The movie is incredibly funny and well written, Glen and Adria were perfect and played really, really well off of each other.
A little sad that the cast couldn't have been present to experience the audiences reactions, but Linklater was there and provided an entertaining Q&A after.
I have to say....this is probably the most fun I've had at the theater in a while. Definitely go see Hit Man when it gets released, it deserves all of the success it gets.

another fun rocketry term is âlithobrakingâ. Like, one way spaceships lower their orbits is by skimming along the top of the atmosphere, letting the friction slow them down. This is called âAerobrakingâ, because theyâre using the atmosphere as a brake.
Lithobraking, therefore, is coined by analogy, with âlitho-â being the greek root for âstoneâ. Itâs how you slow your spaceship down⊠by crashing it into the fucking ground.Â
So a crashed rocket âexecuted a lithobraking maneuverâ.
Thereâs also âEngine rich exhaustâ, which is what happens when your rocket engine starts breaking apart and bits of machinery are burning along with the fuel thatâs supposed to be burning.Â
A more technical term is âNegative periapsisâ. Orbits have a periapsis and an apoapsis, the lowest and highest altitude they reach each orbit. A negative periapsis, therefore, is a negative altitude. Your rocket hit the ground.Â
And related is the term âablative Xâ. Ablative heat shielding is a type of heat dissipation where you have a layer of some material covering your spaceship, which heats up into a gas and blows away. So you lose bits of it as you go through the atmosphere. The joke version is when you refer to things as âablativeâ when theyâre not intended to be: ablative sensors, ablative wings, ablative space probe. that is, your spaceship lost parts it wasnât supposed to lose while flying through the atmosphere.Â

Look. I have literally no horse in this race when it comes to the WGA/SAG Hollywood strike. I do not watch enough TV or movies to be affected and Iâm not a part of the industry. I really havenât cared.
As a lawyer and orchardist, however, I am now utterly entranced by the fact that some Universal Studios exec thought it was a good idea to cut down city-owned trees in the middle of summer.
There is no way to get around the absolute clusterfuck they have brought down upon themselves.
First, the ownership question. These trees are not owned by Universal. Theyâre the City of Los Angelesâ trees. That means the responsibility, and the right, to maintain them belongs to the city government. If you want to touch city property like that, you better have their permission. If not, youâre looking at anything from fines, to replacement/maintenance costs, to jail time.
Now, I donât know LA, and Iâm not licensed in California, but a lot of cities also require permits for any massive trimming like that that can affect public property (like the roads and sidewalks).
Second, they have zero excuses that can even remotely minimize the trouble theyâre in. Anything that justifies that kind of pruning at this time of year would have likely required the full removal and destruction of the trees.
Because that level of pruning? You donât do that in summer. You absolutely do not do that in summer unless the trees are dying or infested with something. Why? Because summer is healthy growth time. Summer is when your trees need all the energy they can get so they can grow and strengthen their branches and roots.
Itâs also when theyâre susceptible to diseases. Various bacteria, fungi, and insects strike during the summer and can cause severe damage. By trimming those trees so severely, not only are there a ton of gapping wounds for diseases to enter the tree, theyâre now stressed by trying to replace that lost growth, which makes it even harder for them to survive any further damage.
Basically, Universal Studios might end up accidentally killing the trees. Which will make everything so much worse.
So, yeah. Now Iâm invested.
