Evil wizard tasteful pin-up magazine but it's all photos of like, skinny old goths coyly fingering cursed amulets, long-bearded sorcerers doing the 'oopsie' pose as their corrosive destruction spell destroys enough of their own robes to show some skin, naked desiccated lich king positioning his staff of human skulls just so it leaves something to the imagination, dark knights in full armor just holding their soul-eating blades out in front of their codpieces, orc chieftain who did not understand the assignment and is posing with a monster he killed like one of those guys-with-fish photos. Or maybe he DID understand the assignment. Hmm.
@evilwizard are you in that?
i should sell this
Can I be honest with yall I don't want to hear SHIT against cishets at pride this year
"But it's not FOR them!!!" The biggest military power in the world belongs to a christofascist nation overseen by a felon found guilty of 34 federal crimes and has greenlit a gestapo with more direct funding than the entire military of Canada for the purpose of ethnic cleansing. Let Hetero Jessica throw some biodegradable glitter at a municipal parade
I do not agree with veganism as a moral standard. If it is your personal moral stance, that is fine. If you think humans eating meat is inherently immoral, I donât want to deal with you, youâre hopeless. Vegan ideology behaves more like a sect of evangelical Christianity than a dietary choice.
Veganism is better for the environment, but claiming that it's a morally superior choice ignores cultural and economic factors that make people eat animal products.
It is not inherently better for the environment. That is the thing. When you begin trying to explain that local, sustainably sourced animal protein is better for the environment than imported plant proteins that are farmed 3,500 miles away using slave labor, they start tuning you out. Down is better for the environment than polyester stuffing, leather is better for the environment than pleather. We should work on making animal agricultural practices more sustainable instead of trying to shame everyone into eating plant products that are also farmed unethically and unsustainably.
i am not a psychiatrist but i do find it really weird how autism checklists are so often focused on "outward" signs of autism rather than what is going on internally. i don't know how to explain it but "do you make eye contact with other people" feels like a much less relevant question than "how does it feel when you have to make eye contact with other people?"
while i'm here, the other one that always pisses me off is "do you interpret idioms literally, for example 'bull in a china shop'?"
well, no, obviously. i know what "bull in a china shop" means because that is a popular phrase with a clearly defined meaning. and if i hadn't heard it before, then i would still not interpret it literally, because it has the cadence of an idiom and i would probably be able to work out from context what it meant. what is the point of this question
third and final complaint: "are you good at noticing subtext?"
i feel like the problem with this question is best illustrated by a conversation i had with a friend a while back, where i said something like, "i feel very safe with you because you don't do subtle hints and you are always very straight-up with me about what you are thinking and feeling."
and he laid a hand on my shoulder and was like, look dude i'm gonna be straight up here. i am subtle with you constantly and you simply do not notice <3
@luckyybones hope you don't mind me screenshotting but you are actually so correct
fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didnât grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like âbro what is this đ.â why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.
âcollege is absolutely nothing like thisâ âwhy are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one gameâ âso tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!â
if you donât like a fic, and if you canât suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you donât have to read it. you donât have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you donât have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. itâs not giving babyâs first fandom anymore, itâs giving entitled asshole and it isnât as cute as you think it is.
... the worst bit is I know several people this could be, especially given the 'in Australia' clarification
If you know them then there's a chance I might know some of them and that thought will keep me up at night.
This wasnât the guy who we all know who used to spray his jeans with Mortein and then light himself on fire, was it?
He used to sit at the back of the bus, cup his hand, spray deodorant into it, then open it and light it on fire with a lighter in one fell swoop to try and impress girls.
He had to stop because the bus company begged our school to tell him to stop bc of legal liability. His hands never actually got damaged after doing it for about a year.
I reached out to my old friend in question here, because I've been thinking about him all day.
I do not know what "the amulet" is. I have no idea what "the amulet" is referring to.
I instantly remembered when he said that.
While we were all at the local park doing legal things that teenagers would do back in the late 2000s, my friend here found a rock at our old smoke spot that was unusually smooth and flat. He liked it so much that he took it to the woodwork classrooms at school, drilled a hole in it, and hung it on a necklace.
When we asked why he weanwearing this dinky-ass pebble on his neck, he claimed it prevented him from ever getting food-related illnesses: wouldn't get food poisoning, couldn't over-eat, was able to ingest anything (prior to him finding The Amulet, a few of us used to play a game called "Devil's Piss" where we would take turns shoving random food bits into a bottle of coke, and the first person to take a sip would get two dollars from the other players).
When we all asked him for the proof that this rock is magicalâbecause nobody believed him, obviouslyâhe said to meet him behind the History block at lunch, where he said he would drink two litres (or half a gallon) of milk in one go and not puke.
We met him there, and about ten of us all watched him down a whole bottle of strawberry milk in two or three breaths.
He didn't puke.
He jumped up and down and punched his stomach to prove it.
He still didn't puke.
