wooow, labour MP btw
not just any MP, but an undersecretary for migration and citizenship. this guy is one of the MPs that has a direct hand on the genuinely horrific treatment of migrants and refugees in the UK, including shipping them off to the UK's former colony after unilaterally declaring the colony to be safe, as well as stripping the migrant and refugees of their heirlooms in the name of "paying for their migration in the UK with their own assets." Starmer's cabinet is filled with people whose bloodsoaked hands will never wash out like these.
this is what I mean about how right now in the united states (won't speak for elsewhere but feel free to lmk in the notes if you'd like) a lot of us trans adults who are able to access transition care can only do so at the direct expense of trans minors. this clinic would not have opened if they held the line and offered equal access to healthcare to trans minors.
"Martin announced the direct-care clinic, calling it “one of the first times a public health department has ever taken that step.” But when Cabán pushed back, pointing out that trans youth are the ones most under attack right now—noting that there are “almost no providers” left for youth the entire city—Martin indicated the clinic would not serve youth, citing the need to “strike a balance” between providing care and avoiding “clawbacks from the federal government.” This morning, EITM can directly confirm that the age cutoff is 19—matching the Trump administration’s executive order threshold, not the standard legal age of adulthood in New York."
a lot of the structural transphobia we are experiencing is hitting minors even worse. their care gets banned first. if you want a preview of what access to healthcare will look like for us trans adults in 2 years, look at what access looks like for legal minors right now.
please have the compassion to show them solidarity now. do for them what you hope a cis person will do for us. like at the very least, talk about it.
this is the second case ive seen of a black child going missing and then found lynched, what the fuck is going on

Meet the Press w/Trump 6/7 Highlights
This was prerecorded.
He looks swollen like a grape and very red
WELKER: Iran just attacked US allies in the region. Is the US at war with Iran?
TRUMP: I call it a military exercise because people would rather have it called that. It's not a big war for us.
Trump compares the war to Vietnam again.
Trump obfuscates the fact he doesn’t know who’s in charge in Iran: “I don't want to go into names. They're leaders. They're respected by the people that have to respect them.”
Trump claims Iran has already agreed to not "develop, purchase, acquire, or buy" a nuclear weapon
Trump: "I'm moving very fast. I'm into three months. You know, Vietnam lasted 19 years."
WELKER: How long are you willing to give Iran to make a deal? You've been talking for quite some time
TRUMP: We really haven't. You were in Vietnam for 19 years. I won't even talk about World War 2, because that was the big one
Trump gets distracted by the rain.
Trump will not make a deal to get Americans held by Iran released: “Nobody has an accurate list of who they are or if they're being held”
WELKER: What changed? You insisted 'no new wars'
TRUMP: I didn't guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world? (COMMUNITY NOTE: Trump repeatedly promised "no new wars" during his 2024 campaign.)
Trump gets distracted by rain again, leading to an awkward moment of silence with Kristen Welker
“We took over Venezuela.”
WELKER: Gas is up. Diesel is up.
TRUMP: It's all coming down as soon as the war is over.
WELKER: 70% of farmers say they can't afford fertilizer.
TRUMP: The farmers are doing very well
Trump on his taxpayer-funded insurrectionist slush fund: "If it was up to me, I'd pay them the kind of money they deserve. People have been destroyed. Many suicides. If they get it approved, that's great."
WELKER: Do you think anyone who attacked police officers on J6 should get taxpayer money?
TRUMP: I wouldn't be inclined to say so, but I'd have to see it. They had FBI agents ushering them into the building.
WELKER: There's no evidence of that
TRUMP: Try looking at the tapes one time. Many of those people should be compensated.
Trump crashes out and cuts his interview with Welker short as she presses him on his lack of evidence for claiming elections are rigged: "You're either crooked or you're stupid. Let's call it quits. Because I've had enough. Thank you darling," he tells her."

