Anakin would probably feel insulted. Obi-Wan can guess Tatooine’s presence in Anakin’s actions wad not intentional but he never really can know, can he?
He learns about the life Anakin had left behind.
One day, after a long hot week, something in Obi-Wan’s cave breaks and he has to go source a replacement for the broken part in the city. The only place that has a suitable replacement is Watto’s junk shop. He knows Watto’s name from panic attacks and nightmares and off-hand comments that terrified Obi-Wan every time. The entire interaction is like talking to a ghost.
When he leaves, he notices Watto has a new slave. A girl about 12. He only knows she’s there because the girl drops something, breaking it. Obi-Wan watches out of the corner of his eye as Watto yanks the girl by her arm and puts his cigarette out on her hand.
All Obi-Wan can think about is how fast a person can burn.
He is different? Isn’t he? He is different than this man who gave his boy nightmares right? He is different than this man he used to curse? Isn’t he?
Of course he is. Of course he is. Most of the time Obi-Wan knows that. Not all of the time, though.
The more he learns, the more questions he has.
Sometimes Obi-Wan will see the old men who hang around, waiting for someone weaker or lower status to exploit. These men always make Obi-Wan think of Palpatine. His mind starts inventing new scenarios of what he could have missed. None of the places his imagination goes are good. But it’s all useless because it’s all done. It’s over.
The wondering is unbearable but at least Anakin is also present in all the joy Tatooine has to offer.
Obi-Wan seeing a group of kids playing a game and laughing and realizing Anakin had taught it to Ahsoka.
Luke smiling just like Anakin.
Obi-Wan coming to understand that love is so often kept secret on Tatooine but is felt so strongly and so truly.
Even just hearing the slang that Anakin used to use as a boy.
Watching families walking together and, for the first time, Obi-Wan understanding how it would be hard to leave that behind.
He finally understands.
Obi-Wan eventually notices how young parents tend to be on Tatooine. He had always dismissed Anakin likening their relationship to a father and son because they were too close in age. He spares a thought for Shmi Skywalker. They were likely around the same age. He feels ancient now but he knows how young he felt just before the war started. Maybe she felt just as young and unsure. Maybe she had to feel much older than she actually was.
So he spares a thought for the mother of his child. A woman he has never met and will never meet but who he owes all of his joy and all of his pain too. He couldn’t bring their child back to her.
What kind of a man kills his brother? What kind of a man abandons his son?
What kind of person leaves someone to burn alive?
The guilt is crushing. How could it not be?
But Obi-Wan has to get up every day anyways. He sees Anakin every day anyways. Maybe that’s the greatest blessing he has.
It’s too late, but he finally understands.
Guys I am so PRO-GUILT its crazy!!! Generally, not just for Obi-Wan Kenobi. I think Obi-Wan’s problem isnt guilt I think it’s shame. Shame is bad. And that is #mytruth
THIS!!! THIS!!! Like Obi-Wan, your Padawan had a whole life, culture, past, and trauma before he met you. That shaped him, and you refused to see it. He loved you, and you rejected him over and over again.

I have terrible eyesight. Absolute garbage. I've worn glasses since I was six, and if you talk to me when I'm not wearing them, I will not know who you are. I'm sorry, but it's the truth.
What game would you erase from your memory just to experience it for the first time again?

Capture the flag, with all the house rules my friends and I came up with. I'd give quite a lot for to experience the joy of racing through the playground with friends I'd known for years and people I'd met less than thirty minutes ago again.
Oh, the days when making friends was as simple as "do you want to play with us?
There's this one little gray tabby cat that sits on my gate lampposts and meows at me whenever I sit outside, and comes meowing for me at the gate at 3 o'clock and 5 o'clock (the times when I usually leave the house for some reason or another), or when it starts thundering so that I can let her take shelter under my mango tree...
The Color Game. “Humans can’t reliably recall colors. This is a simple game to see how good (or bad) you are at it. We’ll show you five colors, then you’ll try and recreate them.” I scored 39/50 but got a perfect score on one color.
I made a batch of chocolate chip cookie bars to celebrate the end of my hardest finals (only bio left! Hooray!) and my brother ate over half the batch... is it a compliment to my baking if the words are never said?
Crochet teddy bear! This little guy fits in the palm of my hand- the pattern is by Ami Saigon on YouTube. The snowflake he's hanging on was 3D printed for a CAD class.
