Multi-generational fandom that is completely unpleasable.

Confusion about canon from contradicting franchise materials, so everyone picks and chooses what they like and argue about it.

Real world parallels causing fans to use fandom as activism in the worst way possible.

Complicated™️ relationship with the creator(s).

Treating artists, actors, and other creatives like they aren't human beings and mixing hatred for corpos into critiques.

Character/ship stans and antis going way too far.

Stans of the villains with cool aesthetics going way too far.

Characters from a monk-like culture getting hate for moral nuances and not dealing with their genocide well.

Being weird about women and girls.

Toxic shippers vs. shipping haters who constantly complain about shipping.

DISCOURSE DISCOURSE DISCOURSE but no one will ever change their mind.

Edgelords who want everything to be HBO despite the franchise being intended for family viewing.

Moral guardians who want everything to be squeaky clean and unchallenging despite the franchise being intended for family viewing.

Fans who are too emotionally invested and treat it as a sacred text.

"Fans" who have no emotional investment and don't care about it as an artistic endeavor.

Fans who are only emotionally invested in a very specific thing and cannot see the bigger picture.

I'm sorry I really don't buy Zuko being friends with the rest of the gaang post war like he's SUCH an odd man out compared to the rest of them and he has the least reason to stick around 4 other people given that he's an absolute monarch and is kind of busy. Post-war zuko is like, a guy they're friendly with and get invited to events for not a guy they hit up for tea every week, they barely even know him

The fandom tries to get around this by putting the Gaang in the Fire Nation for dubious reasons (“ambassador”) as if they don’t have better things to do than orbit around Zuko, a guy they spent one or two very stressful weeks with as an ally after several months of him being their enemy
