genuinely one of my favorite things is making posts about robots (and aliens) being a-spec and then reading the tags of reblogs and seeing all the different people just absolutely seething mad about star trek characters

the white-green gradient of a freshly chopped spring onion…. c'est magnifique
isnt this beautiful
sorry i was struck by a vision
spring onion colour picked aromantic flag
official aromantic post
also aromatic
To me, being aromantic isn't just an absence of romantic attraction - it's a way of viewing the world, of seeing relationships as things to be fully decided upon by the individuals within them rather than by societal norms and expectations, of prioritizing what I want out of life rather than what society expects, of being free. Even if I did experience romantic attraction, I would still identify as aromantic because of all that being in the aro community has taught me.
Valentine's Day is the best. As the patron saint of bees and beekeeping, celebrating St. Valentine helps remind us to always cherish the complex interconnections between us and the natural world, and what better creature to represent those wonders than the humble bee, a tiny yet vitally important pollinator, a creature both feared and adored, who lives in its own little society that is so different than our own yet still holds commonalities--architecture, family, even dance...
...Wait, that's not what Valentine's Day is about? Then what the fuck are all these flowers for
Sometimes when ppl r first introduced to concepts like aromantic or loveless or aplatonic etc they respond with "thats so sad" but really whats sad is when u try to force yourself to feel something that u just aren't able to feel, and finding the label that frees you from those expectations is super liberating and not sad at all
Somethin’ for the aros n such
once again aromanticism is not a tragedy
Aro experience of hearing a song and being like morally as an aromantic person i do not agree with the sentiment behind this, but damn does it slap
i hate u amatonormativity i hate u institution of marriage i hate u nuclear family i hate u ‘love is what makes us human’ i hate u heteronormativity i hate u relationship hierarchy i hate u capitalism i hate all of u w a burning passion !!!!
Bc i know for a fact we probably won't b seeing a lot of posts Abt us:
Happy pride 2 aro lesbians and aro gays and aro mspecs nd 2 any non-sam aro and loveless aros and any other aroallos who feel like ur not seen nd only see aro pride when paired w ace. Ur all doing amazing I hope u have a great pride <:]
Can you explain what non-SAM aro means
sure I can! that means I don't personally use the split-attraction model (or SAM). i dont find it meaningful or helpful to define my sexuality independantly of my aromanticism, so i just dont!
actually, i’m no longer interested in what the difference between platonic and romantic love is, that’s none of my business
can we just take a moment to appreciate how pretty the aro flag is?
so I've been noticing lately that there's a growing divide between the "I HATE romance under all circumstances and at all times" (romance repulsed) and "romance is GREAT and I love it just as much as any allo person" (romance favorable) aros. while being either is fine, there are many aros who aren't either, so...
here's the romance-indifferent aros. here's to the aros who only like romance once and while. here's to the aros who enjoy romance-focused stories but get annoyed when it shows up anywhere else. here's to the aros who are incredibly picky when it comes to romance (but when it does fit their standards they really do enjoy it). here's to the aros who find their preferences changing a lot. here's to the aros who are neither romance repulsed nor romance favorable, because our community can never be divided into two, perfectly opposing sides.
