I was always jealous as to how Naruto and Sasuke got to be the incarnates of the sons of the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki, through Ashura and Indra. What about Sakura? What does she get? Why does the only female on the team have to be the only normal non-god-tier, while the two boys get to be god-tier?
People praise her for coming from nothing and reaching almost, but not the same, level as Naruto and Sasuke as a “big accomplishment.”
Yeah yeah but I want her to GET HER OWN ancestor too, now that Naruto and Sasuke get to meet their god ancestors. Sakura wants to find her own ancestor too!
Why does the MAIN character, Naruto, get to be an incarnate, why does Sakura have to be “the normal one,” and always being praised as the girl who came from nothing? But that doesn’t change the fact that her two guys, teammates, are gods? I wanted more for Sakura. Before anyone says I ruined Sakura by making her an incarnate too, you could flip the argument: Why can Naruto and Sasuke get a free pass to become deities, but not Sakura?
So I went ahead and commissioned this Sakura Otsutsuki artwork by TinyDharla, but it doesn’t even need to be related to the Otsutsuki bloodline. You can interpret this image in any way you want, and share your ideas. It could just be an Oni.
Anyway, here’s a potential backstory I thought of:
In which Haruno Sakura meets Inner Sakura, an Oni, in Sakura’s Mental Plane.
“I’m the Oni you hear about in legends. Sometimes they’re called yōkai, demons, or ogres. That’s what I am. A monster. You’re… you’re a human,” OniSakura said in a feminine voice that sounded like glitched music.
“A millennium ago, I used to be Sakura Otsutsuki. I was Kaguya Otsutsuki’s first-born daughter, the oldest sister to my brothers Hagoromo, Hamura...and Black Zetsu. However, I died very young, before my brothers were even born… So they didn’t know I existed.
“I died in war, betrayed by my best friend. Mourning and grieving over my death, my Mother ate the fruit of the God Tree and ended all wars. She gave birth to new sons. I was forgotten and lost in history. I wasn’t even recorded in history.
“If I still lived, I’d have been Indra’s and Ashura’s aunt.
“But I wasn’t actually gone… I was lost in space, all alone, for a thousand years, until I found you, a vessel for my chakra, Sakura Haruno.” Sakura Oni grinned evilly.
She reached out her hand for Sakura to accept, ready to channel her full Sage of Six Paths Chakra into her new friend. Naruto and Sasuke only received half of Hagoromo’s chakra, but the Oni was once Hagoromo’s older sister, and Kaguya’s daughter, and had a thousand years to compile and develop her chakra in space. Now, finally meeting her descendant as her Inner Sakura, the Oni was ready to share the entire thing. Sakura could transcend the world.
Sakura looked hesitant to accept such godly powers and asked how to get out.
“No need to leave, Sakura-chan. We can explore planets and outer space forever!” — Oni, Sakura’s Rinnegan