Black people deserve to have spaces away from white people. I think this is something that can be universally agreed upon. It would be wrong for a white person to invade a space for black people and start acting like they're some authority on oppression that they did not grow up experiencing. There are many things about being black that white people will never understand.
And in the same vein, female people deserve to have spaces away from male people. There are many things about being born female that people born male will never understand.
Please just accept that some things aren't meant for you, and it's not born out of malice or hatred.
anon you've been arguing this in my inbox for like a week. you would have loved "separate but equal" huh
The part that's missing from a lot of tumblr-centric discourse on transmisogyny is really that stuff like "medical transition is conformist" didn't come from here, it's all runoffs from weird cis people in academia imagining a version of transness to get mad at.
The archetypal "transandrobro" is literally just saying shit transmisogynists in queer theory have been saying for decades but dressing it up in more fandom-digestible language. It's not new. They're not innovating.
It happens occasionally that some major trans public figure will hear about the Tumblr manifestation of this issue and say something like "this seems unimportant," causing a lot of controversy.
A lot of people will rightly argue that these attitudes don't just show up online, that transmisogyny in queer spaces is a real issue.
The public figure has accurately pointed out that the random transmisogynists on tumblr are not a priority target for real heavy-hitters to take on, because they are not the source of these ideas, and not the ones empowered to make an impact with these ideas. They are downstream of bigger, more important targets.
Transfeminism defined in opposition to a specific, niche manifestation of transmisogyny will inevitably end up ineffective, because it expends a lot of effort fighting a symptom rather than the disease itself.
For the purpose of this discussion can you define what you mean by heavy-hitters?
People whose outreach influences bigger, more mainstream audiences, people who've done political work with material impact in their country, that kind of thing. The ones who do more than just post popular takes on one or two websites.
Hey do y’all remember when Boeing fucking killed a guy last year. And we all said “huh I guess Boeing fucking killed a guy” and then went on with our lives. And everybody knew that Boeing had fully just fucking executed a guy and nothing came of it. Like there was no police investigation no justice no nothing. Like literally EVERYBODY knew that Boeing had full on murdered a guy to silence him and there wasn’t any consequences for them. Kinda crazy.
In a move that left hundreds of longtime residents scrambling to find alternative housing, municipal construction crews reportedly demolished a local Black neighborhood Thursday, part of an ongoing city project to make room for nothing in particular. “For decades, this part of Fort Worth has languished as nothing more than a loving community for African American families and a bustling hub for Black-owned businesses,” said Mayor Mattie Parker, adding that the destruction of dozens of beloved restaurants, theaters, barbershops, and newspapers was an essential step toward creating more vacant lots that could sit empty behind fences for an indefinite length of time.

"While those working at private companies can at least earn a little money, they face possible punishment if they refuse, from being denied family visits to being sent to higher-security prisons, which are so dangerous that the federal government filed a lawsuit four years ago that remains pending [note: article is from 2024], calling the treatment of prisoners unconstitutional.
Though they make at least $7.25 an hour, the state siphons 40% off the top of all wages and also levies fees, including $5 a day for rides to their jobs and $15 a month for laundry.
Turning down work can jeopardize chances of early release in a state that last year granted parole to only 8% of eligible prisoners — an all-time low, and among the worst rates nationwide — though that number more than doubled this year after public outcry."
No state has a longer, more profit-driven history of contracting prisoners out to private companies than Alabama.

Foods costs are expected to rise at some point in the coming months once the shipping industry fully runs out of fuel reserves and wholesalers run out of existing stocks, causing the full inflationary impact of the Iran War to emerge. Shortly after that, on October 1, a new set of SNAP food aid cuts from Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025 will automatically go into effect. I think there is a real chance that hunger will emerge as a political issue by the end of this year (and if it doesn’t, then it should.)
One explanation I’ve heard for why the stock market has been so nonchalant about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is that they are fully convinced it will end before any of that happens. Someone (I think it was JP Morgan?) said in a recent release that the assumptions for their short-term inflation expectations are all based on the idea that Trump will pull back from the war at the exact right second and miraculously reopen the Strait in full. In their mind, Trump dragging the war out any longer than that would be committing economic suicide right before an election, and Trump as a rational actor would not allow that to happen. Buddy, do I got some news for you
JP Morgan's revised framework assumes that the pace of oil inventory depletion will ultimately force the Strait to reopen "one way or ano
JP Morgan expects Brent crude to remain in the low-$100s for much of 2026, even if the Strait of Hormuz reopens in June, as accelerating inventory draws and logistical bottlenecks keep the oil market tight, the bank said in a note. JP Morgan's revised framework assumes that the pace of oil inventory depletion will ultimately force the Strait to reopen "one way or another," with the bank's base case anchored on a June 1 reopening following a credible announcement confirmed by both sides.
Every time Trump says "we're close to a deal" every stock jumps like 1-3% and then an hour later when Iran hops online and goes, "Literally what the fuck are you talking about? We're nowhere close to a deal." and it drops back down again. Like, they don't care about the Iranians, but they also don't care about the Americans either. Their expectation is that the threat of ICE and local law enforcement will be enough to quell the domestic instability when gas hits $6.50 a gallon and stays there.
It'd be funny if it wasn't so scary. Thank god it's not an election year or anything.
