While I never make/reblog anything more then (very) mildly suggestive stuff in regards to sexual stuff, I’m a big fan of things like body horror and sometimes include it in my art.

People who say stuff like “ew squish it” or “kill it with fire” on pictures of people’s bugs. It’s completely fine to be uncomfortable/have a phobia of bugs and creepy crawlies. This is NOT an excuse to joke about killing people’s pets. Most of the bugs I post here are the animals I personally keep and raise, they are my babies and joking about harming them will not be tolerated. I will happily educate people about these animals or help people with their fears but please be respectful.

A little about me!

Hello! I’m SnackHouse but you can also call me Snack, Snackary, AJ or by any of my sonas! I do not use my real name online.

My main sonas is Marianas the sea monster and Leah the cockatrice. Peʁes the bearded vulture and Imago the cicada are also sonas.

My pronouns are she/her/hers

I’m a 24 year old aroace culturally-jewish woman from Colorado who’s very active in the local fursuiting scene.

I’m a writer who’s spent the last decade building a massive world in my mind that I someday hope to share!

I’m a newbie fursuit maker who someday hopes to do commissions, specializing in weird and uncommon species.

I work with both birds and bugs! Keeping chickens, finches and all kinds of insects and arachnids.

I’m most well known for my primary fursuit, Imago the cicada, I have yet to encounter another cicada fursuiter and I heavily encourage anyone who’s interested to make/get bug suits and join the small but tight-knit ranks of bug furries!

They would be SO good platonically. They would be so good dying in each other's arms, confessing how much they mean to each other as they bleed out on the dirt. They would be so good sharing trauma and figuring out their weird issues and relationships, knowing that they have each other to rely on when all else goes to hell. Their souls would be bound. They are the same creature, built apart miles and miles away, and yet eternally connected. They would see through each other's eyes. They would share each other's minds. They would go through hell and back just to keep the other happy, safe, and sane.

Just came out of the theater after seeing Hoppers and I liked it more than I expected!

And my favorite part by far was the butterflies, they definitely seem to be based off of monach butterflies, and I think they made Titus a complete megalomaniac as a subversion because people mostly associate butterflies with gentile kindness. But as someone who works with butterflies as my job, I cannot stress enough how much butterflies (especially monarchs) are really just Like That.

I'm bummed that an insect had to be the bad guy (they get too much hate already) but also a monach butterfly would very much Do That if given the ability and I think that's hilarious

Me and some friends were collecting eggs on this farm. We dropped one of them and they went absolutely apeshit over that damn egg. Not even the shell was left.

I know people think chickens are herbivores but they absolutely aren’t.

Chickens are omnivores. They eat meat, they eat eat all sorts of fruits and vegetables.

This isn’t really well known to people who live off of farms or who have never spent time on one. It’s also thanks to tv and movies not showing this side of chickens.

Rose tinted chicken glasses used to be a very common invention for chickens, because if they saw a speck of blood on another chicken they would gang up on it and murder it to death and feast on it.

Actual piranhas don’t act like Hollywood piranhas.

Chickens, however, do act like Hollywood piranhas. Those fuckers get a taste for blood and they become fucking ravenous fiends. They’re still very much dinosaur.

You’re not allowed to let your chickens eat eggs purely because if they discover that they can, you will never get another egg from them again. They WILL eat them before you can collect them.

Yeah I was going to mention this. Once they get the taste, they’ll eat their own eggs and the eggs of other hens if they can. At that point, you gotta cull them.

The most insane thing abou this whole thing to me is like… eggs aren’t even cannibalism to chickens. Like, that is functionally milk. Did they think they were using fertilized eggs in the pancakes?

I don’t know if the thing about rose tinted glasses coming from chicken lenses is apocrypha or not (I assume it is but I won’t beat out the 1% possibility that it has something to do with it) but they haven’t gone away, they’re just plastic now instead of glass. They attach to the lil beaks with mini pegs that poke into the nostrils, which doesn’t hurt them. (They can still see from the sides just not straight ahead, And there’s ones that are transparent instead of solid plastic, these are just the most commonly available ones I could find in a quick search)

It's always hilarious to see non-chicken people discover the sheer level of bloodlust these animals have, like they'll excitedly eat grass, corn, seeds, fruits and veggies but their reaction to meat is something on a whole other level.

Our graveyard had to be double fenced in because someone kept helping herself to the freshly deceased and teaching others how to do it.
