@saxonadventurer
Finally got round to putting these shiny hooks onto my leg wraps to stop them falling down (and to add some extra fanciness) ✨
Hooks like these have been found in the archaeological record, and this is one of the well recognised interpretations for them.
The amazing tablet weave is by a friend of mine.
It is stitched tightly at one end to the leg wrap, and the other end is fixed to the brass hook. The tablet weave then wraps around the top of my calf, and hooks onto the leg wrap. This stops them (hopefully) from falling down, and adds some extra status to my kit impression.
New dress alert! 💚
My mum made me this beautiful green kirtle as a gift and I adore it, the colour is absolutely gorgeous!
When we made the pattern we widened the side panels a little to give a slightly fuller skirt compared to my white kirtle, as well as changed the neckline slightly and made the slit at the cuffs a little longer because I like rolling up my sleeves! The fabric & thread are linen, and the dress was handstitched.
~ Worn with a simple two tone green naalbound belt, two brass bracelets, and a necklace with antler & glass beads.
I dyed some white linen using pomegranate a couple of weeks ago, and then made a ring pouch using the dyed naterial
The inner ring is wood rather than ivory (for hopefully obvious reasons) and I have slightly altered how it sits due to the thickness of the linen. The outer fabric is the pomegranate dyed linen, and the inner fabric is a similar linen but in grey. All stitching was by hand, and done using a cream linen thread.
Shown alongside the pouch in the photos are a leather belt, two horn spoons, a bone comb, and a goose bone flute/whistle.
Feasting at Butser Ancient Farm
~ Migration period Anglo Saxon group, Herigeas Hundas enjoying an authentic feast in the Saxon Hall at Butser Ancient Farm over Eostre ~
Photos brilliantly captured by Ross Underwood
This was such a brilliant way to spend Eostre! Food was brilliant and we had such an amazing time living in the Saxon Hall for 4 days
I miss gatherings like this so so much. I look forward to happier, safer times with my band of Saxon brothers & sisters

If you’re a Norse pagan that sympathizes with the alt-right/neo nazi movement or is a neo nazi that uses Norse pagan symbols, please smash that unfollow button and block me.
I don’t want that filth here.
I’m looking at other pagans here and begging y’all to reblog this and help us Norse pagans take back the symbols that have been twisted into a mark of hatred
White supremacists and neo nazis have no place on my blog. Please stop tainting my heratige with your bigotry, thanks and have a shitty day.
If I ever don’t reblog this, assume the trolls have come back for me
I’m a queer, brown, female with immigrant parents. If you sympathize with Nazis/the alt right/Trump & Pence, GTFO
They’re more and more infiltrating Gaelic Polytheism spaces, too. We can’t afford to be lazy about this either.
The ones invading Gaelpol tend to be fond of the Morrígan I’ve noticed. Which is sickening on a number of levels. They’ve no right to even a space to speak in our religion.
The Gods and Ungods you’re trying to lay claim to are a beautiful bag of queer, disabled, and multicultural beings that don’t adhere to your bullshit racist, sexist, homophobic, ableist, bigoted talking points.
This blog is not for you. These communities are not for you. May Balor gaze upon you pieces of shit.
Please. Please, for the love of Thor. If you hate people because of their nationality, sexuality, gender, the color of their skin, disabilities they may or may not have… any and all of that.
Unfollow me. I don’t support hatred and neither do the god or gods you profess to follow.
Small interruption between normal posts for this quick announcement: whether you are a pagan, reenactor or other similar part of this community then you have no place here. If you sympathise with neo-nazis or the alt right, judge people on their skin colour, socieo-economic background, their gender, sexuality or (dis)ability then kindly do me a favour and do one. There is no place for that here.
Wishing you a wonderful Beltane 🔥
Such a lovely cuddly bunch!
My bow is a simple self bow made from ash and strung with faux sinew.
The arrows have ash shafts, and have goose feathers for fletching. They have rubber safety tips on them so as to be combat safe when I fire them at a shieldwall.
The bow lives in a gorgeous red linen bow bag, made for me by a friend, and has a matching red linen quiver for the arrows.
My ventilation holes under my armpits had got bigger due to a few tips, and were embarrassingly large, so I took to sewing them back to their correct size the other day
The original kirtle dress was handmade by me and my mother, as a joint project when I first started reenactment. It's made from a heavy but breathable linen and all visible seams are hand sewn. The belt is naalbound.
Some gorgeous tablet weave being made by a friend ✨
Missing music making with this lot

One of our members brought a rabbit to our latest reenactment event which they skinned and roasted. The next day they popped the leftovers in a stew and let the skin dry in the blistering sun

These are gorgeous! 😍
Fancy some backpacking anyone?
A talented member of my reenactment group put together this authentic hiking geat. The frame itself is wood with sheepskin padding and leather straps. He has a reindeer skin on which to sleep, as well as a double layered blanket which doubles up as a cloak in bad weather. Attached he also has a wooden bowl which can be used for eating, as well as various pouches of dried foods. On his belt he would be sure to wear a knife, more pouches of foods and medicines, as well as an axe for protection and firewood.
