she said "nezhno, baby, you kinda talk too much." but in a royal way.
re-read the x-men worlds apart mini today.
the only reason I go on Reddit now is to find these bad two sentence horror posts. they're great. they're bad. but they're great.
i think the key difference between george lucasâs star wars and disneyâs star wars is that lucas is a man with an ideology. someone with a point of view, and all that entails. which comes with ideas of revolution, anti-imperialism, challenging the status quo, cultural appropriation and racist stereotypes. complex and contradictory ideas because thatâs how artists are: complex and complicated people. disney is not. disney is a corporation. a corporation canât have ideology, because ideology defeats the purpose of profit. and when the only thing you do is to turn on the movie manufacturing machine before you sit down and plan what ideas are you trying to convey to the audience, then your results are going to be washed out corporate garbage. and because when youâre a giant corporation who only cares about selling to the widest audience possible, you canât take sides. you canât decide on an idea. because you want to sell your product to people who are on the entire political spectrum. which results in movies without ideology, without purpose, without soul.
I have been looking for this post for years after I came across it and itâs finally here and I need to reblog this because it is absolutely and entirely accurate.
#as I always say: lucas was making a samurai film and a ww2 flying ace film and a western film and adding laser swords#because he fundamentally LIKED samurai films and dambusters films and westerns and 40âs adventure serials#but disney are making a âstar wars filmâ and adding nothing because it already had laser swords and they have nothing else to say#xerox of a xerox baybeeeee (via harrietvane)

I feel like one of the biggest life hacks I've found after my twenties is that gravitating towards people who define themselves by what they love and are rather than what they oppose or aren't tends to lead to people who are more generally nice to be around
i guess DNI lists do work in the sense that sometimes i see a user with a DNI full of so many crazy specific discourse topics and opinions that i immediately think "this person is extremely exhausting to be around and/or fourteen years old" and lose all desire to follow them. so like. it did its job. in a way.
When you mention piracy to the wrong person and now you have to listen to them talk for 2 hours that we need to support small businesses such as EA and Amazon
and i had to wonder.......was it even possible for fictional characters to be friends and coworkers with each other? or could we only exist in a world where all dynamics are processed through the lens of the nuclear family?
how do i get close to you

im getting on the crazy bus to crazy city
I think a lot of morally gray women enjoyers in this fandom don't actually want to deal with the consequences of a morally gray woman. You can't call Jason a nazi or a cop and let Barbara "pro cop surveillance state that uses the governments bombs with pretty much no opposition" Gordon slide by with a stamp of moral superiority. Bruce/Jason/Dick can't be obsessed with their man pain to selfish ends and unable to get over themselves while Cassandra "whole personality and moral philosophy is a trauma response she has never actually evaluated the effectiveness of" Cain is walking around projecting on anyone she sees a passing resemblance to herself in. You can't criticize Slade's emotional neglect/lying/cheating but make Adeline seem like the victim of their relationship as the one with objectively more power in their dynamic for most of their marriage (older than him, position of authority, better combatant/very prone to putting her hands on him, the one with the financial power and family support and public relations due to her old money family in the older comics) those bitches are toxic4toxic and Adeline has always held a lot of agency in Deathstroke comics that characters like Rose or Tara are denied.
I'm not saying fans of these characters are bad/the characters are bad/that you HAVE to criticise their every action to enjoy them, but I am saying if you don't give their actions the same narrative weight as the men YOU are contributing to the inequality problem. The "women are allowed to be evil because they're women but when men do it they really are evil" rhetoric is a form of infantalization. It's just "women/femininity are inherently good and pure while men/masculinity is inherently dirty and bad" bioessentialism repackaged under #girlboss that, in attempting to wave away any analysis that might invoke criticism, ultimately undermines the complexity of the characters as a whole. These women are messy! They're not bastions of moral righteousness and responsibility who are always right!
They fuck up, sometimes they hurt people, sometimes they do it on purpose, sometimes they impose their will on others because they believe their way is the right way and they violate people's privacy, autonomy, and boundaries to do it! It's okay for women to have flaws that aren't quirky and sexy that's the goal of complex female characters actually. Let them be complex that's what we want. You should want people to put weight on the actions of your characters and acknowledge their flaws and do fun story things with them instead of sanding them down into The Normal One, or The Mom Friend, or The Big Sister, or The Sad Ex Wife or whatever. Fanon is not going to stop doing that if even their fans handwave the batshit/dubious/straight up bad stuff they do and never actually analyze them from the same perspective they do the male characters.
Wow things are are starting to get quiet with my exam season drawing to a close maybe I can finally do the thing I've been meaning to do?
looks at my comic tbr, my book tbr my game backlog, my letterbox watchlist for 2026
Yeah but not that though ...
how are you gonna be 31 and posting fandom content bro leave it to the teenagers
People 10 and 20 years older than me are writing your favorite fanfics, and drawing your favorite characters. You'd have no fandom without the people you think are 'too old' to have hobbies.
This mentality is so insanely frustrating. Why do teenagers think that people have to give up their hobbies, give up fun, when they reach a certain age? Like??
When I was a teenager writing fic, I remember finding out that one of my favorite authors was in her 50s and that just was SUCH a revelation for me!! What do you mean, 50 year olds can write fanfic?!? Does that mean I can write fics when I'm her age?? That's AWESOME! I seriously looked up to her so much. And now I'm 35 with a husband and kid, and I'm still writing fanfic and posting fandom content - and I have no plans of stopping!
If you try to drive 30+ people out of fandom, you're going to lose the backbone of said fandom!
The ageism in fandom is fucking insane. Itâs strange that people seem to have the idea that fandom was created by and for teenagers⊠It was not. It was created by adults. How would we have ao3 if only teenagers were in fandom?
I donât want to sound like I am hating on younger people in fandom, but god, yâall need to stop it with the ageism. You donât have to give up what you love once youâre an adult. Honestly, the belief that you have to is pretty bad. It sounds like it would make people afraid of aging. Granted, modern society is so very afraid of aging.
Donât give up what you love just because youâre an adult. You donât have to. And donât try to force others to do it either.
Look, just because youâre not aware of the adults in your life having hobbies doesnât mean that they donât. Your momâs secretly been writing smut since before you were born. She hangs out on Discord with her friends and talks about Fourth Wing and Heated Rivalry. She actually has an AO3 account and a Tumblr youâre not even aware of.
Adults are complicated humans.
