Being invalidated everyday is certainly not easy and being told that “once you grow up you will end up conforming to these gender stereotypes you dislike right now” is really discouraging for any young person.

Why revolianism IS important

Boys and girls are different but the problem lays in the fact that our society prioritizes culture over biology: for example, makeup isn’t a female trait. But it is culturally believed that it belongs to women.

If we keep socializing our daughters to believe that their appearances are all that matters about them, we will be no different than the generations before us, taking the model from the 1950 and thus, not progressing.

Same goes for boys: we need to tell them that they can have a passion for fashion, they can have long hair and they shouldn’t feel pressured to be the “macho” type if they don’t wish to.

What revolianism wants to do is to eradicate the stereotype that appearances are related to sexuality and therefore, straight people should not be pressured to conform to gender stereotypes just because of their sexuality.

And that progress should be made, as a lot of people feel invalidated and are unsure if they will be accepted as themselves in a society which thinks in boxes.

And if progress is to be made, it should be made for everyone.

You people need to STOP assuming women with short hair are lesbians.

You have no idea how incredibly toxic it is to invalidate straight girls who cut their hair short. Because of this stereotype, this decision will have repercussions in their social lives/love lives. And being in the 21 century everyone should be allowed to look however they want without being invalidated/judged, right?

It is problematic for people to assume your sexuality because it affects your PRIVATE life.

By exclusively promoting this image of lesbians with short hair, not only are you discouraging straight women to cut their hair short and invalidate them because of their sexuality but you also imply that lesbians can’t have long hair or be girly (which is totally false).

Open your mind and learn to think outside the boxes because that’s what intelligence is all about.

And who in the world believes that?? In fact, who came up with the idea that looks can determine your sexual orientation? A lesbian can be very feminine and a gay man can be very masculine. Also, a straight woman can be very masculine and a straight man can be very feminine. Stop labeling people by their looks.

No, these women weren’t actually men, they were just doing what was necessary to perform their profession and passion and be taken seriously.

Early mountaineering was mostly a man's game, but these women still managed to climb to extraordinary heights.

Among these women was Lucy Walker, of whom it was said that she “lived on a diet of sponge cake, champagne and Asti Spumante while on expedition.”

But the best has to be Annie Smith Peck, who, after scaling Peru’s Mount Coropuna at the age of 61, hoisted a “Votes for Women” flag at its summit.

Maria Gaetana Agnesi (1718-1799) was an Italian mathematician and philosopher. She was a member of the University of Bologna, and was the first woman to write a mathematics handbook, and the first in the world to be appointed as a Mathematics professor.

She was a child prodigy who could speak seven languages by age eleven, and at age nine composed and gave an hour-long speech in Latin on the subject of women’s education. The book she wrote and published was the first ever to discuss differential and integral calculus. In later life, she dedicated herself to philanthropy, and established a care home for the elderly.

ADDIS ABABA—Ethiopian Airlines is dispatching its first-ever flight operated by an all-female crew. The flight was scheduled to depart for Bangkok, Thailand, Wednesday night. The airline says it wants to promote women’s empowerment and encourage more African girls to pursue aviation careers.

Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said attracting more women to aviation jobs is one of the reasons for hosting the female flight, together with empowering women.

“It’s going to be very inspiring for all the women all over the world, aviation women and particularly the African woman. Because, as you know, here in the continent of Africa, we are lagging behind in women empowerment. So this is going to inspire all the school girls in Africa that they have a very bright future in the 21st century,” Gebremariam said.

The flight is being handled by women in every aspect – from planning, to aircraft maintenance, and from the pilots to air traffic controllers. Even upon arrival in Bangkok, all customs and immigration officers will be female.

Ethiopian Airlines says about one third of its employees are women. But the number is smaller when it comes to positions such as pilots and technicians.

It’s incredible that men only care about a woman’s personal choice of style/living/looks when these include being a barbie doll, being submissive, having no self respect, shaving, wearing makeup, being a housewife or dependent on them. It’s something that should be studied in psychology to be fair.
