You can really tell who’s never experienced poverty and food insecurity when it comes to discussions around food costs and how unhealthy food is cheaper. Some fucker always comes in with the price of like… lettuce or… apples. And it’s like yeah bitch but can you work an 11 hour shift after eating some salad and an apple!?! Find me something cheaper, and more filling than the broke ass staples of boxed mac and cheese, hot dogs, noodles, bread, beans, and rice. I’ll wait.
It also ignores the mental toll that poverty takes like maybe your home made veggie filled recipe isn’t crazy expensive but it also involves prep time and cooking time and organization in terms of fresh food that a lotta poor people can’t manage.
Not to mention if you can only afford to get to the store once every couple weeks via bus or cab then you can’t keep fresh veg on deck.
But ya know.. poor people are just dumb and lazy.
Do you know this Musical Song? #270
I know the song and the musical
I know the song but not the musical
I know the musical but not the song

I have never heard this
Song: The Pitiful Children
Musical: Be More Chill
Composer: Joe Iconis
“Because the truth is, tech doesn’t have an image problem. It doesn’t have a message problem. It has an intention problem. What’s wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn’t successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What’s wrong is that he’s trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that’s designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn’t that you haven’t told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them.”

RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983) Dir. Richard Marquand
I reblogged a post earlier, where Palpatine was urging Anakin/Vader to use the power of his anger and hate.
But it's neither of those things that finally gives Vader the strength to destroy The Emperor in this scene.
It's the Love of a father who can't bear to see his son murdered before his eyes.
No doubt he's angry, no doubt he hates his evil master. But that's never made this possible before.
Now here's his son. His own flesh and blood, who did what Vader/Anakin could not, he refused to join The Emperor.
And Anakin will not let him be tortured to death for it.
lie to me
Hopeful 😃
Even more hopeful. 🦀
Hahahaha
Person in my gas station talking to someone on the phone: ...We're in Ohio...
Me, knowing we're in Utah: ????
Thank you for the map for context. It makes this 1,000 times funnier and intriguing.

My favorite category of government program to run across is "program you've never heard of doing extremely important work to solve a major problem which you have also never heard of." On that note, the US drops millions of pounds of sterile bugs over Panama each week in order to prevent a parasite infestation from moving into North America. Everyone say thank you to the Panama-United States Commission for the Eradication and Prevention of the Cattle Borer Worm (COPEG)
This program had its funding cut during the DOGE cuts last year and now the parasitic worm they were trying to slow the spread of has officially arrived in the United States.

your ship goes canon
your favorite ao3 writer drops 100k of your ship + your favorite trope
I mean, canon hasn't gotten anything right yet, why would I possibly think canonizing my ship would be their first win?
Can I be honest with yall I don't want to hear SHIT against cishets at pride this year
"But it's not FOR them!!!" The biggest military power in the world belongs to a christofascist nation overseen by a felon found guilty of 34 federal crimes and has greenlit a gestapo with more direct funding than the entire military of Canada for the purpose of ethnic cleansing. Let Hetero Jessica throw some biodegradable glitter at a municipal parade
At this point if anyone is trying to exclude anyone benignly pro-queer from a pro-queer space I'm just going to assume you're a fed or something idk like something something destabilize the movement from within or whatever

Nashville Zoo Says No to Proposed Data Center
"At Nashville Zoo, our top priority is to protect our precious animals and their environment. We are equally committed to the health and safety of our visitors, staff, and neighbors living nearby. Yet, with no regulations or safeguards for use in place, developers intend to build a 69,000 square feet data center on land abutting the Zoo. They assert the community need not worry, that building a data center next door to one of the region’s most delicate environments will cause no harm." According to this Harvard article, AI data centers pose a significant risk to health, especially in high population areas. This Yahoo article explains pollution estimates.
Maybe don't build a data center near a hub of animal conservation? Or perhaps, never, yeah?
