Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds to host anti-government activist Cliven Bundy

In case you haven’t heard, Baker Creek invited Cliven Bundy to their spring planting festival to talk about his great gardening skills. 🙄Bad move, especially when there are so many other great heirloom companies to purchase from.

They’re currently falling all over themselves on twitter trying to justify it because apparently he’s the only person in the world who can give a talk on dry gardening and “saving a rare watermelon from extinction” cancels out being a delusional violent racist 😒

For anyone who needs a refresher, this is the wealthy entitled insanely racist white man who is a cattle rancher. He has tons of his own land and his land is also adjacent to tons of federal land. He got tired of paying the feds a pittance to graze his cattle there and just started to graze them there without compensating the American public.. and since he is a particularly awful cattle rancher, he overstocked and has been fucking up all manner of land and while claiming that the federal land was really his and also the federal goverment is a sham that shouldn’t exist. He also had a bunch of sons and they’re the same as their father. That was the start of the Bundy Standoff where he ended up joining his sons who were occupying Malheur National Wildlife Refuge , he was arrested by the FBI but his trial ended up being declared a mistrial, so despite committing 16 felonies or something he’s running out free as can be.

He famously suggested that black people were better off under slavery.

The Republican party is not right wing enough for him so he left it. Even Fox News doesn’t want anything to do with him. He’s a human being who has consistently chosen to be horrible and the fact that Baker Seed is inviting him speaks volumes. It also means that the cultish right-wing misogynistic rumors re: the father who runs Baker Seeds may be true after all…

There’s many great alternatives out there such as Johnny’s Seeds, Fedco Seeds (a cooperative), Southern Exposure Seed Exchange (also a cooperative), Native Seeds (specializing in plants from the desert US Southwest), Wildseed Farms in Texas, San Diego Seed Co in California, Seed Savers, Eden Brothers in NC, Livingston Seed in Ohio possibly the oldest independent seed company still around, etc.

lol I love when men try to deny studies that show that men do less housework and childcare than their female partners by any means possible, from “men go to work! Should we come back from work to cool and clean?!” (because apparently it’s the 50s and women don’t have jobs) to “men’s jobs are harder! Women work in air conditioned offices sitting at a desk while men are breaking their backs in factories!” just admit that like 90% of you are lazy fuckers who have grown up expecting women to do all your domestic chores and child rearing for you.

Even more annoying are all the woman who rush to men’s defence like “MY husband pulls his weight around the house! He always puts his dirty dishes in the sink for me to clean instead of leaving them on the table and once he wiped his piss droplets off the toilet seat!! I didn’t even have to ask!”

When you deal with mental illness it becomes painfully obvious that “How are you” is a greeting rather than an actual inquiry into your well-being, so the first one is a canned response but the second one gets real

Today I was diagnosed with PTSD. PTSD caused by where I currently live. And I can’t get treatment for it as long as I live there and the trigger is still active. It’s impossible for me not to live here. The doctor said he was sorry. So that’s great.

You can get therapy/help even though you live with the situation. Like stuff about regulating emotions, self-soothing, ect would still be helpful.

sometimes I’m like “my therapist doesn’t really tell me anything I don’t already know” but then I remember that I used to eat scrambled eggs every single morning because I hated them but I hated them less than I hate all other breakfast food on weekdays (don’t @ me waffles are a weekend food and they Do Not start me on a productive path) and my therapist said, “why not eat a lunch food?”

my father’s insurance pays a hundred dollars an hour for a woman to give me permission to eat a pb&j at six in the morning