I'm so glad I'm alive.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
finding out jk rowling invited epstein over more than once is really the least surprising thing out of them
at this point i expect hp fans to delude themselves more into thinking somehow its not what it looks like when theres literally no other way to look at it
Things people hate hearing:
You are capable of harm
You have some level of power and agency
Ergo it is your responsibility to communicate your needs and boundaries
If you lie to someone about something being okay when it isn't, that is on you
Something being a trauma response doesn't exempt it from harming your relationships and the other people in them
Enabling your trauma responses will not make them go away, and it is your responsibility to work on yourself for your own wellbeing as well as the people around you
Being A Victim cannot be a pillar of your identity forever, and being victimized does not make you incapable of harming other people (see above)
You are not a mouse in a jean jacket you are an eel with a gun / adult human being who can use your words even if it's Scary
Having a personality disorder doesn't make you evil but you have got to get off of Personality Disorder Tumblr (see above, re: enabling)
Deep sigh. You want me to ~be compassionate~ here's the compassionate answer: your trauma will tell you you're a helpless child forever and you need to Not Think This Way for yourself (living under the assumption you're still in danger whether you actually are or not) and everyone else who has to tiptoe around your Sensitivity. That's how you break the cycle and you can only do this by accepting responsibility for your actions. And it seems like a small semantic thing but imo step one is calling yourself a survivor instead of a victim. Self identifying with your victimhood helps No One. You lived, now get up
For anyone wondering what Wild Rabbit could be writing about if not minotaur smut.
gun to my head, you show me the cover and tell me to guess the plot, I a) would never have come up with something as painfully non-horny as above and b) no actually i'm still stuck on point a.
Thinking about 30-50 feral hogs again. Can you imagine the majesty. Murmurating like starlings. Elaborate emergent shapes. The deafening snuffling. They pass through a corn field leaving only rubble behind. And the danger! Don't get too close! It's electric. we have only begun to conceive of the hog

Shane Hollander is lowkey the most heartbreaking character of all time and Iâm glad Jacob Tierney recognized that because Rachel Reid certainly didnât.
Shaneâs comphet and compartmentalization of his sexuality and true self outside of a few frantic encounters with Ilya a few times a year is devastating. His refusal to tell anyone in his life - his teammates, his parents, friends he doesnât have - what he truly wants because he canât even admit it to himself.
Everything is hockey, everything is brand deals. No, he canât have a glass of wine because he canât do anything thatâll potentially impact his performanceon the ice. He canât date because everything is about his career and when itâs the off season, he locks himself away at his cottage where he spends most of his time alone. Hayden is the closest thing he has to a friend, but if Shane canât even admit to himself how he feels, how is he supposed to confide in Hayden?
He can have sex with Ilya behind closed doors without words exchanged, but the second it begins to resemble something real, when Ilya starts trying to figure out what Shane really wants, Shane panics and forces himself into a relationship with a woman, because what he has with Ilya doesnât make sense or fit into any version of himself that he can foresee.
One of the best decisions Jacob Tierney made in the show was showing Shane be intimate with Rose and frame it as devastating and stomach churning. Shaneâs performance of heterosexuality is painful. It actively holds him back from being his true self. The book glosses over it and mentions Shane has shitty sex with Rose a couple of times, and doesnât go into any meaningful detail about how Shane, a gay man in love with another man, forcing himself to have sex with a woman to perform heterosexuality would be extremely difficult and unpleasant for him.
The scene in the show is unpleasant and heartbreaking. We see and feel how much Shane doesnât want to be doing this, but he feels like he has to.
Shaneâs break up with Rose is 10 tens more emotional and impactful in the show than it is in the book, because Shaneâs clumsiness with women is not portrayed as a punchline. We see him processing in real time that he canât just keep faking it. Shane thinks he is good at hiding and compartmentalizing, but it only took Rose two sexual encounters to figure him out. Heâs forced to reckon with the fact that he canât just keep ignoring who he really is and what he really wants.
The scene where we finally get a glimpse into just how painful everything is for Shane is another scene thatâs not in the book - Shaneâs conversation with Yuna outside.
âI tried. I tried really hard. I just canât help it.â
Now that heâs finally starting to let go of the performance and separation heâs tried to maintain all of these years - Shane Hollander Hockey Player versus Shane Hollander The Person - he can admit that thereâs nothing he can do to change who he is or how he feels, but that will never erase the pain of all those years of trying, of trying to be who his mother wanted him to be and who the MLH wanted him to be. He denied himself the ability to be fully human and fully himself for so long and heâll never get that time back.
I never want to hear the words âShane doesnât have traumaâ ever again.

When I was little I got lucky enough to develop a taste for reading on my own faster than the public school system could beat it out of me, which caused me to overperform in elementary school, which led all the adults around me to develop the idea that I was some sort of omnicompetent supergenius who didn't experience problems. I had a hell of a time making it through high school b/c I'd be like "Hey, I can't / don't know how to do X Y and Z, can I like get a hand" and the adults would be like "Nooo you're So Smart so clearly you're only having problems because you're Not Trying and Just Don't Care. You being a genius, and all." And I'd be like "Chief, I'm not sold on this whole 'genius' thing. I think I might just be, y'know, regular. Like a regular lady." And they'd be like, "Oh, so you're just Giving Up. Well, we can't help you."
